I thought it'd be useful to have a thread where Avalonians could help to compile a list of tips and recipes they find beneficial to their well being. This way, everyone else here can benefit from them, too.
The list can be made up of all things that'd help to boost and/or heal the body, mind, spirit/emotions. Even include home-made, environmentally friendly alternatives that'd benefit our animal friends as well as our homes, why not?
(For example, I saw a thread with a recipe for homemade laundry detergent (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?15175-Laundry-Detergent&highlight=laundry+soap) that looked very interesting.)
As ideas:
For the Body:
Food recipes that'd help to boost the immune system, or help to detox, or simply healthy alternatives for the sake of experiencing culinary delights without the guilt factor. (i.e. meat-free recipe alternatives, sugarless desserts etc.)
We can even add in formulas for tried and trusted home-made lotions and potions, and natural-based beauty products… especially ones passed on by (grand)mothers/(grand)fathers. Their generation is a wealth of knowledge and inventiveness, having lived in times when the millions of ready-made (chemical filled) products weren't available as they are today.
For the Mind/Spirit:
Aromatherapy oils or blends that helps to relax, revive, energise, and/or cope with stress. Sleep tips, meditation techniques etc.
For the home:
Home-made house cleaning products, house clearing tips (energetic/vibe level.. but if it's a practical one, why not? It's always fun to learn new techniques!) etc.
You get the idea. I look forward to learning from your tips and recipes.
(And if you've got a recipe for love, add it in, too. That'd never go amiss! ;) )

I'll kick this thread off.
(Edit: Moving this part as another post otherwise it's a looong start to the thread.)
Whenever I feel like I've absorbed too much heavy or negative energies-- either from people around me, or from being caught up in energetically oppressive, toxic situations/environments-- my energy field begins to feel dense and I, in turn, start feeling physically, mentally and emotionally depleted.
That's when I hop into a tub for some bath therapy, and where this following recipe comes in extremely handy.
It's a simple but powerful blend that helps to release negative energies accumulated in the luminous body. It's also helpful to use after having been unwell, as illnesses can also lower one's vibrational level.
Recipe for clearing the Energy Field/Light Body: a.k.a. Soul Sparkler (Bath Blend)
It uses two ingredients: sea salt crystals/rock salt (but NOT table salt, because that's loaded with junk) and bicarbonate of soda (BoS).
Depending on how strong you need the solution to be, based on how depleted your energy field feels, use equal parts of sea/rock salt and BoS anywhere from a handful to half a kilo (a pound) of each.
Sea Salt is an excellent cleanser and purifier, drawing out toxins physically and energetically, and helps to recharge the luminous body. It also increases the negative ions (http://www.orientaldetox.com/negative-ions.html) (a good thing) and alkalises the energy field.
BoS increases the effects of the salt, further helps to neutralise the energy field, as well as softens and clears the skin.
- Throw the equal measures of salt and BoS into a tub of hot water and immerse your body in it for 20 minutes.
[Note: as salt is quite a 'heaty' element, you may find that the level of heat you normally can endure in hot water will increase. maybe make it a tad cooler and see how you go.
Also, people with low blood pressure-- please be careful. I've read that some have fainted in the bath because of the heat-- so ease up on the hot tap.]
- It helps to also meditate or clear your mind while doing this clearing; imagine only that your body and energy field is releasing the toxins.
Personally, I also enjoy lighting a few candles and having some music on while doing this, it makes like feel more 'ceremonial' (giving power to the intention).
- After 20 minutes, rinse off, wrap up in a bathrobe and have a little lie down. You may feel more tired, but that will pass.
(BTW, Drain the tub right away after-- no need to have past stuff around any longer!)
Also, if the sun's out, you can opt to sit in it for 10 minutes after your bath- that'll kick start the recharging of your energetic body.
You'll feel better and more sparkly after this clearing session.
Antibiotic Tea
For when you're feeling poorly and need a boost your immune system
Ingredients:
* One/two large clove(s) of garlic, bruised (to let the oils out)
* A chunk of fresh ginger, bruised (about thumb's length)
* Juice of one fresh lemon
* 1 tbsp of good honey (not processed. I like Manuka honey)
* A small pinch of cayenne pepper
* A sprig of fresh thyme (optional. Good for respiratory illnesses such as bronchitis)
- In a heated mug, place in the garlic, ginger (also thyme) and add hot water.
- Cover and let it steep for about five-seven minutes.
- Then add in the cayenne pepper, and stir in the honey.
- Add the lemon juice last as that helps to retain the vitamin C property better.
Drink this 3 times a day. (It's not as bad as it may sounds!)
Garlic is a powerful antioxidant, blood purifier, and has potent antibacterial, antiviral properties. (Also, good for the heart.)
Ginger helps to warm up the body- good for lowering fevers, too.
Cayenne pepper is helpful to give strength to the body.
Honey is a wonderful soother, and will make this tea go down easier!
Lemon, as explained, is the vitamin C element.
Honey Face mask (for all skin types)
Honey is not only delicious, but it's a salve, a humectant, and has antibacterial properties. This mask will not only make you skin baby soft, it'll nourish your skin and you'll see it glow after!
- Dab a tablespoon of good honey on your face and spread it around. (Spread, not rub into your skin.)
- Then, with your finger tips, gently tap all around your face. This will make the honey stickier and with every tap, pulls the blood up to your skin to feed it.
- Tap your face for about 10 minutes- (I listen to the radio or catch up with interviews here while doing it so it doesn't get boring.)
- Then, with a damp facecloth, wipe off all the honey.
- Have a real good look at your face in the mirror… gorgeous, aren't you? ;)
Do this once a week. You'll see a difference after the first time!

A pure economic tip: The most inexpensive way to obtain high quality solar salt is purchasing the bags, 40 .lbs in USA used for water softeners in houses. A quick check on the web brought results all under 8 dollars. The crystals are large but dissolve with no problem in a bath.
Thank you for the post Ruby L

thanks for the tips and Recipes. I might add that with the bath I have sometimes had a second bath with a crytal combo in a muslin bag to drop in the water with me. I particulary like to use citrene and or Amethyst. Also for the women out there I like to recommend zebra jasper. Thanks again for the enlightening post. Can't wait to try the mask, jj

Best hairstyling ever
Boil about 0.5 liter of water and dissolve two teaspoons of sea salt into. Let cool and pour into a reusable spray bottle. Add a dollop of organic conditioner (my favorite: Burt's bees Pomegranate & Soy conditioner). Shake well.
Apply to dry hair.
Gives you that sexy fresh-from-the-beach look or by combing trough the hair and tousled by your fingers gives big time volume. For that straight-from-the-hairdresser shine add juice from half a lemon to the solution.

Make your favorite (unscented) body lotion anti-aging and more effective moisturizing
Add aromatherapy quality natural (organic) oils to 300 ml lotion:
20 drops Geranium (Pelargonium graveolens - collagen enhancing properties)
10 drops Tangerine (both stimulating and calming properties)
10 drops high quality Ylang-Ylang (fixates the other oils and smells heavenly - dermal penetration enhancer)
5 drops Lavender (soothing)
5 drops Spearmint (slightly cooling and herbal peppery scent)
All oils add beneficial moisturizing properties
Fragrance of sunshine and spring

And to your nice honey mask Ruby L. you may add:
Yoghurt (lactic acid - mildly peeling effect, humectant as well - synergistic with honey)
Egg yolk (very skin softening lipids and skin friendly amino acids)
Aromatherapeutic oils of your choice - only one drop
Lavender for soothing effect
Rosemary for a nice skin glow

Fresh Fruit Facials
The Function of Skin
Skin is
• the largest organ in the body
• the body's protector from foreign substances
• vital in the release of toxins from the body
• a window into the body's general health
Skin deserves to be pampered and cared for, and it's easy and economical with homemade fresh fruit facials. Facials are a wonderful pampering experience. They can be either revitalizing/rejuvenating or relaxing/calming.
The facial process has 3 steps.
• a cleansing to remove surface dirt, and prepare skin for the steam.
• a steam to soften skin and open pores to prepare skin for the mask. A steam aids the skin's absorption of beneficial moisturizing and aromatic oils, helping hydrate and plump cells.
• a face mask/pack removes the dead, dull layer of surface skin cells. It helps pull out toxins and pollutants, while it tones and clarifies skin.
The Scoop on Fresh Fruit
Fresh fruit masks contain natural alpha hydroxy acids. Fruit acids help loosen expired skin cells so they fall away easily, exposing the smooth and soft under layer of skin. Fresh fruit facials are recommended to
• help skin look and feel smoother
• even out pigmented skin tone
• minimize the look of wrinkles
You can use a single fruit, or combine two or more kinds. The fruit pulp is used alone or in combination with a binder such as clay, oatmeal, cream, honey, yogurt, milk powder, or egg white. The kind of binder used depends on the skin type and effect desired. Mix your mask just before using, and throw away any leftovers.
If you might be allergic to a fruit or binder, do a patch test on your inside arm. If irritation or redness develops, don't use that kind of fruit in your masks.
When applying a mask, keep the mixture away from eyes.
Fruit Acid - Found In- Function
Malic Acid - found in Apples, Applesauce, Vinegar - to Moisturize, Soften, Tone
Lactic Acid - found in Yogurt, Milk, Buttermilk, Cream, Blackberry, Tomato - to Soften, Moisturize, Renew Cells

Citric Acid - found in Citrus Fruits like Lemon, Grapefruit, Orange, Lime - to Cleanse, Tighten, Tone
Glycolic Acid - found in Sugar Cane - to Smooth, Soften, Renew Cells
