This has been running for a few of years now and i always wanted to go. This year for instance they have Richard Dolan (he's been a few times now). Steven Bassett and Nick Pope and others. I've heard that getting into Leeds can be quite tricky and staying overnight is recommended. Has anyone been before? How busy can it get?

The £49.99 per night to stay there is a bit much as is there ticket prices but who knows it might be ok.

Brilliant!!

Venue is 15 mins from station on foot. Trains to London every hour from very early to very late. Leeds is an excellent transport hub for anyone travelling in from elsewhere in the UK. Well served with hotels and Avalon members... I do believe.

So i'm not paying £49.99 per night to stay there, unless they somehow squeeze all the good speakers into 1 day and then tell me in advance what day that will be. If i had a good woman to share the night with then maybe i could do it. It's something i'm thinking about doing.

This is an excellent conference. I heard an interview on Ohio Exopolitics Blog Talk Radio with the U.S. version and the guy who began it ~ was so interesting and from the events that happened at the one in 2010 left me with the desire to look into it. If you can attend, by all means you should go. I am snowed in at the moment but maybe you'd be kind enough to share what you learn? All of these Exopolitics groups are interesting and lively. Thanks in advance!

yeah you should be able to pick up a hotel for a lot less than £50...

We should have some sort of meetup for UK Avalon folk!

I'm trying to do that just now. I looked into it last year and it worked out that i couldn't get a direct route into the University, i would have to stop off and get another coach or another train and the cost just adds up and adds up.

Here is a pretty cool video of Richard Dolan doing a talk. Gives you an idea how busy it was back in 2009.

Go to Central Leeds Station and there's a free bus! They are trying to get rid of it with cuts, but it should still be running then... or just walk or bus it up the hill - or just a few quid in a Taxi.

A meet would be fun.

Maybe Phil can put us up for a few days in his home, nice breakfast, nice lunch. That's the spirit of Avalon afterall. All helping one another.

If you look at the website there is actually quite a lot of speakers and events. It looks like they do give the days. The UFOs and The Media section is all on the Friday so i guess if i went on the Friday i could hear and meet Richard Dolan and Nick Pope.

Just to spread the word, Dolan and others alike are doing a "secret space program" conference in Early April.

Don't really have a problem with that, but I do live about 3 miles away from the Uni and only have a tiny 1 bedroom apartment ;)

I'd definitely recommend a hotel LOL

Hi Kooky, there's plenty of hotels near by, I think the Etap are still doing rooms for £30 ish

pfft 30 quid. Cost a fortune going to this thing. Probably about £100 all in once i add in the coaches and the price of the ticket for 1 day. They don't even offer a concession for the unemployed.

Anyone else decided to go?

I'll be going to this no doubt. I'll just get the train up on the Friday after work, book a night in a hotel, have some fun with the fiancé and go on the Saturday!

Sounds like a plan!

Couldn't you book a dirty weekend another time and just use this one to focus on the important topics that will be discussed throughout the weekend?
