View Full Version : A reminder: please don't forget to donate to the Forum

Hello All,

I wanted to make an attempt at a group donation effort for Bill. I know most of us can't afford what we would like to give, but most of us can make some sacrifice somewhere to free up funds for donation. The image of Bill sleeping in his car with the engine running to stay warm absolutely breaks my heart. Bill has been instrumental not only in bringing important information into our lives, but also has become a hero of sorts to many of us.

So I propose this:

I can afford to send $100 and will be doing so shortly. For each person who can match my donation, I will add another $10 (I hope I know what I'm getting myself into) for up to $200 total. I'll make my own lunch this month =P.

Please help me help Bill. He's obviously not going to ask for it, nor should he have to. I have been derelict in doing what I can, however today I'm changing that fact.

Brilliant :)

As far as I can tell, the only link to donate is on the main page thousands of words down. Is this correct? I would like to suggest that a little donate link be made more easily accessible. This would not be selfish IMO, as selfish would be to have advertisements all over the site. I have sent a PM to Bill requesting this. Also, if there was a way to express how you would like your donation to be used (for example: Hotel/server costs fund for Bill, thank you fund for the mods, hat cleaning service, etc), all the better. :victory:

Good Idea Inelia. We have listeners from all over the galaxy. Maybye the kids on a birthdayparty could rip off his

cloths. Could make a buck on that. This could be of interest for many different groups. He is pretty well known all over the

galaxy so I think there will be bidders enough. Many ideas erupts just now. We may think this over. Love and carrots

You guys Do realize... you're bidding on a "Homeless Guy's" hat right? Is this where we're at?

(sorry Bill, it was WAY too good, yet acerbic, to pass up..) I'll bid $100.00 for the hat, but knowing that giving up "The Hat" is akin to chopping off your nose to spite...well you know the rest... I'll just post it to Jonathons matching donations. Is there a way I could get a couple C notes to Bill directly, for a "Dinner, or Room on Me"? If so, someone can Pm me an address, I'll fedex it. Otherwise, I'll paypal $100. c.c to Jonathon.

Bumping again. I know Bill never likes asking for help at any time.

:bump:

Hello, Everyone — after a great deal of thought (I really hate doing this! ) I'm bumping this myself. It really is needed. I'd not be doing this otherwise.

I cannot pay the server bills. I just can't. In recent months I've had to sell some personal items to make the payments, and I'm going to have to do that again. That's not really the way it should ideally be.

If everyone active on the forum donated the price of a cup of coffee (literally!) once a month, there'd be zero problem at all.

So, I have no real idea to know how to close this post... but my entreaty, I think, is: Please don't take the forum for granted. It does cost money — thousands of dollars! — every year to keep afloat. And it's my responsibility to make sure she sails well and flawlessly, for the benefit of us all.

My sincere thanks to everyone for your generosity, past, present and future. :star:

http://projectavalon.net/Avalon_sailing_sm.jpg

If we can get the numbers, For the price of a Starbucks coffee each month $3 or $4 would help so much. What do you guys think ?

Stay afloat Avalon.

Hello, Everyone — after a great deal of thought (I really hate doing this! ) I'm bumping this myself. It really is needed. I'd not be doing this otherwise.

Newer members may very understandably not be fully aware of the costs of the forum. Like a great deal of material on the net, we all (me, too) kind of unthinkingly assume it should somehow all be free, like some kind of globally sponsored public service.

And for those who work everyday to add real value, there are a number of ways that many people try to monetize what they do: subscription newsletters, subscription interviews, dreadful advertising all over the place. I've always flatly refused to do that.

My whole philosophy has been to pay it forward. The traditional protocol of exchange is:

"I have something, and you want it. Okay, first give me some money, or something in return, and then, and only then, I'll let you have it."
That's never sat naturally with me. Whatever planet I come from, I think works in a different way. (This may not be just a joke. :) )

I've always contributed what I can, simply because that's the only thing to do. As Alan Watts famously said on his Sausalito houseboat back in the 70s, pointing to a passing seagull: "I teach, just as that bird flies."

Then, in some other way, the return flow comes, often quite unexpectedly. In the early days of Project Camelot, Kerry Cassidy and I always worked that way, assuming that the donations would come in if we just published everything for free. (And, they did.)

Tens of thousands of people still watch the old Camelot videos, which were among the best and most valuable on the net at the time. Some of them are still important classics. Project Camelot still receives donations from people watching those — but I don't, and when Camelot receives a gift, it's impossible to know what's prompted it: something old, or something new.

Not a problem, truly, and I rarely think about it. But that's just a little background, about how I've kind of disconnected myself from that valuable stream of gifts. Mea culpa, in some ways.

The forum here is small by many internet standards, but the quality is solid gold. I'm immensely proud of it, and of the entire community here. It's a huge library. And in our community we have some of the highest quality people one could ever wish to get to know. The moderators team is solid gold, too, and they work tirelessly to keep the forum working as impeccably as possible. No-one receives a penny for this. Their reward is the great satisfaction they get from helping.

I cannot pay the server bills. I just can't. In recent months I've had to sell some personal items to make the payments, and I'm going to have to do that again. That's not really the way it should ideally be.

I know that many of you reading this are yourselves not at all rich. The most generous donations sometimes come from people with very little to their name. I once got a donation, with a lovely note, from a young man in Poland who sent $1.20 and apologized that it was all he had. That moved me greatly.

«I had promised you Bill that I would give whenever things would be better for me financially. Last years, the training industry has been going really down here in Quebec and truly, I was depressed, looking for a job, at an age when I should retire.

Well, I got that job I wanted and had apply for in different potential positions in different companies for years. And at a decent salary. I will get my first paycheck in two weeks.

Therefore, although I still have to pay my debts, I know I will be able to.

So I sent you a donation, a little compared to all the services, with this forum, you rendered me, my daughter, and all of us, directly or indirectly.

Hopefully it will help in sustaining a bit of the forum activities.

Please members and readers, who enjoy this forum in any form, give as you can.

This part of my PM reply just now (which I've also added to a little here), to a wonderfully supportive and longstanding forum member, may be interesting. They had suggested the possible idea of making the forum at least partly subscription-based. (No, that's not going to happen. :) )

Hi there, and many thanks, as always. Quite a few years back (in the previous version of the forum, back in something like 2009, but that's entirely from memory), we did start a subscription for members, as a kind of experiment.

If I remember right, it was $5 a month, reduced to $1 (or a total waiver) if people simply wrote and told us that they really did have no money. It generated quite a lot of resentment and criticism, for reasons I completely understand. After less than a year, we canceled all that and reverted right back to the donations system.

I really don't think it's a good idea. We're dealing with logic vs. emotions here (as we often are!), and the emotions usually hold sway. It's how people feel that almost always counts. And that's totally real and valid, not some kind of illusion.

As I mentioned in my main post on the donations thread (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?p=1126087#post1126087), most people really do expect stuff on the internet to be for free. A few silly critics out there already think I somehow get rich from Avalon — in some never-explained, mysterious way. If only they knew!

Added 'bonus' content can be subscription-based, just maybe, but much, or probably most, does need to be freely available. And I WANT it to be widely available, not locked up behind some paywall that excludes anyone at all.

It's our JOB to get information and awareness out there. It's NOT our job to earn money from all this. (I didn't come to Planet Earth to earn money. Neither did most of you, reading this now.)

As I always used to say in Project Camelot days, we can't sell this stuff, because no-one owns this information. (There's a very flawed concept of 'ownership' of conceptual, non-physical material that's widely prevalent in the western world, but that's entirely a different conversation.)

Radio shows like Coast to Coast, Jeff Rense, Caravan to Midnight, and (partly) Red Ice Radio all have a pay-to-access-the-archives (or even a pay-to-listen) scheme, and no-one has a problem with that because it's been that way for so long. Catherine Austin Fitts' website Solari.com (http://solari.com) is all behind a paywall. So are quite a few others. But when a change is made, then that's where you might get riots in the [virtual] streets.

My very strong pay-it-forward values are pretty much unshakably rock-solid. It all works out in the end, all part of the magical hologram of exchange in a myriad of different forms. We can never predict how the universe will pay us back, later, for the things we do unconditionally. (But, one still has to somehow pay the bills on time, as commercial service providers do not all work in this exact same way. :) )

With my warmest wishes, as always ~ Bill

Bill,

I just sent something I could at the moment.

Considering everything I gained from being part of this community

doesn't do justice.

But I'll come back for it again. So, in a sense, it is a BUMP.

:star:

For those preferring to pay by other means, I can handle donations in the form of cash sent through the postal service, checks drawn on US banks, bitcoin or ethereum crypto-currency, wire transfers, money orders, and (a new convenience for those using cash) Amazon Cash (http://www.amazon.com/amazoncash). Whatever money I receive in such ways, I pass along to Bill's Paypal account, and then I send a PM to both the sender and Bill, letting them know the donation was received and thanking the donor.

There's actually been a wonderful response to these latest posts. Many people have found modest amounts to chip in with, and it all truly does makes a real-world difference.

Thank you all so much. :flower:

It's always hard for me to ask for anything. And as I wrote here (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?15584-A-reminder-please-don-t-forget-to-donate-to-the-Forum&p=1126087&viewfull=1#post1126087), I've always refused to monetize my videos, or any of my work in any form. From the earliest days of Project Camelot, I maintained that we can't sell information which we just don't own.

Many others out there long ago decided to use any means they could think of to sell their wares — by subscription, partial subscription, or 'click-bait' social media marketing. I've never once felt comfortable with that.

Kerry and I did make the Avalon Forum a subscription service, for I think less than a year, in 2009, and then reverted it to being free again. That really was a failed experiment, and all we did was unwittingly create a certain degree of ill-will and resentment. I'd never want to do that with loyal forum members.

This post was actually motivated by a really nice e-mail I just received a couple of hours ago... and if you're reading this, THANK YOU. You know who you are.

Bill,

I just sent $100USD to you via PayPal. I am not a member of Project Avalon. However, I've been following from the days of Project Camelot. I do appreciate your effort of getting knowledge out to the public free of charge. It really contributes to the wakening people up.

I read your detailed account of the financial situation several days ago and was shocked. I thought since you have so many members, at least the members will cover the cost of running Project Avalon. So I was riding free for so long.

It is not a huge amount but hope it helps. Living on a meager Social Security Payment, this is best I can do at this time. I will try to donate some amount once a year.

Have you considered an Amazon affiliate link? Basically whenever I shop on Amazon, Avalon gets a few coins.

Bill, what would also be helpful to all of us is to put a monetary gage on the front page somewhere so all of us know if the donations are keeping up with expenses. We don't need to know details just a total tote board if you will. It will be our constant reminder without having to ask. The last thing I think any of us ever want to see is you selling your own personal items sir. To me avalon is a worldwide college education of a lifetime and the input here from yourself and our members is invaluable. I will do a one time donation now and then set up a monthly donation after that. If the donations dont cover this then I would also suggest on line sale of hats,t-shirts and coffee cups too as additional revenue. Stay the course and keep us updated

I thought about the T-shirt idea too, something generic, like "Thumbs Up if You're Waking Up," so that way we can also get an idea of how many people are waking up. I would buy one.

That was a generous donation that someone made of $100. If everyone on the forum just donated a tenner, you would not be needing to ask. Surely that is not too much to ask from every single Avalon Member, just once a year.

Sounds great, except there is very little that is left over as profit after the item has been made and shipped. There are sites you can upload your images onto cups and hats and t-shirts, and folk can buy them. The site keeps the majority and just a little profit that would equate to a donation would trickle in. Why not just give 100% in a donation. Folk don't need more "things". Avalon does need funds, but there is no need for a "thing", just a show of appreciation and support for what Avalon has already provided.

For people who are interested in purchasing merchandise to support the forum, what about Red Bubble (https://www.redbubble.com/about/selling) (see how it works at the bottom of the page)?

If there are any artists who are interested in donating a nice design, all you would need to do, Bill, is create an account and then this -

...simply upload it to your RB profile, choose your products and set your pricing. Products can be found by the millions of people who visit RB each month, or you can direct your customers to your very own shop.

and post the links to the Avalon items here on Avalon.

I don't have an account so I don't know how much their base fee is (here (https://www.redbubble.com/agreement#eligibility)'s the user agreement) but I've shopped from that site before and I was impressed with the quality of the shirts which were only $25-$30 per shirt (nice, original gifts).

That way there's no need for an online shop or problems like buying stock and processing orders, that's all taken care of. Perhaps there are more profitable ways but for the simplicity of it all it may be worth it to receive a bit of money for the forum and offer some nice Avalon merchandise to those interested while we're at it?

P.S. I agree that the forum would benefit more by receiving the full amount as a donation, but if people are interested in buying merchandise too then that can be good for promotion, as you could have the website address on the back of the shirt, hat etc. We all wear clothes and every bit helps.

Folks, thank you so much.

I was just now able to pay the latest forum hosting invoice. The overdue date was today.

Last month I was the latest I've ever been: I was just over a whole month past due. It was the first time I ever had two overlapping open invoices at once. But I've always managed to make the payments. So now, I'm fully up to date.

The host, Singlehop, is excellent, and understanding. And they provide us all with as solid and reliable a service as one might reasonably hope for. (They, combined with Paul, who has exceptional personal expertise, keep us afloat in some wild storms. Paul's very clever bespoke additions have defended us against a number of heavy attacks that would have crippled other sites.)

The very nice woman running the Singlehop accounts dept was even rather amazed that I wrote to her personally to apologize. (I don't think any other customer of theirs ever does that! )

But, there's a very serious point here. I'm always mindful that we're just — theoretically! — merely someone's bad-hair-day-whim away from being taken offline. Anyone reading this may know full-well what pressure there is now on all alternative news sites, channels, radio shows and forums that are regarded as a threat to the NWO.

And regarding whether Avalon is a threat or not: I've heard recently, a number of times, in substantial detail, in correspondence that's still ongoing, from an Illuminati-connected professional (this is an entirely separate topic, fascinating in itself, and to be reported for another thread when I can somehow summarize it all) — that he was told two or three years ago, in a long document that was formally read aloud to him, that Projects Camelot and Avalon were on the Illuminati watch list.

I was not surprised. I've heard this, in different ways, from various different sources over the years. Of course, MANY others are on the list, too. This is all a worldwide team effort. Some sources of information, inspiration, and/or support are more prominent and widely-followed than others.

But we know from the membership applications we receive in a steady stream that a large number of people — the very sizeable unseen iceberg under the much smaller visible tip — have been following Avalon daily without logging in as registered members. And they read everything you write. We're greatly valued out there.

You see: that's not about me, but about the information and perspectives that EVERYONE HERE brings and publishes. All the mods do, mostly, is tweak things on an ongoing basis to maintain the quality as best we can. Quality maintenance really is the mods team's principal job.

We make a few mistakes now and then in approving people who don't best belong in this particular community, but we do pretty well on the whole — and we usually catch those quite quickly and remedy things fast, if we can. And we never seek to be unkind when we do that.

But I'm veering WAY off topic here. What I'm pointing to is that the forum is extremely valuable, and also extremely valuable to a large number of guests and visitors out there who many members may not know at all.

With the increasing censorship, account closure, and aggressive filtering by Google, Facebook, YouTube and Twitter, there's no predicting when quasi-legal entities may start to put pressure on platform hosts.

And, if that happens, I want any executive in Singlehop to regard us as a good customer worth keeping — and not one which is difficult, a late-payer sometimes, and one they'd be comfortable to quietly shut down if pressure is applied.

So that's why it's a good idea to pay the bills on time. I can't do much else to persuade Singlehop to push back if ever that extreme situation arose — but besides honoring copyright removal requests immediately (which we always do when we get them, maybe once every couple months), the only other thing we have within our gift to do is to pay the bills promptly.

So: that's why your generosity might make ALL the difference. If this was a movie — and maybe it pretty much is! — things like that really might be the tipping point fulcrum.

:bump:

Hi Bill,

I have signed in my PayPal account just now and have set up a recurring payment. The amount doesn't do justice to what the forum has given to me, but it is what I can afford for now.

Having lived in rural area for about 10 years myself, I know how hard it is to make a sum of money in this kind of setting. We, as household, are doing everything, anything, we can to make our ends meet.

I hope other people also will step up to share the cost of server if they could. It's not right keeping it only on your shoulders to make this forum happening.

My ginormous gratitude to you, Bill. If I count the time of original Project Camelot Avalon Forum (?), it's been almost a decade. My life would have been very different, had I not been exposed to information, knowledge and friendship on this forum. :cantina:

Folks, Hi: :star:

This post is primarily for our newer members of the community, who may not know this thread exists.

We're delighted you're here, and I hope you feel that way too. As you've seen, there's no advertising here of any kind, the entire thing is subscription-free, and you now have access to an immense library of searchable information, and the opportunity to participate and add to that as much as you wish.

In various ways, it all costs quite a lot to maintain.

[B]We do need your voluntary financial support. A few of you have already made a donation on joining, and we very much appreciate that. (And there are other longstanding members reading this who regularly donate: we SO much appreciate that. :flower: )

Even small amounts help. If every active member donated just $1 a month, the effect would be significant. $5 a month, and it's transformational.

Please think about it. My own commitment is to continue to make the Forum freely available to everyone, including our MANY regular guests and visitors.

Thanks for all your contributions, in every way. Those who've already made donations, thank you again, and you know who you are. It all counts.

PayPal address: donation@projectavalon.net. To set up a recurring donation, large or small, please use the orange HOW TO DONATE button at the top right of this page.

Thank you. :star:

Thanks Ramus.

Yep, donations can be made quite easily - simply click on the 'donate' box and follow the easy instructions from there.

It's easy to forget that it does cost quite a bit of money to run this place. I know many of us are struggling financially, but even the smallest of donations are helpful!

Has that always been the same hat, Bill?? I'd be interested to know the history of that hat.

Dave - Toronto

Ha! No, the hat in photos #4 and #5 is Mark 2. (A forensic examination of photo #4 may reveal that.) But I still have Mark 1, the old one.

I'd retired it because it got really dirty, and I feared it couldn't be safely cleaned. But after I replaced it, I discovered it really could be. So now, I actually have both.

I always mused that if I hit really hard times (and it's been close!!) I could auction the original one for a few million dollars. (Well, maybe. :) )

Actually, there's a backstory that goes yet further into the past. I had an even more original hat (Mark 0), before I started Camelot. I picked it up at Johannesburg airport (South Africa) back in 2001, on a complete impulse. I discovered it suited me so well, I barely ever took it off.

That got dirty, as well, so my dear mother offered to clean it by hand. After all, that's what mothers do. But that was a terrible catastrophe: the leather got super-soft in whatever it was she was using, and she poked a hole right through it with her finger. So that meant I had to replace it with Mark 1, the Camelot hat.

I always regret throwing away Mark 0, the one that my dear mother tried to clean. It looked EXACTLY like it had a bullet hole. :)

Here's Mark 0 — and my mother, amazingly aged 86 at the time, both of us on safari in Kenya in 2004.

I once had a donation from a teenager in Poland, who sent me $1.22 and a really nice note apologizing that that's all he could afford, but he wanted to send something all the same.

That meant more to me than any millionaire sending $50,000. (Not that that's ever happened! :) )

I live on Social Security too, and I live in a trailer (aka an oversized RV), and my contributions to Avalon are mostly not about money.

It's fine and good to me that Bill encourages monetary donations, and does so without calling out and thanking all the other people who also participate in this forum and contribute to it in various ways.

Those who donate something of value (time, money, insight, expertise, experiences, encouragement, whatever, ...) and who then are annoyed when someone else is thanked for offering, or encouraged to offer, something else of perhaps a different value might ask themselves: was their contribution truly a gift, with a generous heart, without strings attached, if they find themselves so annoyed.

I don't live in a trailer, but the way things were going I was sure I was going to end up under a bridge. I have a recurring donation and am happy to give it while I can. If it gets too rough for me then I may not be able to give anything, but I am going to give what I can when I can.

Avalon is the first place I landed after my "experience" where I was warmly welcomed and given a vast amount of information and confirmation to sift through.

Keep on rocking in the free world.................

ichingcarpenter, and all other contributors -- anonymous or known -- thank you for your support and contributions to the signal over noise ratio; that does count :)

However, there is a bottom line:
No $$ to keep the servers going and no one can contribute no nothing to anything no more!
It's that complicated!

To anyone unable to contribute financially, your frustration is understood and duly acknowledged and we feel sorry for your being in such a situation.

itchingcarpenter.....Sorry you have such a narrow view of life AND a failure to understand what Avalon is all about. There are many who "give" in many ways here, but feel no need to be recognized for it as each one is a part of the picture at large.

The Library we have available to us is simply astounding & many have contributed. No one is asking for "praise" for their part in it. Mature people do not require "praise" for their actions, but instead, are available to help others along in their own personal growth.

Some advice from this friendly Grandmother....GROW UP!!! If you don't feel comfortable here, maybe this isn't the place for you!

I wasn't really aware the situation was so dire... is the forum in danger of being shut down, or am I reading between the lines too much?

I've considered donating but as a person with no way to transfer electronically it's a bit problematic. If it's possible to donate by postal mail with cash or money order please post details. I could mail Canadian money or a money order.

Also in regards to costs of running the site, I realize is none of my beeswax what's being paid. I do have quite a circle of friends in the web development industry though, so if someone would like to PM me privately I'd be happy to look into cheaper alternatives for you. I strongly recommend https:// as well, this is becoming the new standard and LetsEncrypt (https://letsencrypt.org/) is free.

From Bill: There's no imminent danger of being 'shut down': at least no more danger than faces any other alternative platform.

But the costs are a little over $4,000 per year, and that's a LOT for a non-commercial site with not a single advertisement or monetization initiative anywhere.

It's just that in this current climate it's smart to pay the bills on time, and once or twice we've fallen over a month behind. But so far, it's all been good in the end.

The members all contribute to the community, of course, but then the community also contributes to each member. It's a symbiosis. We ALL need to thrive.

The Avalon customization, in various complex forms, means that it's not at all viable to change our web host (SingleHop), who do an excellent job for us.

We've had other hosts in the past, all of which have ranged from unreliable to disastrous. It's definitely best not to change the engines in mid-flight!

Re https, this has been discussed by Paul here (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?95686-Firefox-and-Chrome-Now-Warning-About-Insecure-Login-Pages--Jan-2017-&p=1130436&viewfull=1#post1130436). It's a tricky technical problem (for Avalon), with no easy solution in sight.

Finally, many thanks indeed for offering to send something in the mail. That's super-kind. Paul is happy to receive anything like that, and will automatically convert it to PayPal.

Do please PM him, and he'll let you (or anyone!) know his postal address in Texas.

ichingcarpenter if you feel the need to make snarky comments about donations because you have a chip on your shoulder about money then perhaps this site isn't for you?

I am happy with arrangement of donations, and occasional polite prompts for donations as a means of helping out. So are many others. Others contribute in other positive ways as you have pointed out.

And you have to agree that PA's setup is a darned sight more superior than the godawful Godlike Productions (https://www.godlikeproductions.com), for example, with its ads for "5 pairs of Fun Women's Socks Cute Cat Animals Funny Funky Novelty Cotton" and other assorted crap.

He does, all the time. Bill simply needs to pay the costs of the infrastructure to this site which allow you and I to contribute. His infrequent polite requests are never intended to offend you or any other member, I'm sorry you took it as a personal slight on your valued contributions, I'm sorry you misunderstood.

I did love your Mozart video. Magnificent work. Such dedication, passion and teamwork. Did you notice that the Pope applauded the whole work, the whole orchestra, he didn't single out the conductor or point at individual violinists that he liked? So it is with a great painting, we miss the small strokes and see the whole wonderful picture. Your still new here, exhale. It's no big deal if you cannot afford it yet or ever, but be mindful of the Streisand effect... Be well... N

thanks Janette! and please do post more:flower:

with each post we get better and better at articulating thoughts and ideas, and over time develop a style to communicate with all sorts of different personalities. it's an invaluable tool!! communication is the art/glue that holds the world together..or if done wrongly, pulls it apart. here on avalon we get the perfect opportunity to improve daily. the fact that we discuss topics i really like is just icing on the cake for me; i think the awareness we create about conspiracies and the role we play spreading the word on various paranormal topics is secondary to the skills we're developing along the way as the result of having to deeply think about something and then having to articulate that something in writing. in this way it's a totally unique opportunity.

As you've seen, there's no advertising here of any kind, the entire thing is subscription-free, and you now have access to an immense library of searchable information, and the opportunity to participate and add to that as much as you wish.

In various ways, it all costs quite a lot to maintain.

We do need your voluntary financial support.

Thank you. :star:

My 2003 RAV4 is getting up there in age, but Bill’s 1986 Isuzu Trooper is miles ahead of mine.

Bill, please delete if it’s inappropriate to add part of your post (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?108762-Turmoil-in-Ecuador&p=1318686&viewfull=1#post1318686) from this morning.

I have a problem that I'd not shared, that my very old 4x4 (a 1986 Isuzu Trooper that's done 235,000 miles) cracked a fuel line under the chassis when I crashed through one of the road blocks last week. I only noticed it the other day, and my full tank has been very slowly emptying itself with a little drip. I've not been able to repair it myself, and I calculated it'd be empty in maybe 10 days. (But I do have 2-3 gallons in reserve in cans.)

So now I can

Get that repaired.
Get some more food for Mara the :dog:. :)

Hi Mark

I was unable to donate because none of my cards work with paypal :/

Apparently, i'm still considered a "kid" with the cards i have because of how i got them from my mom, and i can't do anything online with them :[

This is what happens, i could not activate my cards with paypal, but i was able to get a deposit on paypal from a friend into the paypal account i created. However every time that i try to make the donation it doesn't allow me and asks me to register a credit card :[[

I'm not sure how to work around this

I thought maybe it's because deposits on the destination go directly into a bank account?

Could it be possible to send a paypal to paypal transaction to other member here and then they can make the donation?

My head is giant right now out of stress of trying to figure this one out, so i'm sorry if i'm not making any sense about this LMAO :S

Your suggestion is a good one. While we wait to see if someone knows how to do 3rd party transaction (Is that what it’s called? https://i.imgur.com/rwOW7mc.gif), a few ideas come to mind. Give your Mom the cash and use her PayPal account. Send a money order. Purchase an on-line gift card through Amazon or other food places like iHerb and Vitacost.

Bill might want to weigh in here about the gift cards. IIRC he has a friend that brings him his vitamins because it’s too costly to ship goods.

I contribute a small amount monthly. We absolutely need the ongoing presence of a free forum to share information. i have never found another forum that lives up to the reputation of PA. Here, if people are respectful, they may say what they think. When an issue is important, people don't usually turn threads into one liner absurdities.

If everyone contributes regularly, that is an "action" supporting the intention we always have a means to access IMPORTANT VARIETY OF POV and the chance to find the truth in the propaganda push. I have an axiom, "where there is choice, there is a chance". PA offers us as much information as we can gather together to allow INFORMED choice.

Yes, we have an extra expense now, because of the wise decision — we believe! — of establishing an additional full daily backup, for both the forum and library, outside of any US jurisdiction. See this announcement thread (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?112716-About-forum-backups--important-and-good-news-). For non-members reading this, it's simply a risk management exercise.

At the moment our host, who also manages all our backups, has their server in the US. So it was an all-eggs in-one-basket situation. In the event there was a US executive order to shut down all NWO-critical 'alternative' sites — which is unlikely but not impossible these days — Avalon could vanish into thin air, with backups inaccessible, if we didn't have an additional safety net. So now that's all taken care of, and we can sleep a little more easily.

The cost of the extra service was small: just over $40/month. But it's still something, when everything is and always has been very tightly managed.

Avalon's costs have soared recently, with the second backup we now have (outside the US, a needed safety net in case any plugs were suddenly pulled), and also a new host for the library which has been growing and growing and now needs twice the space and much more bandwidth.

S the annual costs were $4200/year, but now stand at $4800. That takes up a full third of my tiny tiny income. :)

So for those of you who can afford it (and I do know some just can't!), please do remember to support us every now and then if you can. Just small amounts here and there do very gradually add up to make all the difference in the world.

A few words.
Project Avalon almost never outright asks for money. I’ve followed many years and it is very very rare
It costs a lot of money to run, notwithstanding effort.
There is no other forum like this. There really isn’t.
In these times this forum is an anchor of humanity in a storm of dark chaos
I don’t contribute much, I don’t do the hard research and I’m not smart enough.
Those here who do the hard work, WOW. Thank you.
Because I need Avalon, this world needs Avalon, I contribute monthly .
That’s what I can do. That’s how I can help.
Avalon is truly a Blessing.

I don’t contribute meaty, thought- provoking posts… that’s for greater minds than mine (and there are many fine minds here!)
However…….. because I donate a small amount monthly, I can hold my head high… I’m part of this community, and I can post if I want to🤗

UPDATE AGAIN: I was able to donate by signing on to my account and adding the donation@projectavalon.net address.

* The two pay pal buttons on the forum site still don't work for me.

Just a reminder if anyone can help with donations, no matter how small, it is very much appreciated to help with the costs involved with running this very wonderfully unique forum.

So many are having problems financially and that is well understood, but if anyone is able to help with a donation please help if you can. :bearhug: :grouphug:

I’ve tried 5 times to access pay pal donations but I get the same response of spinning “Please wait” sign. I'll try back later.

* The two pay pal buttons on the forum site still don't work for me.Dear Friends, my warmest thanks to everyone who's been so kind to chip in to help with the costs, whether it's a couple of dollars every now and then or maybe sometimes quite a bit more.

A couple of small notes:

I checked the PayPal buttons on the page reached via the orange How to Donate button (at the top right of any forum page), and using Firefox on Mac I couldn't replicate a problem. If anyone can offer any clues about what any issues might be, I'd very much appreciate it.

(But yes, just logging into PayPal.com (http://PayPal.com) and sending "as a friend" to donation@projectavalon.net should work fine, bypassing the buttons completely.)

The cost of running the forum, including the Library and all backups, is now a little over $5,500/year. It's more than the $4,200 that's seen as a regular acknowledgement note if anyone makes a donation large or small, but I'm not able to actually change what it says. :)

Is there any way to donate other than PayPal?

I had some really nasty experiences lasting for more than a year, where they froze over $3000, and I finally managed to close my account for good.

Added to that their policy to fine account holders $2500 for opinions that don’t match theirs.
From ForbiddenKnowledge:

#SpookdBlog to Tim
PayPal breaks these laws with its new rules:
1) Larceny - unlawful seizure of a client’s funds
2) seizure of client’s funds to prevent Freedom of Speech
3) Coercion

I’m sure there are afew more,
But, I’ll let the Dept of Treasury OCC rule on that and PayPal can try to defend itself when the OCC shuts it down and freezes all its assets - for starters.

I want to see PayPal shut down and its officers arrested for their unlawful contractual changes instituting coercive terms.“

Xe.com possibly? They do bankless transfers, although they are still subject to every countries rules. They are one of the non-paypal transfer methods, there are others about too.

Everyone knows and loves donations but what about those feelgood tips?

They're a trillion times more smiley-er and make a great sound when they hit the jar.

I'm waving a tip flag for the server this morning right up until my arm aches or I need to make another coffee.

Electronic tips don't make that cool change-in-jar sound but here are some sound effects instead: coin sounds c/o Free SFX (https://www.freesfx.co.uk/sfx/coins)

Dear Friends, thank you so very much once again.

Avalon running costs have recently soared to $6,400/year (Aargh! :) ), and it's only through your collective kindness and generosity that we can keep it all going. (And so far, so good: the forum's NOT in any danger at all.)

I refuse to monetize the forum (or any of my videos), as I abhor all commercialization, a kind of creeping virus of its own that's infected almost all of the alt media. I will never ever ever do that.

Dear Friends, I think you all know that I'm always very reluctant to ask for more assistance re donations. But funds really are very low again, with donations rather few and far between, with it's once more becoming a tricky stretch to meet all Avalon's monthly payments. (I do fully understand this is likely to be because of increasing justified uncertainty about financial affairs in North America, Europe and Australia/NZ!)
(And a side note in appreciation) — Back in January, Casey Claar (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/member.php?49082-Casey-Claar), with her typical kindness, made a donation (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?111959-About-Ecuador&p=1652045&viewfull=1#post1652045) very specifically to help me acquire a larger power generator, inviting others to do the same. Nothing became of that, but I was able to take advantage of her generosity to provide a much-needed service for my little generator which is now working 100% perfectly, good as new, after hundreds of hours of hard work during Ecuador's record drought (and extended power outages) last year.
:muscle:
So that's not the issue at all. :) It's just about keeping Avalon running, including the additional longstanding need to upgrade the Avalon Library, and also ensure that the forum is well-protected against attacks, a few of which we've been experiencing lately but which Paul (ThePythonicCow) has always been able to protect against.

Nothing huge is needed. Just one or two very modest extra donations which together are likely to make all the difference, Thank you all!

Maybe we can do a little more than get just over the hump and ease the stress of the coming month(s). Dear Friends, a brief post to thank all those who've been so generous to donate in the last few days. It's really made a huge difference. I can't appreciate it enough.

I heard that one or two members somehow didn't seem to receive my personal email thanks. (Are these sometimes going into spam??) So at the risk of embarrassing some members' very modest and private generosity, I'm taking the liberty of mentioning below those who've so very kindly donated.

So just in case you never got to see my immediate acknowledgement, I'd like to most warmly and sincerely thank you here. (I think I've included everyone. But in the event I've missed someone, please immediately let me know!)

Another gentle reminder for members who are able help with a donation to the Project Avalon Forum. Funds are running low again so help with the ongoing expenses are so much appreciated. Thank you to Paul (ThePythonicCow (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/member.php?2030-ThePythonicCow)) for helping to keep the costs as low as possible for our growing and changing needs.:shooting star:

It is all the members that make Project Avalon what it is, contributing, sharing and supporting others here. Hopefully, we are also helping others around the world who read these contributions and explore, compare or contemplate different views, reported news, important information, history and spiritual understandings we individually experience.

Some members may have recently read posts where Bill has shared some personal unforeseen events in his and Mara’s life. With his very modest pension, it has become difficult to meet these extra costs for himself and Mara. Even small donations can add up that could make a big difference and provide some support for Bill and make things just a little easier for him right now. :grouphug: Bill would be very reluctant to ask for assistance, as he knows many are very stretched making ends meet right now in their lives.:bearhug:

Yes, I'm a little squeezed right now. :flower: 6 weeks ago my blind mountain wonder-dog Mara had a miraculously effective injection of monoclonal antibodies for the apparent beginnings of arthritis, and she's now running about like she's a good 2 or 3 years younger. (Maybe I should have one of those, too!)

But it was expensive, and the cost almost cleaned me out. After that, I had a heart scan as my low blood pressure was low (which showed my heart is 100% strong) but also a recommended blood test, which seemed to reveal a possible/potential thyroid issue which I described on this new thread (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?130601-A-Thyroid-question).

That really did clean me out. Since then I've not been able to drove to the local high mountains for our regular hikes, as I can't afford the gasoline/petrol. (We've been hiking locally instead, but it's not quite the same as there are NO beautiful lakes.)

And I've been digging into my emergency food supplies, not a huge problem at all as the quality is high, but of course I can't do that forever. And coming up sometime soon may the need for follow-up treatment for Mara — though I'm hoping she might not need it! — but definitely a follow-up blood test for myself and (if possible) consultation with a local holistic practitioner who is also quite expensive but very very good.

So I'm literally counting the pennies. Avalon costs are fully covered through recurring monthly donations, which I'm always immensely grateful for. My meager UK pension is just $400, a tiny amount but fully adequate for Ecuador as my old farmhouse is fully paid for and I have no other debts. But it's just not enough to allow for any unexpected expenses.

This is rather a long post, an I apologize for that. :) I truly know and understand that many others reading this have their own financial squeezes, which they cope with quietly and stoically. But as the thread title suggests, it's merely a reminder to anyone who might just be able to assist a little.

Bill,

You, or someone FOR you should always let us know when coffers are low, most notably your own personal stash. This is what community is for, spreading things around to help make them be what they need to be to keep a whole structure afloat. Givers often are far better at this than receiving .....(gotta get that practice in where we're not as strong). Ask just about anyone here.

A further big THANK YOU!! to everyone who was able to so kindly donate a little something.

As most reading this will know, I live very frugally (but very healthily) here — on a tiny $400/month UK pension! — the only downside of which is that if anything unexpected comes along, I'm immediately thrown into a squeeze. But now the new donations mean that I can now

Get some expert holistic treatment for my strange new thyroid issue (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?130601-A-Thyroid-question) (not serious! But like a small hole in one's pocket, it needs to be mended before it gets bigger)
Have a couple new blood tests next month to measure the progress of the remedies
Get a bunch more raw cacao and maca (all part of the healing regimen)
Also tend to Mara's very beginnings of arthritis (she's been fine for 8 weeks now since a high-tech injection of monoclonal antibodies (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?122698-Dogs-Health-and-Wellness&p=1689068&viewfull=1#post1689068) which made a whole huge world of difference. But she may need a booster sometime, and the treatment is expensive)
Renew some of my emergency longlife food supplies, which I'd been digging into somewhat after my fridge grew a little empty
(...and importantly!) Go back to the high mountains again for our regular hikes, which I had to stop doing as I just didn't have the gasoline/petrol.
:happy dog:

So things feel very much normalized now. And once again, I'm so immensely grateful to all of you who so kindly stepped in to lend a hand.

Bill, those are all pretty necessary expenses. I am sad that you would not go to the mountains because of the expense, because that seems to me a spiritual activity for you, and one that benefits us all. Please ask when you need support. Having said that, I can imagine hw difficult that would be for most of us to do. But it then gives those who are able to give the opportunity to give, which benefits us all..
