The Sunspot Number (http://spaceweather.com/glossary/sunspotnumber.html) is 122 (at the time of this post) and there have been several M-class flares (http://spaceweather.com/glossary/flareclasses.html) and an elevated chance of X-class flares. This plot from SDO's EVE investigation (http://lasp.colorado.edu/eve/) shows the increase in flare activity observed by EVE's EUV SpectroPhotometer (ESP).
