James O'Keefe Speech at 29th Annual G.K. Chesterton Conference
Aug 13 2010
On August 6th, I was privileged to give a talk on the importance of undercover journalism vs. stenography – what the mainstream media usually does.

The last speech is 25 minutes long but well worth the time spent for watching it. Very funny guy giving the speech. All journalists need to see this.

:bored:Was NPR's bias ever a secret? Frankly all media outlets smear the Tea Party. Furthermore more substance can be gleaned there than Fox News. I also didn't notice anything anti-semitic about his remarks. He did seem to be stroking Muslims..:cheer2:

We Call On the MSM to Adopt the ‘Rose/O’Keefe Standard of Journalistic Transparency’
With their most recent undercover video investigations, independent journalists James O’Keefe and Lila Rose have set a new standard of transparency in the field of journalism — a standard I call on all media outlets — print, online, and broadcast — to adopt and to institute immediately. Within hours of releasing what the AP called “heavily edited” video footage of a high-powered NPR executive’s troubling statements with respect to the Tea Party, conservatives, and Jewish control of the media, Mr. O’Keefe then released to the public the full, unedited two-hour video of the entire conversation. Another New Media pioneer, Lila Rose, also released the full video of her undercover investigation of Planned Parenthood.
While the biased AP apparently only whips out the term “heavily edited” when the institutional left is under fire, it’s difficult to disagree with them on principle, especially when we live in a world where on a daily basis the network nightly news programs, Jon Stewart’s “Daily Show,” MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, and every facet of the MSM broadcast and publishing world release reports no less “heavily edited” than Rosa and O’Keefe’s initial video releasse. However, unlike Rose and O’Keefe, the mainstream media never allows the public to view the full, unedited material in order to judge the full context for ourselves.
This can and must end today.
With New Media once again leading away, let’s start a new era of responsible journalism that we’ll call The Rose/O’Keefe Standard of Journalistic Transparency, where the insidious practice of “heavily edited” interviews and reporting finally comes to an end. If the mainstream media is as devoted to transparency, truth, and context as James O’Keefe, here are some examples of how it can work….
Within hours of a “heavily edited” broadcast report or interview on the CBS Evening News, Katie Couric and CBS will release online any and all video used to compile that report. Within hours of the Associated Press or Politico releasing an article quoting an interview subject, the AP and Politico will release the notes and/or audio recordings of the full unedited interview. The same with Rachel Maddow, and because he’s The New Murrow and awfully concerned with how the media behaves — Jon Stewart himself should lead the way with the release of the full video of any and all interviews within hours of his wacky editors making the latest “Daily Show” target look like a fool.
Because Mr. O’Keefe and Ms. Rose have led the way in journalistic transparency and taken the first step, as a show of good faith from the MSM in accepting this offer, we call on Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric to release every frame of video involving their 2008 interviews with then Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin.
some comments on this article
It's a great idea, but unlikely to happen, since the big media outlets are not interested in the truth, they're interested in promoting an agenda. It's much harder to control the message without editing.
------------------------------------
Unfortunately, because the truth has no agenda, the LSM/Collaborators can't go along for the very reason they HAVE an agenda... and far be it from the truth!
------------------------------------
You're asking the "so-called" professional journalists to do their job. They are not professional journalists anymore than I am. They are instead professionals in the field of marketing. They tell us what their corporation pays them to report. They DO NOT REPORT THE NEWS ! ! They craft a message that supports the agenda of their corporate bosses. They ARE NOT HONEST BROKERS ! ! It's not just the liberal news outlets. In addition to the broadcast media, you need to include all Cable/Satellite news/commentary programs (FoxNews, CNN, MSNBC, Bloomberg, etc.) Today's real news comes to us from a broad base of internet sources and the informed citizen must sort out what is real and what is not. Next time you watch the "NEWS" step back and look at who is selling what. Katie Couric and her ilk are not looking out for you.
------------------------------------
Just as Arizona is doing what the federal government refuses to do with regard to the border, James O'Keefe is doing what the mainstream media refuses to do: reporting the news.
------------------------------------
I was thinking about this about O'Keefe, he is pretty much a modern day journalistic gumshoe with cameras really. Afterall, he is doing what the media refuses to do, its job. He is one of a handfull of people currently doing actual investigative work into the world or politicits and corruption.
But from what I can tell to, I think OKeefes standard of jouranalism is way too high for the rest of the media to even think of reaching. And as people are seeing, they are exposing the liberal media for the worthless cowards they are.
------------------------------------
Getting the marxist, socialist media to show an entire interview will never happen. It would ruin their form of journalism. BTW, most of their viewers have the attention span of a gnat.

Hello 3optic, thanks for being the first to post a reply in this thread.
"...stroking Muslims.." haha... seemed that way!
I don't watch alot of TV except for History Channel and Fringe lol so I do not know what the views of NPR are. The Tea Party has alot of right ideas if they can stop criminal organizations and corporate agendas from infiltrating. Transparency is the key here. Most all of the news that is reported on the mainstream channels is very heavily edited. (unlike our own Bill Ryan who releases very lightly edited if not full interviews.) They take snips of interviews out of context and run the story to portray whatever view their corporate sponsors want. NPR received $450 million last year in federal funding. They are paying them to be a certain way and have a certain outlook on things. This is sad and needs to stop. I would love to see government out of businesses and corporate sponsorship to stop dictating what is aired on news stations. People need to be able to realize what is right and wrong and get rid of the agendas that dictate the news.
Full transparency ahead.

If we are to create a new age, a new day, a new dawn ~ it will be necessary to stop playing the old biased, negative, cycles of hate and loathing and move out into the sunshine of a new era. Goodbye Fox News, NPR et al ~ It feels very much like doom and gloom and we need to resist participating in this torture over and over again. There are new choices ~ Starting now. We can turn it off with a flip of our wrist like we do the tv. xoxox
