Hello Friends
I have noticed increasingly lately my own firewall warning me and not allowing me to look at certain web sites. Because i browse a lot of natural resource and alternate news it blocks or tries to block it. Now this is apparently coming from my own fire wall but my theory is its being updated by TPTB to censor information. Very sneaky way to do it .. I have Trend Micro .. well not for much longer ..
I have also tried to change the settings in my own fire wall and it wont allow me anymore since these new warnings have been coming up. This is a very strange string of events. Warning, if your own firewall does not let you adjust its own settings then something is wrong.
This has come about in the past few months as social sites have been bought up and major browsers have now been corrupted further.
Please check your settings and firewall has not been corrupted
, if so i suggest doing a reinstall or take the settings back dating them to before Dec 2010 ... thats when i started to notice these things but i am no PC expert.. make sure you consult someone that is knowledgeable .. indeed if i am making a
" mole out of a pimple " im open to advice :)

I have used Zone Alarm free for years and have had great results. I have resisted upgrades though.;)

What do you think Bill appointed mods and admins for?
You think we should have a free for all?
Didn't we just have one of those that ended up with people being hellbanned and others leaving?

Try Comodo Internet Security Premium (free). If it blocks you from visiting a website, you can always turn it off temporarily, then turn it on again.
Nairnia, the PA thread in your link has been closed and all posts deleted. Can you tell us what was in it of relevance here, or repost here plz?

I could write pages about security.
Simply all you need nowadays in an online scanner. Most intelligent undetected mailware/rogue AV will cripple your protection anyhow and report back nothing to the unsuspecting user. Online scanners cannot be corrupted as easily as those who have home/client protection which as a norm is always configured at default and can be problematic.
Most people use a router also, so firewall paranoia is not what it was like many years ago, when OS's weere alot more open than todays offerings.
The likes of Norton, AVG and the rest of the mainstream protection are naff and i base my comments on many years of experience. If you have a strong degree of common sense and understanding then malicious software can be combatted with relative ease. Good practise and backups etc will always prevail and with equal justice never listen to the barrack room lawyer and examine all that is before you.

Are there any in particular you recommend? I have an iMac as well as a PC. Thanks!
