I was going to entitle this article “A Stargate Ate My Hamster” to excite the natives! But I decided to stick with “Be Who You Are,” as this will only attract a few people of a similar wavelength. My focus is on the spiritual and beyond.

There are two aspects to our being: one is conceptual mind and the other is non-conceptual pure consciousness. When we are caught in a conceptual mind, the situation around us is controlling us. We react to it, which sets up a whole string of concepts and we just go around in circles, repeating the same things and reacting in the same way. At that moment, we have lost sight of our inner essence.

A problem also arises with the spiritual aspect, because that too can become conceptual. The meditation has to be broken to cut through any conceptual ideas about what is being experienced, because that itself obscures the experience. There is a saying; when one looks out, one says:

“Not this, not this, thou are that. Not this, not this.”

Be at peace.

Fellow inmates...when we lose our still inner centre, the external is controlling us – watch out! This is part of their game. That is their intention. In Tibetan Buddhism, they are given the name Maras, and they feed off our emotions.

Be at peace.
