You are empty essence, cognisant nature and compassionate energy.
These 3 aspects of your true nature are called, in Sanskrit, the 3 kayas – Dharmakaya, Sambogakaya and Nirmanakaya. That is what you truly are.
However, because of confusion, we turn into entities of desire, aversion and ignorance (these could also be called hope, fear and indifference – or like, dislike, and don't care). This is a product of the world around us, and our own clinging to that, and so we clone ourselves. The antidote of all that is realising your true nature, which has been covered up and is thus now unfamiliar.
Your true being is a constant: everything else is changeable and impermanent and requires maintenance. The shadow people also have this true nature, are driven by hope, fear and ignorance of one's true nature (these are also known as the 3 poisons).
This, of course, is just information.
Through meditation, it is turned into knowledge.
Through non-meditation, it is realised as wisdom.
This is what the shadow people don't want you to know, and they have put a lot of effort into covering it up – and we spend our time maintaining it.
This is now you wake up:
Don't wander, don't wander
Place mindfulness on guard;
Along the road of distraction
Mara lies in ambush
Mara is the mind, clinging to like and dislike;
So look into the essence of this magic
Free from dualistic fixation.
Realise that your mind is unfabricated primal purity.
There is no Buddha elsewhere;
Look at your own face.
There is nothing else to search for.
Rest in your own place.
Non-meditation is spontaneous perfection
So capture the royal seat.
The 3 aspects of our being are known as 'the view'. There are 2 ways to meditate: one is to meditate and then discover the view, and the other is to have the view pointed out by a qualified teacher, and then the continuity of that is the meditation. Meditation is a vehicle to realise your true nature; once you realise it, you drop the vehicle: that is non-meditation (but this is a very advanced state).
I am not a qualified teacher – just a spiritual friend!
Be at peace
