View Full Version : The magnetic field is doing interesting and unusual things....

Hi All, I just saw this video which I though was fascinating and wanted to share. It shows the earth's magnetic field acting in an unusual manner.
I don't have a compass or I'd be trying it out myself.

Can't watch this video at work but I'll definitely watch it when I get home. Thanks for the post!

Thanks, Teakai, it is interesting, though I find Dutchsinse's explanations somewhat vague and unconvincing. Those of his friends aren't much better.

One of the difficulties is the Japanese site itself. The simulation is brilliant, the documentation inscrutable. Maybe because I'm not a physicist.

(Dutchsinse, 1:14) And then you see it. Wham! The North and South Poles have an issue.

Yeah, great. What exactly do you mean?

If you want to reproduce his findings, go to Real-time Magnetosphere Simulation (http://www2.nict.go.jp/y/y223/simulation/realtime/), ignore "The simulation has been stopped due to power outage" [see Note below], click Home, then under Movie Archive, click View and download the movie archive with the date 03/30/2011, currently at the top of the page.

http://i52.tinypic.com/15482e9.png

Your file should be titled test_6.20110330.avi. Run the movie until the screen matches the one in Dutchsinse's video. Here I am using VLC Media Player.

Still from Dutchsinse's video at 00:16:

Here is the explanation of the parts of the simulation:
http://i54.tinypic.com/qxqqag.png

To find this, from the NICT Home page, click About Real-Time Magnetosphere Simulation, then click the thumbnail image to magnify it. You will see from it that under "normal" conditions the blue (cyan) and red magnetic lines of force are distributed more or less symmetrically about a horizontal axis going through the Earth.

http://i55.tinypic.com/55gokg.png

At 1:14 in the simulation movie they are very asymmetrical; the red lines are hardly visible.

http://i56.tinypic.com/2wfo5fl.png

This is the point I think Dutchsinse is trying to make.

Note:

When you click on this link Real-Time Magnetosphere Simulation the very first thing you will notice is a BIG disclaimer at the top stating, "The simulation has been stopped due to power outage."

THIS IS NOT THE CASE!!!

I've been in several threads throughout the night and this morning, and even though it has been posted about a thousand times, I thought this issue deserved it's own thread because it seems like every fourth post says, "The website says it's offline." Apparently these kind folks are just jumping into the threads at the end without reading through them first.

If people would bother to read the threads - any of them - they would have noticed that those of us who have been watching it are having to repeat ourselves over, and over, and over: The website is NOT offline; the pictures are updating every few minutes. It just seems like the webmaster has better things to do than to take down the "Out-of-Order" sign at the top of the simulation.

I hope that clears up any confusion.

Note also: As Dutchsinse's friend explains towards the end of his video, NICT keep changing the actual movie displayed under a given date, so if you go to the movie archive and select the movie test_6.20110330.avi, it is possible you may find you have a different movie with the same title. To overcome this I have uploaded this particular file here (http://ifile.it/ex713hm/test_6.20110330.avi) (21 Mb, for your test purposes only).

Hint: Slow down the movie by pressing the minus (-) key, speed up by pressing plus (+), or return to normal speed by pressing equal (=) key. Look up keyboard shortcuts in VLC Player. I use this for all video and could use it for audio as well though I prefer Spider Player for audio. Both are freeware (Windows OS).

Maybe this is why I don't feel the need to eat or sleep as much in the last few months.

I have also gained body weight but not fat, maybe my bone density is increasing?

I need to do more research.

Anyone else experience these things recently?

I strongly doubt that a changing magnetic field is influencing any of your symptoms.

Yeah i'm getting by on about 2 hours less sleep a night. This has been going for a few months now.The cause might be the magnetic field fluctuations or what ever is causing the magnetic field disturbances.

Interesting times.

Hi Str8thinker, I'm not sure of the point you're making re: the simulators. Anomolies are still showing up on the compasses.
It's very likely I have missed something obvious, but it will need to be explained to me. (very simply)

Strange you should mention a change in your sleeping pattern, ive also just started to experience waking up at least twice a night , and no its not to use the loo, it also coincided with aquireing tinnitus at 11000 hz in the last two months. getting used to this high pitched tone now ,

Late last summer I began lying out a ‘”water feature” and large area in my yard for my medicinal herbs. I had a friend who has survey type equipment with a laser come to line up my fencing lines for me. The directions are important because I want true North, South, East, and West corners (4 Spiritual corners). Some of the flags were misplaced through the fall and winter by my free ranging chickens and so he came back two days ago to mark to lines for me again.

ALL the lines are off 4 degrees. He marked them about 8 months ago.

Don’t think I’m going to get my true four directional corners unless I have a “self adjusting” fence and garden.

Go with the flow . . . . .

Yeah i've had the ringing for a few years now.It used to move around from ear to ear a bit but was usually in the right ear.Now it's mostly centered but can still move around a bit and sometimes coincides with paranormal activity.

The thing with the less sleep that i now get is that i still feel just as fresh with less sleep.

cheers

like BOB I too am waking twice per night, and my dream worlds are super vivid.
i no longer realise i am dreaming regardless of the fantastic elements but believe myself to be wherever I am and therefore do not attempt to control them as in lucid dreaming.

Hi guys! I noticed the Mag going nuts last night and posted this over younder but it got lost in discussion:

http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?16834-Rare-Space-Weather-Event%21%21&p=187638&viewfull=1#post187638

I have noticed my compass going haywire when there are magnetic storms like the one we had last night, and things are still unsettled even now.

Remember, the magnetosphere of Earth is a region in space whose shape is determined by the Earth's internal magnetic field, the solar wind plasma, AND the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF). I noticed that while the Earth was going though the super high density ions yesterday, the IMF swung way down onto the southern hemisphere. This always greatly weaken Earth's magnetic field, letting huge numbers of charged ions pass into our atmosphere...thus magnificent auroras like the ones being shown on Spaceweather.com. Compassed go nuts (like in the video) and the Mag Simulator shows the magfield with it's "tails" all in a knot. If you look right now, the tails are not knotted up , but are flaring back out behind the earth:

http://www2.nict.go.jp/y/y223/simulation/realtime/

All I can guess is that we did go through some super-magnetically charged plasma/solar wind, probably caused by the magnetic filament that exploded and lifted off the sun yesterday.

As long as it was a short-lived phenom, we're still ok..... no pole shift yet, but look out for more EQs.

It's sort of weird to think all this amazing stuff is happening around us - but so many people are totally unaware.

Hi Teakai, I'm far from an expert and it's difficult to find web pages that really explain it well, but imagine you're in a small boat rowing upstream in a river with a powerful current. If you're facing the current head-on, then the wake will be symmetrical on both sides of the boat. If you turn the boat at an angle to the current, the wake will not be the same on both sides.

In addition, if your speed up the river varies, when you are pushing hard against the current, you will notice a prominent bow wave. When you're drifting with the current there will be no bow wave.

Both of these effects can be seen in the simulation and are mentioned by Dutchsinse, who I think is also rather self-taught.

In the normal course of events the current of particles arriving from the Sun is steady and evenly distributed, so that the magnetosphere remains fairly stable. Maybe lately there's been a lot more CME which has destabilized the magnetosphere and this has deflected the lines of magnetic force and thus magnetic North.

I haven't as yet had the time to check this with my own compass but it is a fairly crude instrument anyway. IMO, it would be more likely to be affected by local electric currents, so for any readings to be valid, you would need to inspect it from within a Faraday cage such as an old microwave oven. Please let us know if you try this.

IMO the only way to correlate changes in magnetic North with magnetosphere fluctuations would be to graph both together. Surely there is some scientific institute doing this already. Whether their results are available online may be up to the PTB. We have already seen how cagey NASA are starting to become about their satellite data.

It turns out that this video by carneyart was lifted and added, without acknowledgement, to Dutchsinse's video. You will see exactly the same footage, starting at about 9:30. So it refers to the same event. However, now that we know who made it, we can follow his site directly in case he posts more.

Thanks for explaining Str8thinker.
Just gotta ask, though - why do you Carneyart's video was lifted without permission?
I got the feeling that Carneyart was doing it outside to show Dutch's picky audience that he was legit.

I wonder if CERN being fired up just before the Japan earthquake has anything to do with the strange fields...
