Hi just thought you might like to be aware of this publication from the National Disaster Education Coalition (http://www.disastereducation.org/guide.html), based in Washington and thus particularly applicable to US situations.

It first came out in 2002 and the latest version is dated August 2004. Its main value is that it contains comprehensive advice for preparing for nearly all kinds of disasters, natural and man-made, and also has lots of handy addresses and phone numbers for whom to contact. Topics covered include:
