View Full Version : Tried to order chlorella but it's sold out?

Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble getting Chlorella, especially from the Mercola website?
I'm trying to find a high quality Chlorella to use to supplement my diet and ultimately to boost my immune system against radiation. I know that there are several other things I can do but I want to get the Chlorella ASAP as I usually take baby steps.
Can MMS prevent or remove radiation too? I have some of that stored away that I never really got into (at the time). Hopefully, it's still useful.
Yes, I have spent too much time telling others not to panic. I feel that it's time to get serious about what we face in the upcoming days/weeks/months/years.

I'm sure that my favorite brand of Chlorella is still in stock: Swanson Kyoto Brand Kyoto Chlorella (http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWK002/ItemDetail).
This is common in such situations. The boutique houses that do a better job of addressing specific needs, such as Dr. Mercola's, will run out, while the big houses such as Swanson's that handle a bigger and broader inventory and larger sales will still have plenty.

Ok, don't take this the wrong way but why would anyone want to buy a product from Japan with the current nuclear crisis?
Just wondering. I'm looking for something that's high quality as well.

What's on the shelf now was made before the crisis.
Though your comment reminds me - there may be a shortage of this chlorella in the not too distant future.
I'm glad I already have an ample supply stocked up. I put away another years supply of it in February 2011. Looking now, I see it has a manufacturing date of November 2010.
It is very high quality, as best as I can tell.

Looking at the packaging for this product, up to 15 tablets, 1 to 3 times a day?
That's an awful lot. It must not be potent. I can imagine running out quickly and it's certainly not cheap.

Are you referring to the Swanson Kyoto Brand Kyoto Chlorella (http://www.swansonvitamins.com/SWK002/ItemDetail) that I linked above?
The tablets are small, 1/5 gram each. So 15 tablets provides 3 grams. Chlorella is more a food than a vitamin or medicine - one can happily consume many grams per day.
It is the best quality Chlorella I've found, and no, it is not cheap (even though Swanson's, like the other big online nutrient sites, keeps their prices pretty tight.)

Fair enough.
I suppose I could give it a try soon.
I used to take a multivitamin everyday and I've even tried MMS. No harsh effects from either so I could try Chlorella.
Though I did try a smoothie once with spirulina. Hated the taste.

Indeed - tastes bad.
I take Chlorella and Spirulina in tablet form for that reason.
In my smoothie I put many things, including Boku and Vitamineral Green (See reviews at http://johnderrick.com/self_improvement/healthy-lifestyle/healthly-tips/top-10-reasons-boku-superfood-is-better-than-vitamineral-green/ and http://www.naturalnews.com/022753.html, for example.)

No, that is not a lot. Think of Chlorella as FOOD, not medicine. It is a highly concentrated source of nutrition. The more chlorella you eat, you will probably eat less of the food that you normally would, therefore the cost of the chlorella is offset by saving money on other food. You could, if you wanted to, safely consume much greater amounts. Think of it as being like a super-nutritious salad vegetable.
I have taken it in similar doses for about 3 months with no negative side effects (in fact, it was a very positive experience) at I time when I needed all the help I could get, nutritionally speaking. I was advised to start at a low dose and gradually increase the dosage because of a very slight risk of nausea or diarrhoea until your body gets used to it. I did not experience any bad effects so I quickly increased the dose. I don't even like using the word "dose" because it is food, not medicine, although it can have medicinal benefits because it is very concentrated nutrition.
At first, it tasted a bit weird but I quickly aquired the taste and even enjoyed it after about a week. The taste is really minimal unless you suck or chew the tablets, which I did a few times. The only problem with doing that is that your mouth and teeth turn green. Mostly I just swalled the tablets whole, with water. I even tried soaking the tablets in water so I could drink it in liquid form. If you really hate the taste, you can buy it in capsules.
One important thing to think about is that the nutrition is INSIDE the cells, so the cells must be broken. Chlorella cells are virtually indigestible, therefore, they will pass straight through you without releasing their nutrition UNLESS you buy chlorella that has the cell walls "broken" by some means, such as ultrasonically.
You might want to try a chlorella + spirulina combination.
For memory, a lot of chlorella (and spirulina) comes from Korea.
One last thing to be aware of when eating lots of algae... your stool (faeces/poo) will be dark green. Don't worry, that is GOOD.
Always remember the nutritionists mantra - eat as much variety, as many colours, of fresh fruits and vegetables as you can. Eat a rainbow every day.

The tablet taste is minimal - no problem. Just wash a handful of the little tablets down.
The taste problem comes when you get the powder form and put a scoop of it in your smoothie - yuck.

I have a year's supply from Mercola. I always buy in bulk when he has special sales. I've chewed the tablets and they are kind of nutty tasting, not bad. Yes, it is a food product, so it takes a higher 'dose'. Anyone thinking they can get any reasonable nutrients in a single pill is fooling themselves. "One A Day" type vitamins are synthetic junk. The whole food multi-vitamins that are of quality require 6 to 8 capsules or tablets per dose.
So, take lots of the algae type products. They are supremely nutritious. Some say the Manna from heaven that fed Moses and his crew for 40 years was Chorella or algae.
