Hi all

Just watched a video with Rima e laibow and listened to the importance of iodine from foods. It seems sea kelp is very high in Iodine which could give a safer long term protection against cancers and god forbid long time exposure to increased radiation levels.

I live in the UK close to the sea and know the stuff as sea weed, but which is which?
Does anyone have a picture of this kelp that they could post or give general advice on for the UK and other countries as this may be of help to us all.

Hi Ammit,

You might find this link helpful. Further down the page is a chart that describes the various types of seaweed (sea vegetables).

For some people, taking it as a tablet supplement might be the way to go.

For starts, I'd advise focusing your attention on promoting the health of your body rather than avoiding potential problems. Any Asian food store should sell nori, which is the dried seaweed used to wrap sushi. People in Japan often eat it by wrapping bites of rice in it. It also comes in small shredded strips or pieces for sprinkling on rice, that's called (nori flavored) furikake.

I tried some raw seaweed once, was a bit too chewy for my tastes lol I use this kelp now:

bit expensive but since you only need to sprinkle it on in small amounts like you would with salt, it does last a long long time. Some pictures of them harvesting it as well so you can take a closer look at the stuff.
