When I was 21 years old I heard about a diesel engine that was slightly modified to run on vegetable oil. It was amazing and any ordinary diesel could just be changed by easy modification.

Now I have piked in to a discussion where people are running ordinary diesel engines on vegetable oil !

They say it works fine but they have to change the filter more often.
Some are mixing diesel with oil !

Any one here having any own experience in this matter ?

A friend of mine runs his citreon on bio diesel and it works fine, sounds a bit noisier then normal but he recons he saves a fortune on regular diesel. I think he pays around £1.20 a litre for bio so not in my mind saving a fortune but certainly saving some.

I have a customized dual tank Greasecar conversion on my Mercedes 300D. It works great when I can get oil to use.

This short video explains in a simple way how to home made biodiesel using old used cooking oil, sodium hydroxide and methyl alcohol. I found it to be very clear instructions.
