The U.S. federal police asked the public's help to decipher a mysterious code that mystifies experts for over ten years, which the coup could help solve a murder.
The message was encoded on sheets of paper thrust into the pockets of Ricky McCormick, a lover of codes and ciphers, whose body was found in a corn field in Missouri in the summer of 1999. One line reads ALPONTE GLSE - SE OST, but the authorities are unable to determine if it is a cry for help, a reminder to go to the cleaners or a comment about the weather . Even after ten years of effort, cryptologists FBI remains unable to decipher. The two pages of code have been posted in the hope that a member of the public may provide the clue that will unlock the case. Police are particularly interested to get their hands on the codes used or invented by Mr. McCormick. The victim had been seen for the last five days before the discovery of his body and no one had reported missing. The FBI readily concedes that the code will perhaps never deciphered. Police still trying to break the code invented by Zodiac, a serial killer that plagued California in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

It actually reads 'ALPNTE GLSE SE ERTE.
I love a mystery.
I was going to say maybe ALPONTE means 'the bridge as in PONTE ancient Roman but it is actually ALPNTE.
And why pick that line out of it all? As if to emphasize it?
And since when have the F.B.I asked for help with anything?
Hmmm.

Written three days before his death, they consist of a series of letters, numbers and parentheses. Since childhood to this kind of coded language, born of his own imagination it seems. His family and relatives have never bothered to translate. Decryption could establish his schedule and understand why McCormick, having no vehicle, had visited a remote area poorly served by public transport. But never married father of four children, he lived with his elderly mother after growing up in the street. He suffered from chronic heart disease.
Its specialists in cryptography having failed, the FBI turned unsuccessfully to the American Association of cryptograms. Powerful computer programs were equally powerless. Do not expect a reward if you manage to break the code. "Just the satisfaction of knowing that your brain power could help to drag a killer to justice, " Warned U.S. authorities.
According to Foxnews channel, the FBI is literally flooded with suggestions since he posted the appeal for aid on its website. The head of the cryptography asked to send translations by mail rather than email or telephone. He did not have enough staff to follow.

very intriguing indeed. it is quite possible that it may never be deciphered. the human mind is a magical place and perhaps Mr. McCormick's mind worked very differently. he may have been able to read it with no problems. your article doesn't mention if he was a victim of schizophrenia. could be a correlation with that. we may never know the answers.
warmest regards, corson

Hello all
Has it occurred to the FBI or anyone else that it just may not be in code at all and just gibberish? …
Regards to all. JP

Good find and observation John each syllable which to the untrained ear sounds like nonsense. For example hello becomes hudigelludigo.

LOL 'Aiag'.. before I start trying to decipher your code, could you please confirm that it is indeed code for a sentence in English..
Thavaganx!

Hello again Gaia
Give us a clue - is the answer in French or English?
Love to you. JP

It's in the language of Shakespeare my friend:p
In a story posted on the FBI’s website . Investigators say McCormick wrote the 30 lines of “Maddening” letters, numbers, dashes and parentheses, himself and it may contain a clue about his killer. The FBI recalls on its website how to take four points determine a language code to compare, analyze the encryption system, reconstruct the key, then reshape the full text.

I was thinking about this and I was wondering what would happen if the guy was dyslexic? Could that be a part of it? If so then it would be rather difficult to understand what he's trying to state.

Dyslexic? Interesting... I think it would be more phonetic if that was the case, but that could eb a possible cause.
What do we know about this man that woudl give any clues towards it?

Do the FBI happen to know any of his close friends? If so they could see if any of them work with him on these types of codes.
