To me it first looks as if the galaxy is far way and we're just looking from some other galaxy.

But I read the html link and it said the image is a 360 composite, the I'm trying to imagine that perspective. Then would the galaxy arc actually be going over your head, like if you were standing facing the main band, it would arc up and go over you and behind your head? Just guessing here.

Call me confused, but if we are in one of it's outer rings areas approaching the galactic plane who is it we are seeing it as if it's circle somewhere out there? Yes, I am easily confused sometimes, I'm just trying to see the geometry of this and the angels do not add up. I mean could that image be something else besides the galaxy, say an astroid belt?

I like this video, they could have left off the evangelizing at the end, but the info is interesting.

This is a bit confusing, as we are located on the outer arm of our Milky Way Galaxy, on the outer spiral
so this 'Arc' is an illusion created by the 360 degree exposure-wonderful picture but difficult to orient yourself to...
