View Full Version : Cluster of earthquakes in Nevada in the past 7 days

Almost 200 low magnitude earthquakes have been recorded near the California /Nevada border in the past week. Would this tie in with earlier speculations about the next 'hit' being in the US itself? The issue here is that there is no known fault line in the area.
Here's a short article:

I know this lake. Lake Walker just north of Hawthorne, NV. I've been past the gate to the 'Naval Undersea Warfare Base' located in Hawthorne, NV.
The speculation is, there is an underground tunnel connecting the submarine warfare base to the Pacific Ocean. Interestingly, the alleged tunnel passes smack through the earthquake cluster located on the map you linked, TWINCANS.
See this John Lear article, and scroll-down to the map John has drawn of the alleged tunnel location:

Thank you very much for your info, observer. It would appear to be exactly the right area from your map. Not the place to withstand a really strong earthquake, from the description of the 'aero-bar' underlying structure of the cave system. Wondering... a fragile area being 'tweaked' or underground testing causing stress? We shall see, no doubt.

Or if it exists, the base could have been attacked by someone else.

Don't just stop at the John Lear map. Scroll down a little further to the framed area with the title below. Really, really, really interesting.

I sent John Lear an email in an attempt to get a response from him, TWINCANS. Let's see if he responds....

I ran across an article recently about a man-made earthquake test in northwest Nevada reported in the Pittsbury Post-Gazette on September 16, l957. Possible connection with current earthquakes?
It can be found at http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=yLtRAAAAIBAJ&sjid=2WoDAAAAIBAJ&pg=4938,2773018&dq=nevada+earthquakes&hl=en

Belle,
According to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nevada_National_Security_Site
"Between 1951 and 1992, there were a total of 928 announced nuclear tests at Nevada Test Site. 828 were underground. (Sixty-two of the underground tests included multiple, simultaneous nuclear detonations, adding 93 detonations and bringing the total number of NTS nuclear detonations to 1,021, of which 921 were underground.)"
Quite possibly all of these nuclear tests combined had a much greater effect.
However, I think there is something much more sinister going-on here. This densely packed cluster of earthquakes is far too anomalous, and much too synchronous to the alleged underground submarine base at Hawthorne, NV.

Just to update our record here: there were another 28 earthquakes nr Hawthorne on Monday Apr 18, 2011.
I totally agree that there is something worthy of inquiry afoot here - just too many and too consistent. The added concern is that this area may actually represent the firm continental shelf with the lands further west being merely connected via thin bridgings, floating on the Pacific and vulnerable. Is the activity a release of energies from Japan (as part of the Ring of Fire) or being stimulated from another source.

Another update: A further 27 earthquakes today (Apr 19th) nr Hawthorne with a few appearing along the underground 'river' described in the John Lear info posting. BTW no word from him?
