After saying before the 2010 Election "There will be No Carbon Tax" PM Julia Gillard and Climate Change Minister Greg Combet do a Backflip and announce a New Carbon Tax anyway.

This is impossible. Under the “Fast Start Finance” commitment from Cancun, which Combet announced, $599 million will be given to the IPCC under Australia’s combating AGW obligations. This $599 million is on top of the commitment made by Australia at Cancun to give 10% of revenue raised from a carbon tax to the IPCC. Then there will be the bureaucratic expansion to run the tax, checking compliance and eligibility criteria; these administration costs apparently run at 50% for the Australian government.

Hope you're right Jackovesk - people still seem somewhat blinded from where I'm standing, though. Some still believing the global warming hype *YA-A-A-A-AWN*
Some still more interested in anything but what's really happening in the world outside.
I guess life still needs to get a little more uncomfortable for them so they'll look up.

I read in a magazine some time ago - it had these psychic predictions for 2011 - and one of them said that Julia Gillard was going to be ousted due to something she does.

The money raised by Global Warming or Carbon Tax is specifically for funding the One World Government. Period. Global warming is just the excuse to get the money.

....the current government led by Julia Gillard has been shameless.
We watch it unfold before us but when I rub my eyes to re-focus on the surreal (abeit real),
can't get my head around it.....Firstly she elbows Kevin Rudd next she's making behind closed
door dealings to become Prime Minister....projects a 'Peoples Prime Minister' behaviour which is fake as
a clown....how is this supported by her peers?? Is it because:
A. They are all in on it?
B. Afraid to raise their head above the parapet?
C. Just there for the money only to swim with the current?
I suppose it's a combination of many which actually makes me feel ill....

Put the carbon tax and the entire global warming issue in the least common denominator.
Governments want to tax people on the weather, simply the weather.

I firmly believe that conservatives and liberals (not government but people) want to have a clean environment and all of us equally want to curtail or stop our oil dependence. Each one of us, no matter your politics feel that we should be striving for clean renewable energy. I believe that most people feel this should be given a top priority. I also think that liberals and conservative agree that we should be exploring wind, electromagnetic, geothermal, biofuels, hydrogen and every other form of alternative energy that is out there.

In the meantime the governments have found a way to extract money from virtually every single person (that pays tax) in every developed country in the world and that is to tax us on the weather. In todays world if it is too hot or too cold global warming is blamed, too many hurricanes or not enough hurricanes then global warming is blamed.

Only the government wins when they make this a liberal or conservative issue and they are trying their hardest to pit one party against the other and we should see through this for what it really is, control and redistribution in a way that benefits bankers, governments but not people!

So the bottom line is we all want the same thing but we should not allow our governments to take money from the masses and redistribute it as they see fit. I think there is one more thing that we can all agree on and that is when government gets involved, it is inefficient, disorganized and extremely wasteful!

There are two solutions and one is to rise up and overthrow the governments and I don't see that happening or use your vote and make a change. Don't ever take a position of "who cares" or "why vote" that is a defeatist attitude and we all lose when people feel like that!
