Bill has made his and the mods position very clear. He has given his overview of the recent banishment's from the perspective of his own integrity and fairness. I think it is time we must all choose to either accept this or not, either way, can we please draw a line in the sand and evolve out of this disharmonious place?
In my opinion, this episode in Avalon's evolution can either be a negative or a positive experience to look back on, depending on if we choose to find the opportunity hidden within the problem or just see the problem as the complete whole. These losses to our numbers, as unfortunate and confusing as they are, could serve as a catalyst for change, their loss could be our gain. As I see it, the real issue here is not Bill or the mod's integrity, or the crimes that caused the banishment's, the real issue here seems to be transparency.
I am glad I was invited to this private party, thanks Bill, it has been a blast so far, it seems populated with some wonderfully human rebels! But I think it is outgrowing the house party that it was started as. How many members of this house party now, a few hundred, a few thousand? This house party is situated on the front lines of dissent and so will seem a welcome haven to rebels and dissenters of all creeds, you and me included. Dissent, one could argue, is the unifying glue that binds us all together.
Let us not replicate in here, what we are ultimately rebelling against "out there," namely a select minority governing the masses, but answerable to none. So much wisdom has been said on this subject by so many, it would seem, we all would like to see a change. The alternative is more splinter groups, more watering down from concentrate, more factions, more sycophants and more feelings of separateness, less strait talking, less thanks, less dissent and ultimately less us and less Avalon.
We are better than this surely, lets take this house party to the high moral ground and be the change we wish to see.
Personally, I dislike a command and control, chain of command style structure, I feel it is open to infiltration at the top echelons without the knowledge of the lower ranks. However that's just my opinion, what could a better system look like?
What about something like this; Bill as the undisputed hereditary king of the party, his mods as the watchers, doing as they are, in addition perhaps a "jury" thread that could offer potential third strike bans the opportunity to defend themselves to their peers, by way of an appeal? KISS…
The world is in the grip of rebellion. Are we going to fall apart or band together? Your ideas, your solutions, fellow rebels? N
PS: I "like" you all, irrespective of your position or my level of support for your position, my beliefs don't require you to like or agree with mine.
