The UK taxpayers rather than the royal family will actually pay for the lavish USD 48 million ceremony in London.
This is while Britons already pay some GBP 40 million a year to maintain the British royal family.
April 29 has been declared a national holiday to mark Prince William's marriage to Kate Middleton in London's Westminster Abbey.
The one-day holiday is also estimated to cost Britain about USD 10 billion. And yet this is a private wedding, nothing to do with the country.
To compound the situation, the upcoming royal extravaganza comes at a time of worsening economic conditions in Britain, which is struggling with a massive budget shortfall.

I heard 2 days ago that the British government has said that any anti-wedding/royalist protesters will be dealt with swiftly and forcefully.
Huh....
They don't see it like that in Syria though, do they?

I couldn't give a monkey's about the wedding personally, I don't know anyone under the age of 70 who does.
Sign of the times.
Get the buggers out, don't need them.

I see this wedding as an open door for yet another parasite to feed off its host...
I begrudge my taxes going towards the upkeep of these parasitic bastards, whilst
struggling to keep up the payments on my own home!
To spend so much on a wedding whilst the country is on its knees is obscene
proves they dont give a flyin f*ck about the people who are keepin them in the
manner they have become accustomed.

I shall be on a train tomorrow, going out of London, just as they are exchanging lies er vows. I, personally, don't know anyone here in London who cares but a few senior citizens and immigrants are excited!
At least we get a 4 day Bank Jolly.
Certainly, Willy's profile is skyrocketing. Rik Clay had it nailed?
Ho Hum.

I'd send the whole bally lot of them on a fact-finding mission:
Put them all on one of "Lizzie the Lizard's" battleships
Give them enough supplies to last the mission (tins of sardines, SmartPrice bread, fluoridated water etc - stuff us "peasants" have to live on)
Arm the entire hull with cluster bombs, land mines & other weapons they allow the government to use
In fact, put the upper levels of government & "opposition" on there too, they're all bl**dy related anyway
Sink the bugger mid-Atlantic, let them see if they find Atlantis or not!
I realise a 'conclusion' to this little experiment is unlikely to forthcoming, but hey it's the taking part that counts.

Wow! The vast majority of Brits don't care about the royal wedding! You Brits must not be thinking straight. It's the biggest thing since Lindsay Lohan's last scuffle with the law or Mel Gibson's meltdown (BTW: Have you heard that Leeza Gibbons has married a younger man? OMG!).
In the US, we've had (seemingly) non-stop coverage of the "royal wedding" on literally all of our mainstream media channels for at least three weeks now. Why just this morning MSNBC, ABC, CBS and FOX were all giving us a blow-by-blow description of the dog-and-pony show, err, um, I mean wedding, that's about to be. In fact, the "news" they were reporting was so similar that one could almost get the idea that it came from one source they were in such lock-step with each other. I'm sure glad that our government has everything under control now so that celebrity entertainment is all the news that's fit to print. I feel much safer now.
Anyway, I haven't received my invitation yet, but I'm going out to get my red hat today--right after I finish drinking my Kool-Aid.

I want to write something but i don't know what. I don't want to be hateful as i believe that is counter intuitive.
I guess i resent the idea of having a royal family. I know they are not better than me, we all do and yet somehow we still manage as a nation to put them on a pedestal.
I don't believe we actually need a royal family anymore do we?
We have a government all be it as corrupt as the royals. They can operate the police and army why do we still need a monarchy as well?
They are not defenders or role models. I don't know a single person that aspires to be like a member of the royal family.
I will not give away my power by hating them, i don't even know them.
How grand it would be to see streets that aren't lined with onlookers for the wedding. Streets with no traffic at all, just a lonely precession of carriages trotting along with no audience.
Maybe they would get the message then.
