I have a high school age son and am from a family with 1 principal and 9 teachers in it, so I speak from direct experience on all sides. Our education system has been warped, folded, and mutilated to serve up dumbed down rote-riciting slaves to the military-industrial complex--period, at bargain basement prices. I researched the authors of my son's text books--PhD's in Education that are, coincidentally, on the payroll of the D.O.D.
And you should check into the members of your own school boards. Who are they and why are they in there? Whose interests do they really serve? I've discovered many things that get 'voted in'...well I couldn't find where it was put to vote or who voted it in, either.
The kids are bored out of their minds being force-fed distorted, political agenda saturated bunk and just plain wrong information that is so mind-numbing they seek mind altering substances for relief. The poor teachers are all but gagged and bound by silly regulations and powerless to actually teach. WHY on earth is the richest, most powerful country (or formerly so) 26th in the world in quality of education and graduate?
I don't blame these kids for rioting! Their parents ought to be standing behind them rioting as well--all of them throwing a walleyed fit all the way to D.C....
just my not-so-humble opinion

Its nice that they went and did that...
but after all of that...
did anything change? Or did they just move the board meeting to a different classroom while letting the kids "vent" in the other room, while under supervision by schoolguard security and local police - so it remains them just venting their anger and not destroying property?

Here's the thing: the positions were openly registered with those who would control them. Even if the local ptb went on trying to push their agenda--they darn sure had to be put on notice about being noticed. An impact was certainly made--and it will influence future choices all around. So, IMO, no demonstration-communication is futile.

This is excellent to see but sadly I think anything that was to be talked about and to be voted on is going to be done in secret like what seems to always happen when something like this happens. I'm sure I'm wrong tho but time will tell.
