Hello All,

Today, being May 8, 2011 and Mother's Day in America, I would like to wish all Avalonians, who are mothers, a happy Mother's day. It is not always easy being a mother to small children OR adult children! Thank you for all that you do for your family and for society.

I personally never understood my mother until I became a parent myself; and now I am in total awe of her!

Happy Mother's Day.

Sincerely,

Mr. Davis

Hello Everyone,

Hello Mr. Davis, pleased to make your acquaintance.

I'm having a hard time at the moment being a single parent (Mother). Usually my son goes to his Dad on weekends, but he wanted to spend the weekend with me, being Mother's Day and all. I feel so awful, because I really would have preferred to have the weekend on my own. I've spent the entire weekend swallowing my anger and putting up with stuff I am OK with during the working week.
Weekends are my sanctuary and refuge. I'm really feeling pissed off with myself and feel like the worst Mother on the planet, for feeling like I do.

Sorry. Pissed off with the whole world at the moment, lol, don't mind me, carry on....

Kind regards,
Lily

Hello Ms De Cuir,

Oh please don't be hard on yourself for feeling that way! Believe me, many a mother's have felt the same way at one tme or another.............. many times!
All MOTHERS need TIME TO THEMSELVES, on a consistant basis. so that they can recharge.
I am so happy you have managed to make time for yourself every week. You deserve time for yourself, and are probably a better person for it.

I am sorry you didn't get your needed santuary this weekend as that would have been the very best of a Mother's day gift that you needed this year. But thank you for swallowing your anger as your son, as you well know, wouldn't understand the complex feelings. One day when your son is grown, and can't be with you on Mother's day for whatever reason, you will laugh when you think back of how you had to swallow your anger this weekend becasue you needed time for yourself.

Happy Mother's day. Thanks for sharing what all parents feel at one time or another.

Sincerely,

Mr. Davis

PS Don't forget Father's Day is coming up soon. Maybe you can talk your son into spending a whole week with his Dad! :)

Dearest Lily, please, don't beat yourself up over how good or bad of a mother you are; what you can and can't do for your children, or even over how you feel about having to deal with your son during what has come to be your personal time. It's okay to admit your real feelings to yourself - if you don't, you will do yourself more harm than good, so I'm glad that you can let it out, even if it is here on an internet forum :)

That being said, your son loves you. That's obvious from the way that he opted to be with you for mother's day. I don't know how old he is, but it is just possible that he feels guilty over leaving you alone at all (going to his dad's). He may feel that you feel 'deserted' on the weekends when he is not there, like he's chosing his dad over you. Maybe (if he's old enough) you can talk to him sometime about how you feel about weekends (not emphasizing that you like getting away from him, but that you have lots of things that you can do on weekends that you can't do at other times etc.) you might be surprised at how this might relieve his own anxieties.

Namaste :)

Of all the occupations on this Earth, motherhood is often the most overlooked and undervalued. It is also the single most important job that any person on this planet holds. My hats off to all you mothers around the world. Your womb is the gateway between divinity and the human experience. You give birth to humanity. You nurture and shape all that we are. God bless you on your special day.

Hello Mr. Avaretard,

Presently with planting season, most of my free time is spent in the garden, which cuts into my internet time; so you probably won't see me posting too much until the heat of deep summer sets in. At that time, I will let nature do its thing, while I escape to my air conditioned office, allowing me to spend more time posting on Avalon. I am not planning on leaving the forum, I just have to divert my free time elsewhere for the next couple of months. Thank you for asking. I send good thoughts that you are enjoying this glorious day.

Sincerely,

Mr. Davis

Happy Mother's Day to everyone...

It is said that a mother's love is the closest thing to pure, spiritual love in this world...because in its ideal form, it is completely selfless, eternal, and well-wishing.

Now that we in 'developed countries' have largely abandoned any pretense at cultural inheritance the role of the conscious mother becomes more vital, more precious than ever before. Mothers are a psychological lifeline to defend our children from the violence inflicted by today's music, movies and video games. In our patriarchal, primogeniture warrior culture remember that our mothers handed down their spiritual essence when they carried us, and which they received from their mothers, and so on, a biological and spiritual connection back as far as your imagination allows. Now that is disciplinic succession.

Thank you, Mum.
