I'm not an engineer, just a mechanic but consider this and if anyone has contacts and/or thinks it could be possible, please pass it on.

It's simple, we need a giant cone. Small at the bottom and progressively wider as it goes up and secured from the top by cables to the ocean floor. A cone won't blow from pressure and won't get blocked by Methane Crystal. It could have a pouring lip or lips at the top and the oil will just flow over into waiting tankers.

We can build a Saturn 5 rocket, giant bridges and skyscrapers, it's possible we can do this. It might not even have to be super strong but that would be for the engineers.

Are we sure they really!! want to stop it?

That four story concrete box majorly cut the flow of oil, but was quickly removed because it had clogged. I believe that means they want to COLLECT the oil that is spilling, not stop it.

If the dome of concrete and steel froze up then why didn't they layer heat tape inside of the domes walls to keep it from freezing, all I can say is what a bunch of incompetent corporate guru's we have. Not to mention the u.s. govn't's non involvement, guess union deals, giving away more money and figuring out ways to sepnd more money are more important. Hey mr. govnt and BP corporates I have new news for you"ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING".
