Member's only threads on Avalon

May I ask why are certain threads on Avalon for members only and why can't guests read them?

I was talking to a non member friend about the thread "Is Monogamy Natural?" and they were unable to see it.

Is this normal? Are there other member only threads?

Yes, it is normal. There are section of the forum which is visible only to members. The reason is simple. With some topic, it is wiser to use discretion, not because the information is to hot to handle, but rather to verify if it is valuable, hoax or true, etc...
