it's a big washout. Happens all the time in Canada.

Firstly it's not a sinkhole. Do you not have eyes to see? There's being open-minded and there's letting your brains fall out. It's stuff like this that doesn't do anyone any favours. The person creating the video, the spin, is either mentally deranged or laughing their nads off.

This video shows a simple case of under engineering. IT'S RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF YOUR EYES. Instead of building an expensive bridge over a culvert stream they have built a railway embankment, more than likely with a concrete tube to carry the stream. With the winter thaw the water has caused soil erosion through the embankment ....leading to a land slide. Who doesn't agree?

If and I mean IF, the second video is related to the first, the army is prolly shovelling soil. Alarmist nonsense.

Yep, just a really poorly designed "bridge." Should have been at very least a headwall on either side of the culvert to absorb the hydraulic impacts. Either that or a much bigger concrete box culvert with lots of rebar.

okies... good, looks like this is nothing to be putting our energy into.

Thanks all for your input.

Well it is concerning from the perspective that had a train being going through there when it happened, esp if it was carrying toxic materials - there could have been a very unpleasant accident.

HEY!!! facial cream is a VERY serious concern . . . .. :p

but I agree with everyone . . . wash from poor construction and maybe a lot of rain.
