FYI:
An Alabama police officer allegedly hospitalized an elderly man who called 911 to report an accident across the street from his house while his wife watched the entire beating from her wheelchair.
The Courthouse News Service reported that 84-year-old Dorsey Henderson of Fairhope, Alabama called 911 after investigating the car accident and discovering that the driver of the vehicle was severely intoxicated.
Henderson told the driver of the car he was under citizens arrest and needed to wait near his car until police arrived.
When Officer Trent Scott arrived on the scene, Henderson attempted to inform him of the driver's belligerent behavior and that the driver had been placed under citizens arrest. The officer allegedly told Henderson there was "no such thing as citizen's arrest in Alabama," and to "get out of the way, old man."
After Henderson tried to explain that he was only trying to help, Officer Scott placed him in an arm bar and slammed him face first into the ground, breaking his nose and eyeglasses. Henderson's wife, Dorris, watched from a wheelchair at the front window of her house, telling a 911 dispatcher that the officer was "beating the hell out of my husband."
At no point did Scott place Henderson under arrest or charge him with any crime, but kept Henderson handcuffed in the backseat of his police cruiser. Raw Story

this really just pisses me off. i wonder how that cop would like it if somebody drug his mother out into the street and beat the hell out of her. i have no respect for this type of insane behavior. sadly, it will not stop here, it will continue on and you will see small children being beaten the same way. again, i can't stand this gvt., and all the minions that are produced from the top down. they can all kiss my ass. sick and tired of it. now i just need to come up with an idea that could throw sand in the eye of the almighty. "do unto others........"

And then the court in Indiana I think it was, says you can't resist the police if they illegally enter your house, you have a remedy in the courts.
What if the courts continue to ignore the law?
There is only one way to make these dirtbags respect the common man again and it isn't love and light, let me tell you.

So, who protects us when the cops act like bigger thugs than the thugs themselves...? I'm sad to say that it's happening more and more frequently. Will it come to the thugs actually protecting us from cops?

Is it another evidence of the dangerous brain washing and inhuman training these people receive? We are not talking about one or two incident of that kind, its by thousands and affect all countries. The training philosophy and mentality of security forces is drastically geared toward paranoia. We are not forming helping security force, we are training cruel, violent killing machines. Fortunately, many are strong enough to maintain their humanity and reasoning alive.

Could there be non sentient beings within the police force? How could a sentient being beat an elderly man? It goes against the mind. Sad indeed. Best Wishes

I can indeed, but there is a time to actually DO something when evil abounds too.
Some of us have the skills and intent to do it as well.
Love can be the motivation, not necessarily the action.

I always find myself agreeing with you on these issues Sid.
Must be the avatar ;)
This is probably one of the (under a handful) things that I disagree with a lot of people on.
In my opinion there is a time for fighting back.
Otherwise it just comes off as watered-down religious hypocrisy to me. (ie. "turn the other cheek")
And nothing good can come from remaining an obedient slave merrily accepting the lashes...

Nobody said you cannot defend yourself, which is what fighting back is. What's not on is attack.

When younger, I always tought I could not ever hurt someone, for any reason. I did slash some egos, but truly hurting people, not much, although I have quite a strong spine.
Well, one day, while working in Mexico, my life was suddenly, in my views - based on known reality - in danger. By the way, the danger was directly coming form disguised bad guys in police uniforms, or policeman themselves, I will never know. While at the same time I was trying to find all the psychological means in my power to divert the danger, I knew it may come to physical fight and that I would be the weakest. So, I did the talk, enlisting someone's help gently, without scaring him, while preparing a weapon and placing myself on a position to be able to use it.
On that day, I discovered that I could kill to protect myself, no single doubt about this. The whole mecanisme was instinctual. The other mechanism (psychology) was from training and intelligence mostly, correctly applied for survival.
I did not have to fight, psychology won, intelligence got me out of trouble.
So, saying one should not defent himself: let me laugh.;) It is self preservation, instinctual.
In all aspect of life, to defend when attacked, if the core being is menaced (which most of the time is not the case, most of the time attacks are only nagging for the ego), is a must, it is self consideration, self respect as well as self preservation. Nothing wrong with it.
In martial arts, you learn never to attack, to divert the attack instead, but if needed, yes to defend.
However, defending the ego, when hurt, at any price, this is not the right path. Just pampering it, seeing how it hurts and letting go is often, in this case, much more efficient and helpful.
imho of course

Too many people in authority abuse their position :(
Nothing more to say, but I hope the 'old man' is ok.

Exactly :first:
Defending oneself is a right.
Attacking others is not.
