Australian Federal Police could become carbon cops

The Australian Federal Police could be required to investigate new climate change offences under Julia Gillard’s carbon tax, sparking concerns over the agency’s resourcing.

As Julia Gillard today declared her carbon tax would be “shyster” proof, the Australian Federal Police Association warned the policy would have a dramatic impact on the force.

Department of Climate Change advice, obtained by The Australian Online, confirms provisions were made under the dumped carbon pollution reduction scheme to appoint AFP officers as climate inspectors.

Climate Change Minister Greg Combet’s office said enforcement arrangements under the proposed carbon tax were yet to be finalised.

But AFPA president Jim Torr said there was little doubt the AFP would be required to play a role in policing the scheme.

“Tax evasion is one of the big things the AFP works on,” he told The Australian Online.

The Fabian Socialist Labor Govt. is FINISHED in this Country and even if they bring the Carbon Tax in, it will going straight out the back-door when they get BOOTED out of office in 2013, that is to say, if their Coalition of Scumbags even last that long!

I noticed the other night the government was promoting a book report that highlighted how humans had significantly impacted on climate change and the extreme hot weather we had been having.

No mention of extreme cold weather like the other week when it was snowing and was the coldest May day in 50 something years.

I heard the Government meteorologist saying: "There is no disputing the evidence, the planet is heating up"
Yes, but the evidence that this is caused by Human activity is not empirically absolute, it is by no means known
demonstrated that Carbon Dioxide is responsible-the true Scientists are hushed up shamefully.

It's like walking into a restaurant and the waiter shouts at you: "Hey mate, you want Pizza OR Pasta, there's nothing else on the menu so don't bother looking alright"

Precisely...never seen a government of any persuasion throw out legislation that helps to fill the general revenue bucket. Unless of course they have found a way to generate that revenue stream in a manner unkown to the general public... in which case they publically hand it back then say since we've been so nice you won't mind us keeping a little bit of that back to help us help you in the area of (insert cause of the loudest lobby group here).

When the Water Melons (greens) run the senate come July this will be railroaded through in some form or another. In 2013 the umpire may well call half time, thus forcing teams to change sides and exchange jumpers. Then we will see team A-butt simply renege on rescinding the tax by claiming that due to the massive spending by team Juliar Oz inc. cannot afford to do so.

Either that or some intellectually challenged public servant will in the meantime sign us up to contracts that can't be challenegd due to sovereign risk issues (think Victorian de-sal plant). Come to think of it, that idiot Combet has already signed 10% of the income stream away to the UN at Cancun.

Checkmate yet again for the average mug punter. :p Machiavelli would be pleased...

When I hear the word 'government' I think of two things:

1/ Government = Guber mente = Control of the mind.... (ancient latin), I'm not sure if this is correct, but it certainly has a ring of truth about it.

2/ Theatre, yes it's all a performance for the benefit of the theatre owners..........please don't start to believe that it's for real.

Parliament = Parlé mente = talk to the mind......same caveat as 1/ above.

I'm a mine of useless information........;)

Does any of this ring a bell:
East Angela University
Emails
Coning the public into believing in global warning

Lord Christopher Monckton speaking out against the BS

And they still want us to believe in this BS

Sounds (or smells) like higher dimensional wisdom to me :yo:

Was going to make a crack about "emitted gas" in the OP but stood down (wind that is). :haha:

Not really, I don't trust Tony Abbott or any Monarchist for that matter...

Their are only a few Liberal politicians I trust, having sad that at least Abbott thinks Global Warming is Crap!

...and they tend to listen to their constituency more than the Fabian Socialists! I know that 1st hand by the way! If they didn't Malcolm Turnbull would still be opposition Leader..

As Andrew Bolt (much loved and much hated Australian journalist) often says, how much will it (carbon tax) cost and what benefits will it deliver?

Carbon is the basic building block of all life on this planet. It seems to me an insane idea to tax carbon.

I have no doubt that if the focus was on pollution in general rather than just carbon (primarily CO2 and methane), they would have the support of almost everyone and global warming/climate change, whether man-made or not, would not even enter the debate.

They only did that to suit their own agenda, not yours, not mine.
