Why didn't you send us a private message. Now the whole of Avalon would want to come to this meeting.
If only 6 - 12 (i'll be very surprised) turns up, I'll buy the tea and biscuits. However if more then it's on you..lol
Can't wait.

This is a bit of a worry. There is a mad backup plan....?
I kept telling 'em, I'm not an organiser!!

Still open to suggestions...................it'll be fun....?

I do have access to quite a large community hall in South East London. Could probably hold 400 of us. or Seat 200? But of course this would need more planning, organising.
And we may have to charge a small fee to cover the cost of the hall and the tea, biscuits.
Lets meet up in London and see if this can be done in the near future?.Maybe we could convince Bill to come along and do what he does best?

It'll be awesome! if there are many who subscribe to this idea would it be an idea to book a venue and 'chip in' - i don't fancy London prices for that though... Or then there is always the alternative back up plan... :)

People have been asked to put their names down. If there are too many, perhaps we should take up your idea.

Thanks

if its gonna get this big.
then maybe you should have a speaker.
too many people chatting in the same room with different topics..needs planning.

or a 30 second-a minute presentation of each person explaining who they are....and a guest speaker...

Tony. I think you're gonna need a very big tea pot. An extremely big one.. Just kidding..
No problems. Lets see how many names we get, Then we could put our heads together and work something out.

Lord Sid would be an excellent speaker. What do you think?

I remember seeing High Elms Manor (http://www.highelmsmanor.com/index.html) on Country House Rescue on television and thought this might make a good place to hold a conference near London due to the proximity of transport links and accommodation at reasonable pricing. The ideology of some of the owners is also sympathetic to the cause.

There is all so the British museum, as well as the parks
Regents Park cafe, Holland Park cafe, Hampstead Heath, there is a cafe under the bridge by the river Thames at Richmond
you can sit out side over looking the water. We could have a picnic in-the park.
Hiring venues I think its to much right now. In the future away days could be fun

I agree with Ria. A hall for 400 and a speaker et al aint my bag. I've done enough of those and no longer wish to bother. An informal get together, especially in a park (the Richmond cafe is funky n spacious!) if weather allows, seems a better plan. After all, as the OP stated - it's just to share face time (paraphrasing here). Why complicate it further.

Now then, who has the organising gene?

I suggested the 400 hundred in a hall only if this turns out to get really big. I do agree with you, Lets keep this light hearted, fun and just a meeting where we could put a face to the screen names..

Hi, Tony has messaged me that he doesn't want to organize. I've also got messages from my original UK Ground Crew meet-up post from members wanting just a simple members get-together.

So, shall we confirm Saturday 25 June at 11 am in London and talk about the location off the main forum on the UK Ground Crew site under new thread I'll start today. I agree that informal place - park/cafe type (with an eye to the weather) - sounds best, although we probably need to make this fairly central for those coming in from outside London. Input there from you all would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Pie
Since I'm here on the left coast of the USA, I won't be able to attend. Please appoint someone to report back all that happens at the meeting and be sure to take pictures!
