FYI:
Although we have long become accustomed to hearing that BBC is an impartial, unbiased and professional media outlet, we should honestly confess that what the managers and top executives of the state-run British Broadcasting Corporation claim is nothing but sheer lie and falsification.
Because, as the international community is gradually coming to realize, BBC is simply a mouthpiece for spreading biased falsehood and untruth.
Throughout the past decades, particularly following the establishment of the Israeli regime in 1948, BBC has made concerted efforts to function as a mouthpiece for Israel and the Zionism movement and this has tarnished the reputation of this so-called professional news agency to a great extent.
BBC has consistently boasted of being an objective and unbiased network and conventionally maneuvered on this claim at the times of popular anger and protest at its irresponsible and unjustifiable coverage of the world events and news. One easily reached example can be its coverage of the 2008-2009 Gaza War in which more than 1,400 civilians were brutally massacred by the Israel Defense Forces in the beleaguered coastal sliver.
As a state-run media outlet to which an enormous amount of annual budget is allocated by the UK government, BBC is naturally expected to be a messenger of truth and reality; however, it acts quite the opposite and spreads biased falsehood and fabrication simply to please the United States and Israel.
Reports indicate that BBC gets extraordinary financial assistance from the UK government. In the financial year 2009/10, BBC spent £199.3m only for its online service, showing a 12% increase compared to the previous year. Statistics reveal that BBC has the second largest budget of any UK broadcaster with an operating expenditure of £4.26 billion in 2009/10 compared to £5.9 billion for British Sky Broadcasting.
BBC, however, has faced a dramatic cut in its 2011 budget. The UK's Guardian has severely criticized the government's plan to reduce BBC's budget by £46m and called the BBC World Service the most effective instrument of human "capacity building" for the United Kingdom.
The newspaper has called into question David Cameron's decision to reduce BBC's budget and reported that the House of Common's foreign affairs committee is concerned about this decision. The very fact that the House of Common is anxious and apprehensive about the reduction of BBC World Service's budget show that they are clearly aware of the fact that this news network is their country's propaganda instrument and once this instrument is derailed and weakened their international influence, and their power to intervene in other countries' internal affairs will diminish dramatically.
But there's one important question: why is BBC a biased, prejudiced and unfair media outlet?
Why has the BBC which always sings its own praises about professionalism and impartiality, turned itself into a slavish lackey for Israel and the United States?
A primary answer to this question is figured out by Stephen Lendman. He has gathered invaluable information on the large-scale policies and strategies of BBC which are absolutely in line with the propagandistic policies of the Israeli regime. In a 2008 article on Global Research website, Lendman quoted "Robin Miller" who listed "The Media's Middle East Rules of Engagement" to which BBC's Israeli-Palestinian coverage adheres rigidly.
The first rule is to view the Middle East through Israeli eyes, "Palestinians are terrorists and aggressors; Israelis are victims who retaliate; self-defense is their motive; so is avoiding the truth."
Another rule is to ignore and veil the historical facts and figures regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, "Ignore the historical context;" avoid mentioning six decades of dispossession, occupation, and hundreds of preceding years during which Palestine was the Palestinian homeland; also suppress the idea that a Jewish homeland first originated with Zionism's late 19th century's founding and didn't exist prior to that."
According to Miller, the other rule is to suppress or minimize news which are unfavorable and unpleasant to the Israelis, "this rule is ironclad and unforgiving; open debate isn't tolerated; facts are suppressed; aggressors are called victims; self-defense is called terrorism; news is carefully "filtered," minds manipulated, and truth conspicuously absent; BBC excels at it and lets Israel get away with murder."
However, in addition to being extremely biased against the subjugated nation of Palestine, BBC is excessively biased against the whole Muslim world as well.
On March 16, the Islamophobia Watch published a report of a BBC TV program which was dedicated to UK's animosity with the Muslims. BBC's "The Big Questions" program was devoted to the issue that "Does Britain has a problem with Muslims?"
Islamophobia Watch noted that the very title of the program was suggestive of the fact that the BBC World Service as the mouthpiece of UK government has a radical problem with the Muslims around the world.
In one part of its report of the program, Islamophobia Watch alluded to a delicate issue and raised the question that is it ever possible for a BBC program to raise the question that "does the UK have a problem with Jews?" or "does Britain have a problem with the blacks?"
Host of the program Nicky Campbell set the tone with his opening remarks, "Osama bin Laden may be dead but his followers live on. On Friday the Pakistan Taliban killed 80 people in revenge for his death. Now Britain is a centre for the spread of Islamist ideology too, which not only poses a security risk but also inflames tensions between our communities. So our one big question this morning is: does Britain have a problem with Muslims?"
And such explicit verbal attacks against the Muslims can be prevalently found in different programs of BBC World Service or its website.
However, it's noteworthy that BBC is the only media outlet which is immune to UK's communication regulator Ofcom's rules and cannot be hold responsible for the contents which it broadcasts or publishes on its website.
BBC's prejudice and impartiality is almost known to everyone who looks for trustworthy and truthful news and analyses on the international events and searches for a reliable and steadfast media outlet. BBC has lost its reputation and is on the verge of a tragic collapse.
Perhaps the best short-term solution for Ofcom keeping under a lid the failures of BBC is to step up pressure on independent media such as Press TV, but they will soon realize that all of their efforts have been in vain, because that's the truth which will prevail at the end.
