FYI:

Britain and its allies should be ready to mount Libya-style interventions in other Arab countries, Tony Blair declares today.

The former Prime Minister, who committed British troops to military action in Afghanistan and Iraq, says that Europe and the United States must draw up a proper plan to support the so-called Arab Spring.

In a new introduction to the paperback version of his memoirs published today, Mr Blair says: “We need to have an active policy, be players and not spectators sitting in the sands, applauding or condemning as we watch. Like it or not, we have to participate.”

He argues that a Libya-style operation should take place only when regimes have “excluded a path to evolutionary change”. But he does raise the prospect of intervention in some circumstances in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran and Jordan.

Mr Blair admits that, because of what happened in Afghanistan and Iraq, some leaders will be advised to “stay out” of the Arab world and that interfering would make things worse. “I don’t notice much [public] appetite in the US or Europe,” he concedes.

But he insists: “The alternative view is that we have major interests engaged in the region. We have no real option but to be active.”

In the extracts released last night, Mr Blair makes no comment on his 2004 “deal in the desert” with Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, which helped turn the Libyan leader from an international pariah who exported terrorism to an ally of the West.

Defending the current action in Libya, Mr Blair says that if it had not happened, Gaddafi would have retaken the country and suppressed the revolt with “extraordinary vehemence” and many would have died.

“But the more far-reaching consequence is that within a period of months, we would have supported the removal of a key ally, President Mubarak of Egypt (and you can't rewrite history, he was our ally); and then stood by as Gaddafi (who despite his change on WMD and terrorism could not be considered in the same way) kept power. The damage to the West's reputation, credibility and stature would have been not just massive but potentially irreparable. That's what I mean by saying inaction is also a decision.”

The former Prime Minister says that “evolution is better than revolution” and where there is the possibility of evolutionary change, Britain should encourage and support it. “This is the case in the Gulf States. Instability there would be damaging not just to our interests but to those countries and their people. Many are already embarking on a path of steady change. We should help them keep to it and support it. None of this means we do not criticise strongly the use of violence against unarmed civilians. Or that if that violence continues, we do not reserve the right then to move to outright opposition to the status quo, as has happened in Libya.”

'A Journey' by Tony Blair is published in paperback with a new introduction, by Arrow Books, (£9.99). It is also available as an ebook

I disagree with Blair. We DON'T have to participate in any war.....I'm hoping that THAT old war cry dies a horrible death. I hope many more people wake up and tell Blair and Obama to bugger off. No more killing people...

I came to my senses about "fighting for God and country" a while ago; realizing that God would not ask any of us to kill anyone. I realized that NO ONE on this planet is my enemy, except those like Blair, Bush or Obama who sqawk about war being the only solution to global matters. These deceptive, so called leaders would have us believe the worst of other nations when it's outright false. They're NOT! We're seeing proof of this all the time. And yet there still are people being duped as they blindly trust them.... This is not to say that the duped are bad people. They just haven't got all the facts....
I say that if TPTB want war so badly, THEY should be the ones to fight. How quickly do you think they'd reconsider...? Because it would be THEIR blood spilling. Or if they want depopulation so badly, they should set the example and offer up themselves and their families....
And to think that these are the same people who claim they have superiority over us.....Even people like us, could come up with viable solutions than them...

Blair --- the puppet speaks...!!!!

Also these are not WARS ...they are business projects. If you go to WAR for real it is to defend YOUR home or property against someone who wants to take it from you. If you go to war you go to WIN at ALL costs... no budgets etc. Your people are behind the action as one of survival.

So in my humble opinion these so called wars on countries/ terror etc are just a cover for making money .... you can't sell arms unless the ones you have sold have been depleted ...
Makes me sick the whole industry and how it is so insidiousness .....

Tony Blair is a middleclass right wing zealot, who infitrated the Labour party in the 80/90's , he is imho a oppertunist helped on his way by the Murdoch press and the powerbrokers of the Bilderberge Group..... The conservatives who were totally unpoular with working class Britain had been in power for 18 years on the bounce , and the Labour party was still unelectible to the Elite/media because they still had to many grassroots mp's and union support...

But there needed to be a change because the Tories were becoming stale and riddled with scandal & corruption nothing new...Remember cash for questions ,ministers with prostitutes in chelsea soccer kits Jeffrey Archer/Jonathon Aitkin spending time in her majesties prison. Also to keep up the token appereance of democracy the parties needed to switch places......
So Blair was groomed as a right wing blue eyed boy to transform old Labour into New Labour...WOW and how we fell for it ,anything to get rid of the tories , just like Obama & Bush notice the similarity in the change of government especially in the anglo saxon world......

Anyway after a little honeymoon period , this blood thirsty warmonger has got us inconjunction with his opposites in the white House as TPTB have been seriously meddling with our polititions since the end of the cold war...We have been in none stop wars & conflicts from the Balkans in the 90's to Libya today........The military ind complex, NWO must have made Trillions of Dollars over that period , at the cost of millions of lives & it does not take a genius to work out who has been paying for this.....us the 'tax paying slaves' So Tony asking us to cough up more money and the blood of our servicemen does not surprise me one little bit...........Cheers Steve.....( I've got it about me Today )...LOL

Ps This is only my opinion...anyone with similar views may 'Honk there Horn'
