The ego. the ego is the voice of the body.

The body possesses no intellect. But it does have an interpretive system for this body, this avatar, for the spirit or dimensional being who occupies it and uses it. we call this formed construct..the ego.

It really begins to come on line as a forced situation, due to death fears and whatnot, at around the age of 5. When the body (avatar) realizes what time is and that death is the final end point..the egoic mind really begins to take shape. The occupying spirit, and the body..as a pair..they and their energetic join point might be said to create a reflection, a little bubbled echo in the flow of the system...and this might be termed as the ego. They say that intellect begins when the given being first comes to the realization that they are separate and on their own in this world. The act of self protection as an individual.

The ego serves as a voice type thing we hear, internally. the inner voice and the inner emotional shaping of thoughts and that voicing.

The thing to understand is that it is not limited to being the internal voice. It is also the internal emotions and the internal 'world shaping'. The entire lot. What we see as a chair, as a world, as a TV, as a car, etc. Ie, the family Dog sees the car totally differently than you do.

So all this reality interpretation function, all of it, is part of the ego edifice of the body.

This is important to understand, for what is coming next in this little bit.

Dreaming.

when you dream , you are out there in the astral realms, doing stuff. Some of this is carried back to the body. We are out there dreaming and doing stuff in this big rubber bumper box of the nearest astral realm. That weird place where dreams have darkness beyond their limits, as our capacity to expand our own reality is limited.

Visions.

Visions of things to come, prophecies, precognition, remote views that require interpretation, etc.

The important thing to remember is that the ego interprets all, for the body -so it can understand. Like the dog, you are, when out there in the astral realms in the world of precognition, visions and dreaming. The body creates the shapes and the entire flow. It is not the actual flow. You are like the dog with it's understanding of 'car', when it comes to what you are seeing.

More specifically WHAT the body tells you are seeing, as it puts shape on all it has reflected into it. In this case, by the occupying spirit that is out there doing stuff, while you are sleeping. The body tries to shape this into recognizable things and actions, so you, the spirit, when returning to the body, can understand what the heck was going on.

That is why we have books called '10,000 dream interpretations'. This is for the general aspect of thought forms that the general overall human mind/ego has as a list of reality function devices and items.

Invariably, the body injects it's fears into these complex situations, so the dreams can be complex terrible ones.

Please understand, that those complex and and 'difficult' dreams, is just the ego pissing down your back and forming it into the idea of 'rain' for your 'mind' to see and understand.

Mindful meditation can help ease the ego away... and then the dreams become much more true to the reality that they are ---and the dimensional reality they represent. From this, the mind may grow at a near exponential rate. Which is painful, as the ego created 'mind constructs' will have to fall away.

What the result will be... is a painful mix of chemical secretions in the body that break neural connections.. and the ecstasy of new ones being formed, with the chemical secretions for that aspect.

In my experience: Ego is a body self preservation program - operating system. The code depends on DNA of an individual. Thats why we are different, but not so different from our parents.

When the spirit occupies the body/vehicle has to deal with ego. Actually ego runs the vessel and spirit wants to do it too. So, we are in constant conflict with body ego (internal voice).

Dreaming mode is part of the body. When you dream things from last day, your spirit most probably remained attached to the body and perceived brain processing activities. This type of dream is very common and not very relaxing one.

You might have dreaming experiences with no relation to your body existence, but connected to someone else's experience (eg. living situations with more people). In this case your vessel joined common conciseness. Visions are part of it. You might say that body and ego feeds and perceives information from it. Like animals, plants, ...everything here on earth. All these are still part of matrix.

You might have slept out of your body. This experience is completely different from dream state and everything you have ever experienced (eg. like orgasm). You immediately feel the difference, there is no doubt about it. It is a complete detach from your vehicle, from matrix.
