When we were born into this world we should have been welcomed. For most of us (humanity) that was not the case. As we have fought our way through a world that seems hostile, uncaring, and unfeeling, we have learned to hide and keep ourselves hidden.
For those who have tried to shed light on the human condition, offer alternatives, and draw out the reality of the misery that has been unleashed on this planet, life has been very difficult.
Things don't happen in a vacuum. The world we have today is there because people imagined it, and then threw resources, energy, and support at the idea and exercised their will to manifest it.
For those of us who want an alternative, we have to do the same thing. I believe that our greatest resource, is to realize that we have the power to help each other.
Everyone needs help. Everyone. If we create conducive environments for creative expression, awakening, and loving action, then it will naturally manifest very easily.
So, as we ask ourselves what we are here to do, the complimentary question becomes, what do you need in order to be free to do that work?
I have sat with this question for a long, long time. As a result, I have come up with some basic categories I believe encompass the areas where people need support.
They are:
Emotional/Moral Support
Logistical Support
Healing
Mentoring/Education/Clarity
Protection
Money/Resources
Having people in our lives that can encourage us, and embrace our insecurities is vital. We all need cheerleaders.
No one can do everything alone. We need help manifesting things.
We've all been wounded and abused, and need a variety of healing modalities to strengthen ourselves.
Some of us may feel like we want to do something, but feel unclear, or scared, or just lacking the necessary skills.
I think it is well established that those who stand for an alternative to what we currently have make themselves vulnerable to attack. That's why I believe it is also important to learn to protect each other. The most powerful form of protection I know, is social inclusion.
There is no getting around it. In order to live, thrive, and do, we need money/energy/access to material resource. If it wasn't that way, our corporate counterparts wouldn't devote so much energy towards amassing it. It's something, I believe, we just have to accept and embrace. We should be doing our mission work and supporting ourselves on that work. That's how things will really change.
What I would like to see on this thread, is people beginning to share the areas where they need help. I know this can be a bit controversial, especially after just coming off of the situation with Charles and the 18, but I believe it is important to dig into these questions for the sake of progress and cohesion. It doesn't have to be about taking any kind of action. Just a survey of sorts, and further opening up. Opening up is the only way I know that people bond. When disasters strike, people instantly bond. There's no time to spend years and years talking idly and getting to know a person. the situation demands that people band together. Well, one could argue that we are in that situation. But, for the time being, many of us are not yet in disaster conditions. I suppose my desire is for the people of the world not to rely on disasters to utilize the opportunity we have to realize that we are on the same side, and therefore open up to each other.
It would be, I believe, very insightful to acquire an accurate understanding of what people are lacking in their lives that prevents them from fully actualizing their potential. Sooner or later we will have to face these issues if we want to develop a community. I, for one, do not like being a lone wolf.
We might as well do it sooner.
This exercise can serve several useful purposes.
One, it can give us a more accurate picture of where people are at.
Two, it can give people practice expressing their needs in a way that is honest, vulnerable, and heartfelt. Believe me, that is a skill. It doesn't just happen automatically. Learning how to communicate a need effectively is one of the most important social skills I know of. So, practicing effective communication.
Three, it will make people think and gain more clarity over their situation
Four, it will show us if there are patterns that can be observed. Recognizing patterns is instrumental in solving problems.
Five, it might show individuals that their experience isn't unique to them, and therefore they are not alone.
Six, it might further the sense of excitement and contribute to a generating of momentum towards something meaningful.
Seven, it might steer the focus away from reacting to the horror, and move us into focusing on what the creative solution can be.
Eight, it might help empower people
Nine, it might draw this community closer together.
I realize that I can't really control this thread, and I don't need to, but I think that it would be helpful or interesting if we utilized the above mentioned categories as guidelines for what we share. I do hope that people will be more specific than just posting a category, as I think detail helps shed light on the situation.
My intention is to track the information that presents itself, synthesize it, and feed it back to the forum on a separate thread so that we can have a birds eye view of what's going on. I also intend to do the same with the "Purpose" thread.
I realize that it's a bit weird, but I do believe it can be useful in moving us all towards our goal. Awakening and change.
In my opinion, the biggest mistake we make, is not to express and share ourselves with each other. I understand why we have gotten into this habit, but I don't see how it is feasible any longer. It really never was. We have to break this habit, and start opening up. Otherwise, we will never know each other. If we don't know each other, how can we connect?
Peace...
