Researchers from the University of Florida have investigated two types of bacteria, Escherichia coli
(E. coli) and Serratia liquefaciens (S. Liquefaciens), which is common on spacecraft, and can
survive the extremely harsh environment on Mars.
A test room simulated the conditions in March, allowing the bacteria to be tested. S.
Liquefaciens was very sensitive to drying out. E. Coli survived the experiment period !!!
