FYI:
Two law professors also appointed OBE
Former Lord Advocate Elish Angiolini QC has been made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours List published over the weekend.
Ms Angiolini, who left office after last month's Scottish Parliament elections, was the first solicitor (and the first woman) to be appointed to the office of Solicitor General (in 2001) and then Lord Advocate (in 2006), and the first person from within the ranks of the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service to hold these positions.
The award was made "for services to the administration of justice in Scotland".
She is joined in the honours list by Professor Noreen Burrows, Professor of European Law at the University of Glasgow, who receives an OBE for services to scholarship and human rights; and Professor Donald Nicolson, director of the student-run Strathclyde University Law Clinic, who receives an OBRE for services to the legal profession.
Also appointed OBE are Sheila Hindes, sheriffdom business manager of the Scottish Court Service for the Sheriffdom of South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway based at Airdrie; and David McKenna, chief executive of Victim Support Scotland.
