Thank you so much for posting this Viking, it was truly heartwarming to see this event unfolding in the way that it did :)

I loved the intensity in their eyes, clearly they have a very acute awareness of themselves, each other and their environment/surroundings. The eyes really do serve as windows into the soul.. fascinating!

I dare say we could probably learn a thing or two from these people (real wisdom I mean)... more than we could ever hope to impart onto them I'm sure. That said, it was interesting to see how impressed they were by our "technology"... I hope someone remembered to warn them where it has led us!?!?!?

Thanks for posting this Viking. I found it almost unbearably moving. This documentary was filmed in 1976 - one wonders how much the tribe benefited from the encounter and what they are like now. Particularly apt timing too as I read yesterday of another uncontacted tribe recently discovered found deep in the Amazon rain forest.

That is amazing Viking. Thanks!

I wonder what was the knocking on the head while they were eating rice? The children are starving. I wonder why? The adults looked fit and trim.

These natives were far more brave than what many here on earth will be when we meet our universal neighbors.

Great vid!

Thank you from the bottom of heart Viking, for sharing this video, it is profoundly powerful.

We have much to learn from it, and, yes...I agree, it is immensely relevant to our time.

Thanks Viking.. my eyes are filled with tears when i see this pure souls. But i cant help to think that there goes 1 more group off people off the right track, Fouled by the Tecknologi of the wite man, If they not die of the western worlds viruses and backteria first.

Sorry dont whant to bbbb a downer here. I have to remember that we all choosed to be here. And i personally think if we look back in history and see what happend to the other people we encountered like this. If there are still alive there are not many of them still here. The prime Directive as in Star Trek are not a bad one to use in a situations like this on.

Prime Directive: As the right of each sentient species to live in accordance with its normal cultural evolution is considered sacred, no Star Fleet personnel may interfere with the healthy development of alien life and culture. Such interference includes the introduction of superior knowledge, strength, or technology to a world whose society is incapable of handling such advantages wisely. Star Fleet personnel may not violate this Prime Directive, even to save their lives and/or their ship unless they are acting to right an earlier violation or an accidental contamination of said culture. This directive takes precedence over any and all other considerations, and carries with it the highest moral
obligation.

How will the majority react to our destined meet with our cosmic brothers...I'm sure we'll be ok...

...perhaps we can lesson the shock of many...

Really nice and interesting. We can feel the life force in them as well as the curiosity, intelligent search for better understanding. I have the same question as Snowbird, how come the children are starving and the adults in good shape?

Anyone knows what happened to this tribe?

one of the most touching videos i have EVER seen

makes you wonder after all these years what the EXACT story told about these big white people with advanced technology is, and where they think they may come from

This is powerful, poignant, and made my pulse race. I am always fascinated by the commonness between human cultures. Watching the men eat the rice and their faces lighting up the same as a child eating sweets for the first time, I think, proves that we are all the same people, regardless of our history.

Favorite part: When they tried to wipe the white off of his skin.

Worst part: Introducing matches.

Thank you so much. That was profoundly thrilling to me! I had to fight back tears. Can we possibly imagine what's going through their minds? And to think there are beings more distant from us as we are to these people. How would we react to the advanced technology of superior intellect?

That made me come close to tears, happy ones.

It reminded me a lot of growing up in Africa. As a white child walking through a village with other white grown ups I had similar encounters to this. Kids would flock me (I think the grown ups freaked them out) and overcoming their shyness, they'd try to touch my skin or my hair.

It used to freak me out at first because I didn't understand - but after I made it my mission to open up my arms to them and show that they were just other brothers and sisters... :)

Thanks, Viking. Nice video with an inspiring motif. It looks like Papua New Guinea to me...a small anecdote if I may..

in 1999 I happened to find myself staying with a tribe in the highlands of Papua New Guinea whose first contact was in 1942. However, in their case it was when Japanese soldiers stumbled on to their villages.. men were then used to help carry the heavy artillery guns the Japanese were lugging to the peak of a nearby range of mountains...after this the men were all executed so the guns" location could not be divulged. A very different experience of first contact,

However, they had never had a white man stay in their village before and just two members of their community could speak some english (from time in Port Moresby) and a few others pidgin which i had been myself learning.

they were extremely hospitable and friendly and thought of me as more important than was perhaps necessary..sitting me around a fire some nights and communicating the oral traditions about the time of giants and their battles against them. Here also I had the classic grey abduction experience. shrugs. I was warned not to just lie out staring at the stars as i did but i had never seen the milky way so clearly before and i had to.

not to discount the beauty of the video, my simple point is, like many things, first contact can swing both ways. peace

Absolutely 100% first class video. So touching. Thank you so much Viking.

On a slightly ascerbic note, I hope their relationship with the white man has a better outcome than other races, like the native American Indians to name just one.

Perhaps we may be experiencing this same awe and trepidation very soon with our brethren from the stars . . . . .

Several asked the question why the children seem to be starving while the adults especially the men seemed well fed.

Well, you are seeing a very pragmatic solution to an aspect of survival we will be facing very soon. I have run these survival scenarios through my head many many times.

These natives are feeding their men who can hunt and bring food and protection to the tribe FIRST. The men are and should receive the larger portions and best of the food. This is exactly my plan when faced with little food and possible starvation and dangerous environment. Feed first those who are strongest and more capable of taking care of the group.

Take note my friends . . . we maybe faced with making these same very difficult decisions very soon.
