FYI:

The US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has urged Democrats in Congress to support the continuation of American military involvement in the war on Libya.

She has met with Democrats behind closed doors to explain the purpose of the mission, a senior State Department official told ABC News.

US President Barack Obama has been under fire from both sides of the aisle for failing to seek congressional authorization before ordering airstrikes on Libya.

The administration says it did not need authorization, because the US military has not deployed any ground troops in Libya.

However, Republican House Speaker John Boehner and others congress people have challenged Obama's reasoning.

"The Obama Administration's claim that targeted bombings, missile strikes, and other military actions in Libya do not constitute hostilities under the War Powers Resolution is not credible," Boehner said.

"If the commander-in-chief believes that intervention in Libya is important for our national security, he has a responsibility to make a case for it -- clearly and publicly -- and seek authorization," he added.

NATO has conducted thousands of sorties over Libya since it assumed control of a military campaign to impose a no-fly zone over the country and save civilian lives in late March.

The US and NATO have unleashed a punishing, UN-mandated offensive against Libyan ruler Muammar Gaddafi to pressure him into giving up power.

They have been pummeling the regime's military installations, communication centers and armories.

However, airstrikes by the military alliance have killed scores of civilians as well as revolutionary fighters.

Some analysts say the main motive behind the Western attack on Libya is the vast oil reserves in the North African country.

Libya has been the scene of fierce fighting between pro-Gaddafi troops and anti-regime forces since mid-February. Revolutionary forces want an end to Gaddafi's decades-long rule.

Yeah right ... try filming a police officer in the US.
I saw a woman arrested for that recently ... the officer apparently saw that as hostile already.

How about asking for permission before spending other people's tax dollars and before starting killing civilians in the US population's name ?

Call me crazy but the hostilities over there are in NO WAY related to "maintaining a no fly zone". The US administration has openly stated
that they want a "regime change". I think such a statement on itself is a declaration of war if you ask me ...
