And so google begins it's surveillance mecca, facebook imitator. If one thought about this it could be predicted pretty easily. I bet yahoo launches one too. Too much profit in selling people's information and these grubby government accomplices will give the gov full interfaces to view all of it if what Julian Assange says is true.

Here is the page that is up that I found:

Google, which has been frustrated by a string of failed attempts to crack the social networking market, has introduced a full-fledged social network dubbed Google+. It is the company's biggest foray into social networking since co-founder Larry Page took over as chief executive in April.

Google+, now available for testing, is structured in remarkably similar fashion to Facebook, with profile pictures and newsfeeds forming a central core. However, a user's friends or contacts are grouped into very specific circles of their choosing, versus the common pool of friends typical on Facebook.

Edit: oops should have thought to search this topic first. Will do that now. Sorry :(

People can only handle one social 'base' at a time. To move from one to the other, it's like moving into a new residence. Google is not going to take users from facebook until there is a mass exodus of sorts (this will happen after facebook IPO in 2013?). Google has its own base, though it's more suited for the professional crowd. Also, they don't need to sell data, it's much more valuable to them to keep it to themselves. Yahoo, however will sell your data in a heartbeat.

A Big guy from Facebook was on the Bilderberg attendance list, can't remember if it was CEO or directer of some sorts, so facebook is already in over its head and being used as a control device.

I agree that google will not become anything like facebook, I guess they wanted another hook on there line.
