I don't understand...how accurate are these, how 'true'....It is all fascinating - but where have the pictures come from?
If NASA (I am sure other space group people as well) censers pretty much everything - how are these photos possible?

Apollo 17 was the final mission of the United States’ Apollo lunar landing program also, it was the sixth landing of humans on the Moon. The mission was launched on December 7, 1972, with a three-member crew consisting of Eugene Cernan, Ronald Evans and Harrison Schmitt. The Apollo 17 mission remains the most recent manned Moon landing.
While digging through some of the images made available to the public, we came across the image cataloged as AS17-135-20680HR (http://www.hq.nasa.gov/alsj/a17/AS17-135-20680HR.jpg#sthash.kVQvMBLz.dpuf). This strange image at first glance might not draw your attention, but upon closer examination you will notice a triangle shaped object hiding in the background, so the question comes up as to what could it be? Is it just a camera malfunction? Or is there something more to it.

No definitely not an anomaly on the surface. If it was an anomaly on the surface (like part of the topography), it would be clearly definable due to the absence of a lunar atmosphere, rather than through what appears to be a thick mist. It is more likely as seehas suggests something completely mundane, photographed while the lens was partially obscured.
