Iran is prepared to counter any threats posed by enemies against its territorial integrity, a senior Iranian parliamentarian says.
“Iran's armed forces will nip any threat in the bud in any area of the country,” said Seyyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini, a member of Iran's Majlis (parliament) Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, quoted by IRNA on Sunday.
The lawmaker pointed to the recent Great Prophet 6 military drills and reiterated that the maneuvers will not pose “a threat to any country.”
“Our neighbors and regional countries should be confident that the drills are for defending the region and the country and were held in line with the development of our defense technologies,” Hosseini said.
The lawmaker noted that the war games demonstrated Iran's capabilities in development and manufacture of new military technologies towards achieving its “defensive objectives.”
Iran unveiled underground missile silos, test fired Fateh (Conqueror)-110 missiles and launched 14 surface-to-surface missiles, including Zelzal (Temblor) and a range of Shahab missiles during the ten-day Great Prophet 6 military maneuvers.
