i love shirley maclaine. she has been an outspoken rep., for the alternative newsies for quite some time. i have never read her book(s) though. should probably take the time to do this. however, i certainly appreciate her candor in such discussions. thanks for the thread viking.

I remember reading some of Shirley MacLaine's autobiographies years ago - in fact she first introduced me to meditation in her book 'Don't Fall off the Mountain' where she describes her experiences travelling through the Himalayas. She spent the night in a monastery with a thin rug to cover her and was freezing cold. Next day she asked the monks how they managed to keep warm and they told her to meditate on the sun which the following night she did to great effect! She is very outspoken and one of those characters people tend to love or loathe. A rather mainstream friend of mine saw me reading one of her later books 'Saging while Aging' and immediately commented on her being 'wacky' and 'into UFO's'.

Ah hell, I love Shirley McClaine, and have read a couple of her books. Good stuff. It's just too bad that even with all that open mindedness she's still stuck in the false paradigm of left/right politics.

Fred

I have read some excerpts from one of her newer books, this woman is unplugged and definitely has woken up. Great Post Viking.
