Ten Years Ago Portugal Legalized All Drugs -- What Happened Next? (http://www.alternet.org/story/151635/ten_years_ago_portugal_legalized_all_drugs_--_what_happened_next/)

Following decriminalization, Portugal eventually found itself with the lowest rates of marijuana usage in people over 15 in the EU: about 10%. Compare this to the 40% of people over 12 who regularly smoke pot in the U.S., a country with some of the most punitive drugs laws in the developed world. Drug use of all kinds has declined in Portugal: Lifetime use among seventh to ninth graders fell from 14.01% to 10.6%. Lifetime heroin use among 16-18 year olds fell from 2.5% to 1.8%

Just shows how weird and guided the drug situation is globally ... this is EU Country and still we didnt hear anything in the news (why i even hope we will hear anything i dont know lol)

p.s. the article doesnt even count the reduction in crimes from addicts that couldnt affort the drugs ... now they might even come forward and try to get clean.

Yeah, we only hear about the fight against drugs!! Yeah right!! What you resist, persists. Legalize the whole lot and it pulls the rug from under the money men. The stupid users kill themselves off and the rest get wise.

They do that anyway :-(

The world is illogical and twisted ... i hope people see/realize it and decide whats best for them. Hope is all we are left with...

I like this as i used to see people Buying/selling and using drugs from my mother in law's house in Parede Portugal and wondered how dire it would get in the future with the constant drug use. Now this has reduced and my sister in law's 3 kids can have a safer walk down the road not having to look out for spent syringes. :)

It's time ...

Time to start a war on "War on ..." issues. Most, if not all, are artificial.

It looks like one of the reasons to start a war in Afghanistan was to get the poppy fields back in place. A positive side effect of
the Taliban was that they got rid of most of the drug trade from that country. Just an example.

good for Portugal, but many places around the world who say they have a "war" on drugs, actually intentionally import these things into their countries for whatever crazy control reason, and don't really want to get rid of it in their societies
