Back to the crusades. ;)

TAUNTON — A Massachusetts city has approved a proposal to build a "Global War on Terrorism" memorial to honor the newest generation of servicemen and women.

The Historic District Commission of Taunton gave approval to build the memorial on Church Green, a spot in the city’s historic district that also features the city’s Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The new 6-foot-tall black granite monument will feature the silhouette of a kneeling male soldier and standing female soldier honoring a fallen comrade in front of a battlefield cross.

It will also include two granite walkways, two benches and a series of flags representing the branches of military service.

Organizers plan to begin a fund-raising campaign to collect nearly $10,000 needed to build the monument.

Thanks Firstlook..That confused me Taunton is only 9 miles from here , until I realised you meant the US...Massachusetts must of had early somerset settlers ,as Bridgewater is also
a town over their as you know.Bridgwater somerset was a busy port back then, and there are a few towns around the world called Bridgewater, for some reason the original lost the 'e' in
the middle...Anyway the idea would have been better if it was not a false war..But most of the soldiers doing the dieing do not know that sadly...Cheers steve

yeah forgot to mention it was The U.S.

I live about 60 miles north of their. Its a nice city with good people, its just this continued ignoring of whats really going on in the middle east that sometimes makes me a little challenging. I always tell someone I meet who has been or is going over there to stay safe. I also try to get them to talk about the people over there and what they are like. Get them thinking about how those people feel about the situation.

Other then that People for the most part try to make the right choices. Most soldiers dont even go into the army looking to kill anyone, they really are just lapdogs and thats what makes it so sad. I dont get mad at people, just try to relate more accurate information.

Statues like these just remind me how good intentioned but emotional people are. My dad was in Vietnam and I lost a father so I can get emotional and reactive also.

anyways, thanks for replying. :)
