Greeting's my Friends

One hard lesson~ I've (always) had to remind myself of was not to get too caught up in relationships (friendships) so much so that i begin to lose myself in them~ Beware of letting your natural desires hinder your walk in love before your God self. One of the cruelest ways to kill natural love is through the rejection that results from having built the love on natural desires.

To not sacrifice yourself for a friendship doesn't mean you need to not be a good friend. A good friend will actually make a friendship be a give and take relationship. There is no need for one friend
to sacrifice themselves and the other friend to do all the taking.

One way for you to not sacrifice yourself for friendship is to learn to say no. Some friends will continually ask you for favors, help and all sorts of things. Having your friends asking doesn't mean that you have to say yes. There are times that you can say no and your friendship can still be intact. How to not sacrifice yourself for friendship is to know that you can say no and your friend can ask someone else for the favor.

Helping out a friend once in awhile is how to be a good friend. But if you are doing more for one friend that any other and yourself included, then you need to change things so you are not sacrificing your self for the friendship.

One way to let a friend know that you cannot do everything for them and always put them ahead of you and your family, if you have a family, is to talk to your friend. Some friends don't realize that they are asking you to help so much. These friends are most understanding and will change the demands they put on you. Your friendship can stay as wonderful as it has been and you do not have to sacrifice yourself.

If when you talk to your friends, they are put out and seem to give you a guilt trip, try to be understanding, but keep your stand strong. You need to know that you have worth as a person and you do not need to sacrifice yourself for your friendship. There are some people that will use you no matter who you are. Try to explain that you want to help them out when they really need you, but you do not need to pick up their dry cleaning or whatever.

You want to know how to not sacrifice yourself for friendship and keep the friendship happy and harmonious. One thing that you can do is to offer to do what you know you can do for your friend before your friend asks you. This way you get to help a friend in a way they need the help and you get to not sacrifice yourself for friendship.

The key here is to offer to help out before your friend asks you. Then when you are asked to help but have other pressing engagements, you can say no and not feel like you never give your friend the time your friendship needs. Your friend, if he or she is a true friend, will understand that you can't always be at their beck and call.

Also remember that if you feel that you are sacrificing yourself for your friendship, maybe you could ask your friend to help you out once in a while. If you are doing all the helping, yes you would feel like you sacrifice yourself for your friendship. Have your friend help you out with the things you may need help with.

Friendships are great and very rewarding. Friendships can even be more rewarding if you know how to not sacrifice yourself for the friendship. Begin by knowing your worth in the friendship, talk to your friend, learn to say no and ask your friend for some help once in a while.

Friendship is a great thing to have. Some friendships are not the easiest to have because you may feel you have to sacrifice yourself for the friendship. How to not sacrifice yourself for friendship will entail you to be strong and know your own worth as a person. Many friends will take advantage of your friendship causing you to sacrifice yourself.

As old relationships fade and new ones emerge (which have no resemblance or attraction to our old life), one might begin anew by allowing themselves to base new friendships (relationships) in a new way~ It is a life that is completely humble, pure in its intent, and firmly devoted to the good of all humans, but is also balanced in its self sacrifice~

Inside each bottle, a postcard asks the finder to record details of the discovery and promises a reward of a sixpence. Unfortunately for Leaper, the coin no longer exists.

Why internet friends are real friends…

'Have you noticed that with technology our friend circles have drastically increased ? And I’m not talking about Facebook friends who you never talk to (that’s a post for another day) but real friends that you can turn to without question or have you spitting out your drink with laughter ? No ? Then maybe you need to get online more because the people I’m talking about are ‘internet friends’.

Well, YOU might call them internet friends since most of them I haven’t met but for me, they’re real friends whether we talk online or in person (or a mix of both if we connect on Skype). I name-drop them in conversations with other friends, we have in-jokes, we share advice or a listening ear when we need to; they are no different to the friends I have made at home, there’s just a little physical distance between us.

The problem with my ‘internet friendships’ comes when I have to explain them to ‘real’ friends and family. ‘But how can they be your friend if you’ve never met them ?’ ‘What do you really have to talk about’ ? The list is endless and you know what, a few years ago I would have understood the questions. I was lucky enough to grow up with a computer in my house meaning that I was one of the first people I knew to get the internet when it became readily available. This then meant that I was in chat-rooms aged 13 making friends; such good friends that they (and their parents) traveled for miles so that we could meet each other. Even family members thought I was a freak for ‘believing’ that anyone on the internet could be a) real b) a true friend c) free of serial killer tendencies.

Times have changed and technology has become a daily part of our lives without us even realizing and yet people still question how a friend online can be called a friend at all. It’s called conversation and effort.

I’ve met so many people through Twitter which has lead to meeting them in ‘real life’ as well. When I go to London, as much as I detest the city with a passion, it’s full of people that I love. At the end of last year after a visit to the city, I spoke to one of my ‘internet friends’ and said that seeing her had reminded me how much I missed her. Her reply explains it all:

“I forget that my internet friends are just as real and important to me as the friends I grew up with (if not more important sometimes!)”. Never a truer word has been spoken.

Over the past year, as I often wasn’t well enough to even leave the house, my ‘internet’ friends became one of the most important things I had and without them and the technology to be in touch with my best friend at home all the time, I would have struggled to keep my head above water. They became my lifeline. My joke-tellers. My voice of reason. The people I turned to when I had no-one else. You can’t let me tell you that and question whether or not they are true friends.

I may never meet some of my friends but doesn’t mean I don’t carry them around with me in conversations or in technology that’s sat in my bag. My ‘physical’ friends were great, truly, but my internet friends became more important in some respects; possibly because of our shared love of travel. Many of us share the same dream of being able to ‘live the life’ and travel for as long as we can and they also know what it takes to do that; things that my ‘real ‘friends didn’t know which meant that when I struggled to see what I needed to do to help myself; they were there with suggestions and advice. That doesn’t meant that my ‘real’ friends were any less important to me as a whole but we all become more and less useful to each other at certain points in friendships.

We all seek different things from friendships at different times according to how we’re feeling or what our situations are but realizing that our friends are not defined by ‘real’ or ‘internet’ is the key to appreciating all the friendships that we are lucky enough to be part of. It doesn’t matter if you’re the other side of the world or just up the road; I’m still your friend.

So how about we stop calling each other ‘real’ or ‘internet’ friends and just accept that friendships come from all over the place and include a huge variety of people.' :)

Fann prefers to use Eucalyptus branches because they are strong, flexible and last longer than other branches. He harvests them by cutting them off healthy trees, careful not to cause any damage. Then, using a machete, Fann strips the leaves off the branches and scatters them to avoid creating any kind of fire hazard. These branches are collected over a period of 3-4 days with helpers, and then piled into a trailer that hauls them to the site.
Creating a flowing organic form that is also structurally sound is one of the main challenges Fann faces when converting the branches into a human nest. He does this by bending the wood and using counter sunk screws, which are so hard to see that they don’t detract from the nests’ natural feel at all. Fann then builds a separate base that can withstand 2,000 pounds of wet wood and bodies! These are then lifted either by forklift or crane and then knitted together, after which Fann renders the interior comfortable with a woven mat and builds an access ladder.

I know just what you mean, Gio.
Some of the connections I have made online, particularly on Avalon, have transcended mundane friendship and entered into realms of spiritual, telepathic and astral connection.
I have had those kinds of experiences with non-internet friends too, and though such connections are always very special, the medium of the internet adds something very unique.
I have to tear myself away from my computer sometimes because of a need to cultivate local relationships for sheer survival purposes, but more and more, I feel like cyberspace is familiar ground, and just as real to me as any other space.
It's said that when we pass over, the "other side" feels like our real home, and material existence seems like a dream.
I can't help but wonder if, when internet friends meet on the other side, how those relationships might differ from non-internet relationships.
I think that, even though I may not know what all my internet friends look like physically, when meeting them there, I would recognize them merely by their energy signatures.

Take a new route home. Go to a dance class instead of a yoga class. Try a new restaurant. Get out of your routine. Take a trip to a new place. Make a new friend. Learn more about being “random” and living parts of your day without a plan.

3. Make a conscious choice to be a vessel of random acts of love.

The same way you intend to become a doctor before you become one, begin the day by intending to become an active vessel for love before you do it. The choice alone is a powerful one.

If you say you intend this before you do your weekend errands, they’ll still get done, but along the way you’ll be open to magic happening. Your mission to get an errand done will be secondary to your presence while interacting with others and tapping into your intuition.

It could be offering an extra hand to somebody, giving a parking space away, or simply offering a smile to a stranger.

4. Before you act, discern between your ego gratification and love.

Often times our intent to help someone else stems from ego. We may think we know best, or that we have the answer to our friend’s problem. But, all too often, this is just our ego wanting to be gratified for having the answer or making us feel good because we’re right or in control.

You’ll know when you’re coming from a selfless sense of love when you have no attachment to the other person’s response. If you think “If I give him this, he will give me that,” that’s your clue that it’s your ego disguised as a giver. When you can give without expectation in return you will know you are giving from true love.

5. Learn to listen for guidance.

Pure love is energy, not a specific action; therefore, loving acts come from being present to the love inside yourself in the moment. Sometimes loving acts are actual actions you’re guided to take. Other times it is an invisible energy you project out. It is ever changing.

Be present to your inner guidance. Perhaps you’re guided to bake cookies for the service attendant who pumps your gas every week, or offer a kind word to somebody who looks sad or lonely. Maybe you will make a surprise meal for your significant other or give a new outfit to your best friend.

The gift is in the giving and the magic is in the unknowing of what it is. If you are ever feeling stumped ask yourself this: what one thing could I say, do or be to let the one before me know they are loved, important, and seen? When the answer pops into your mind, follow it!"

How to Work with Multiple Timelines, Dimensions, Challenges

Have you ever experienced something in the past – this life or another one – bleeding into your present?

This kind of timeline interaction has always occurred, yet now in the more quantum energies, people like you with expanded awareness are beginning to have more tangible knowing of these things.

Meeting Someone Very Familiar

Most likely, for example, these days you can sense possible past life connections when first meeting someone who seems very familiar. The person you meet may be brand new in a linear way, yet your comfort or discomfort when first seeing him or her is sourced from the quantum realms.

You can’t know for sure, of course, but you can sense that you and this person know each other across time. Something about them seems familiar – it could be the eyes, a gesture, the way they talk, or the way they hold their body. As you connect with that knowing and inquire within for a deeper understanding, you may receive intuitive flashes of insight about past life connections.

This sort of time bridge can be experienced with people you are getting to know personally or professionally – it can even happen with strangers you don’t expect to see again.

Understanding Multiple Timelines, Dimensions

You live in a quantum reality in which past, present, future, and parallel energies can impact your present. As you grow spiritually, you become even more aware of this and you seek ways to understand and appropriately respond in these situations.

Understanding is the first step. This includes a conscious recognition that much of what you see in the world – including faces of “new” people – is not exactly as it appears. Common Misinterpretations

There are some common misinterpretations people make when sensing a comfort or discomfort with someone new.

Here are a few examples of what you might say to yourself in these moments:

I must have met my soulmate.
I don’t like this person – he or she must be mean.
This person is attractive to me – we may have good chemistry for exploring a love relationship.
I don’t want this person I just met involved with my work project – I just don’t trust him or her.

If you find yourself responding to a new person with these thoughts, consider expanding your view to include the quantum.

Examples:

Feeling you may have met your soulmate? Inquire within about why you feel this, and how past lives or other factors could be influencing your feeling.
Question why you are feeling an automatic dislike for someone new. The response could come from a host of things, including past lives and even visual reminders of other people you’ve experienced as mean.
When you feel attraction to a new person, step outside the feeling long enough to question what’s at the root of this feeling. Attraction, and even great chemistry, is no guarantee of a successful love relationship in the present. Find out how much of the attraction is present-time oriented and ask your higher wisdom to show you how to respond appropriately.
It’s understandable that you would want to avoid bringing a new person you distrust into your work project. Consider though, before acting on the feeling, where your feeling is coming from. If it’s a past life bleeding into the present, and you address that life energetically at a DNA level, the issue you thought you had disappears into the clear light. Then you are free to choose in a brand-new way!

When Friendships Turn Rocky

These types of examples can also apply when you are in a harmonious longtime friendship that all of a sudden starts to go sour.

You may not know why, but increasingly over time you can feel distanced from your friend. It may feel odd to you, but the comfort you always had shifts into a scenario wherein some days you like the person and other days you hate them.

When this happens, it’s common to assign meanings to the disharmony without a full understanding of the quantum factors. From a higher spiritual perspective, sourced from the quantum, you are wise to explore deeper reasons that include past lives. As you look truthfully at what is there – without judgment or expectations – and address past life disharmonies at a DNA level, your rocky friendship can be repaired. With things then brought up to date, your friendship will be richer and more satisfying and you will have grown spiritually in the process.

Being in the Present

Remember that in the quantum world – with so many timelines intersecting with the present – the most important thing is what you do in the present. It is your present reality, after all, that you are alive now to live. Only by operating in present time can you access your true power to create and fulfill your purpose.

As a divine changemaker your role is to master becoming whole, conscious, and present focused – being as loving and kind as you can be.

Riding the Wave When Things Get Choppy

What happens, though, when other people around you aren’t so loving or kind? What do you do when things get choppy?

Part of your mastery in this next cycle of energy is learning to ride the wave of change with conscious awareness – being kind and loving even if others aren’t.

Have you noticed people acting more strangely recently, perhaps saying or doing things out of character? Perhaps you feel you’ve had your own unusual moments, too, wondering how you could have said or done what you did.

It’s helpful in one of these challenging cycles to step back and get the bigger picture. To be sure, for example, there are things you would normally be sensitive about and perhaps annoyed by as you interact with other people.

In 2013-2014 there are extremely challenging planetary aspects that could trigger explosive reactions in even the most serene of people. When these challenging energies are present, sudden explosive reactions can be catalyzed within relationships. This includes people you are close to, neighbors, and even strangers.

Because of the suddenness of these energies, too, you may be caught by surprise. If you don’t remain connected to your heart when these things happen – reacting rather than first checking in with your inner wisdom – you could set in motion a negative chain of events for repair later.

Good News

The good news is that in these situations, even with a breakdown, you could have a breakthrough by getting into your heart and seeking your inner wisdom. As you get into your heart, you could find your compassion for self and others increasing by leaps and bounds. Your spiritual growth, therefore, benefits, as do your next interactions with everyone you meet – including people recently triggering discord within you.

Do what you can to come from your heart – remembering that your heart is the key to having harmony with others. You cannot be in your heart when you are overthinking, worrying, or obsessing about how others wronged you. Do your best to move out of those conditioned states and find the sacred space within your heart. It will lead you where you want, and need, to go.

Relationship Repairs

If you sense that you have relationship repairs to attend to because of challenging planetary energies, first connect with spirit and ask to move into more self-love, more self-compassion. You will need to have those qualities in place to remedy discord co-created this month.

Co-creation is the key here. Remember that you and others co-create situations together. There are no victims and there is no one to blame. Remember the love.

Did you recently say something to someone in anger, then wonder if you could have chosen different, less hurtful words? While words cannot be retracted, you can shift the outcome of words by what you say and do next.

Prickly, untouchable things and situations can become smooth and touchable when love is applied.

Blindsided by a Mind Field

Ever feel like you were blindsided by the mind field of another person, projecting something having nothing to do with you? It takes skillful means to relate to others projecting their unfinished business. As a divine changemaker, though, you can develop this skill and find compassion in your heart.

If you realize that you were the one doing the projecting – your own past painful hurts impacting how you felt and acted in the present, here’s a solution. Realize that you indeed have unfinished business – don’t judge yourself but be willing to look at it. Next time you find your old unfinished business surfacing in a current-time situation, do your best to come back to present time. Let go of what happened before – it’s not “now.” Don’t let negative emotions surfacing in the moment allow you to forget the higher reason of why are you are doing something, or being with someone.

Feel you sabotaged something, shooting yourself in the foot without meaning to? Don’t waste precious time worrying or reprimanding yourself – take a positive, more enlightened action now.

Two People and the Bridge

Two people having a quarrel, standing on opposite sides of a bridge, must find a way to step onto the bridge to begin resolution.
On the bridge together there then must be honest and loving communication, forgiveness, ability to admit mistakes, and each person skilled enough to meet the other person more than half way.
A divine changemaker learns to rise above ego-wants and hurts, intuitively finding a way to make amends and peace. Even fog on the bridge is no true deterrent for the person applying love.

Moving Forward with Consciousness and Heart

If you’ve had a relationship challenge recently, ask yourself how much of your current suffering has roots in the past, coloring what you are experiencing in the present. As you attend to letting the past go and finally healing it on a DNA level, you become free to enjoy the present and to see things more clearly.

The Definition of Home

"Be it ever so humble, it's more than just a place. It’s also an idea—one where the heart is ...

When did “home” become embedded in human consciousness? Is our sense of home instinctive? Are we denning animals or nest builders, or are we, at root, nomadic? For much of the earliest history of our species, home may have been nothing more than a small fire and the light it cast on a few familiar faces, surrounded perhaps by the ancient city-mounds of termites. But whatever else home is—and however it entered our consciousness—it’s a way of organizing space in our minds. Home is home, and everything else is not-home. That’s the way the world is constructed.

Not that you can’t feel “at home” in other places. But there’s a big psychological difference between feeling at home and being home. Feeling at home on the Tiwi Islands or in Bangalore or Vancouver (if you are not native) is simply a way of saying that the not-home-ness of those places has diminished since you first arrived. Some people, as they move through their lives, rediscover home again and again. Some people never find another after once leaving home. And, of course, some people never leave the one home they’ve always known. In America, we don’t know quite what to say about those people.

Homesick children know how sharp the boundary between home and not-home can be because they suffer from the difference, as if it were a psychological thermocline. I know because I was one of them. I felt a deep kinship almost everywhere in the small Iowa town I grew up in. But spending the night away from home, at a sleepover with friends, made every street, every house seem alien. And yet there was no rejoicing when I got back home in the morning. Home was as usual. That was the point—home is a place so profoundly familiar you don’t even have to notice it. It’s everywhere else that takes noticing.

In humans, the idea of home almost completely displaces the idea of habitat. It’s easy to grasp the fact that a vireo’s nest is not the same as her habitat and that her habitat is her true home. The nest is a temporary annual site for breeding, useful only as long as there are young to raise. But we are such generalists—able to live in so many places—that “habitat,” when applied to humans, is nearly always a metaphor. To say, “My home is my habitat” is true and untrue at the same time.

Yet our psychological habitat is shaped by what you might call the magnetic property of home, the way it aligns everything around us. Perhaps you remember a moment, coming home from a trip, when the house you call home looked, for a moment, like just another house on a street full of houses. For a fraction of a second, you could see your home as a stranger might see it. But then the illusion faded and your house became home again. That, I think, is one of the most basic meanings of home—a place we can never see with a stranger’s eyes for more than a moment.

And there’s something more. When my father died, my brothers and sisters and I went back to his house, where he’d lived alone. It wasn’t only his absence we felt. It was as though something had vanished from every object in the house. They had, in fact, become merely objects. The person whose heart and mind could bind them into a single thing—a home—had gone."

From ~ Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics

"Aristotle wrote on a vast amount of subjects during his lifetime, such as biology, chemistry, physics, ethics and logic. In one of his most popular works, Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle discusses a variety of these subjects in order to find virtue and moral character. One of the virtues which Aristotle examines quite extensively is friendship. Aristotle believes that there are three different kinds of friendship; that of utility, friendship of pleasure, and virtuous friendship. Aristotle argues that friendship should be so highly valued because it is complete virtue and he explains that it is above both honour and justice. Aristotle’s theories regarding friendship break down into self-love, of which self-love of utility and self-love of pleasure become selfishness, while self-love of virtue is the highest good a person can achieve. Due to these three different kinds of love, human beings are shown to be quite political in nature. This is especially shown in the first two; love of utility and love of pleasure as Aristotle argues that humans set up relationships for each owns personal gain. In Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle argues that virtuous friendship is one of the most glorious attainments one can achieve.

Aristotle describes a friendship of utility as shallow, “easily dissolved” or for the old. He views them as such because this type of friendship is easily broken and based on something that is brought to the relationship by the other person. Aristotle uses the example of trade and argues that friendships of utility are often between opposite people, in order to maximize this trade. A more realistic name for this type of friendship would be an acquaintance and could be described as the relationship between a person and their mailman. They greet each other, discuss the weather and other such petty talk, but when it comes down to it, there is no real relationship present. Aristotle believed that this is exactly why this type of friendship is for the old; Aristotle argued that they “...are at such a time of life pursue not what is pleasant but what is beneficial.” Aristotle also believed that the young would pursue this type of friendship as they seek that which is advantageous to them and would not live with someone they are in this friendship with. This type of friendship is broken when, no matter how small, some part of the relationship changes and it is no longer beneficial to one or both of the individuals in the friendship. For example, say a person visits the same barber shop every month. However, a new barber shop has opened up and provides better service for a cheaper price. The friendship built between the barber and person getting their haircut will likely dissolve, as it is cheaper to use the services of the cheaper barber. Because of this, the friendship of utility has very weak bonds between the individuals in the relationship and in this aspect; it is quite similar to the friendship of pleasure.

Aristotle goes on to describe what he terms as the friendship of pleasure. This type of friendship is normally built between the young as passions and pleasures are great influences in their lives. This type of relationship is characterized by such feelings as passion between lovers, or the feeling of belonging among a likeminded group of friends. It differs from the friendship of utility in that those who seek utility friendships are looking for a business deal or a long term benefit, whereas the friendship of pleasure Aristotle describes is where one seeks something which is pleasant to them presently. This sort of relationship is built on passion, which among the youth, is constantly changing. Like the friendship of utility, Aristotle views this type of relationship as fleeting and target of constant change. This is precisely why Aristotle argues that the young “...quickly become friends and quickly stop...” and “...love and stop loving quickly...”[5] Therefore, Aristotle views both friendship of utility and pleasure as unstable and constantly subject to abrupt change, which in fact dissolves the friendship, however; Aristotle moves on and begins discussing the truest form of friendship: that of virtue.

The highest form of friendship, Aristotle argues, is the friendship of virtue. This type of friendship is based on a person wishing the best for their friends regardless of utility or pleasure. Aristotle calls it a “...complete sort of friendship between people who are good and alike in virtue... This type of friendship is long lasting and tough to obtain because these types of people are hard to come by and it takes a lot of work to have a complete virtuous friendship. Aristotle notes that there can not be a large amount of friends in a virtuous friendship because the amount of time and care that a virtuous friendship needs limits the amount of time one can spend with other friends. Aristotle argues that there are similarities between friendship of virtue and that of utility and pleasure, however; it is only the good that can endure in such a friendship. As Aristotle puts it, “it is clear that only the good can be friends for themselves, since the bad do not enjoy their own kind unless some benefit comes from them. Friendship of virtue is only felt among the good, between few amounts of people, is resistant to slander and is long lasting."

There are some who question why Aristotle has such a high view of friendship. Aristotle values friendship so highly that he argues friendship supersedes justice. Aristotle believes that no one would choose to live without friends. Friendship, he argues, is necessary for life because no one would want to live without friends. He points to the fact that those who are rulers and have a great deal of power have a great need for friends. Aristotle views friendship as beautiful and the glue that holds cities (society) even forums together.

i have learned from the last five years here friends come and go and love is eternal, but ones own ethics is key in finding true purposeful happiness ...

Thank you for that post, giovonni. It's true that we can't have a friendship of virtue with everyone! But we can feel blessed for having a few of them in our lives.

It's ok to "lose" those temporary admirers and associates...the ones where, when you don't seem "cool" anymore, they will not associate with you...I would rather be true to myself than keep those temporary admirers...we can be true to ourselves and have true friends...(and people who do not like us).

In our naivety, we can think that we could be friends with more people, for peace and love...and heart idealism...but that made us open up to things that were also not true/good...lessons learned for me, too <3

i have come to realize and understand that there is a most inherent difference when it comes to feeling loneliness from a feminine point of being. Women for the greater part are the true nurturer's of our humankind. So when this anguish might occur(i understand) it can be gut wrenching and truly heart felt. As a male transiting into his golden age, i still am grateful in that i (we) hail from a generation that grew up without communication devices.
