I don't understand where all the money came from. Who had the trillions of dollars to lend to them in the first place and how did they generate it? What would happen if they defaulted? America has an Army so I can't see debt collectors being much of a problem. The whole thing just does not make sense to me.

If you want to figure out where the money comes from, google ''fractional reserve banking'' and you will see it is all a scam.
And as for their armed forces, yeah, they have them now, but what about later when they can't pay em?

Fractional Reserve is one of those things that sounds like it makes sense as a theory, ie, not everyone is going to take their money out at once so why not let others use it, but in reality it's stupid. Why can't the people in debt just say "No, it's not real?".
The people who made up all the fake money and have everyone in their pocket must have something else on their side because I just can't understand why a country wouldn't just say, "Piss off" and start their own currency.

Who are the people who own the debt?

Those who ''own'' the ''debt'' are those who depose kings and organise regime changes.
You could tell them to piss off, but you would end up eating dirt.
I have been in court and seen people say the debt they are accused of having is fraudulent, the judge doesn't want to know.
They have the force to back up their paper.

It does not need to change on paper.... if you were the lender what would your reaction be to the last few days games... I would gently start reducing my exposure to the US markets trying not to start a run because I would lose my money.... I suggest you watch the currency markets and some of the major players....

The problem they have though is what to buy not what to sell.....

Hey, alright, getting down to nuts and bolts here. Dangerous questions like that Anno will never see the light of day in the mainstream propaganda machine, same as unanswerable questions about 9/11. I like how David Icke puts it, if the official story of 9/11 goes, the whole scam goes. Same with your currency question. The treasonous blood suckers who have infiltrated the levers of control on this planet will scream bloody murder that to even ask these kinds of questions is treasonous and insane.

They can run but they can't hide, truth is rising from every crack and crevice.

Our entire monetary system, financial system is corrupt. Until we correct the cause of this madness...we have little hope of recovery...as manufacturing figures are the lowest in two years (today's news), what we've done so far has only made it worse.

Based on this article, we will still see a downgrade. Moody's said they would need to see $4 Trillion in real cuts, we are not even getting close to that from what I have read.

It's business as usual. Our government "leaders" pat each other on the back behind the "transparent" closed doors and have a good laugh at how easily deceived and led the majority of the American people are. So while the idiots are still arguing it's the Democrat's fault, no, it's the Republican's fault, no it's Obama's fault, no, it's Bush's fault, and on and on, the PTB with the help of their government and media shills continue to suck every last nickel and freedom out of the masses while they continue the unabated destruction of this country.

Calz - you are so correct and humorous too! While the debt goes to the moon, the dollar plummets to Hades. I've been warning people to move their dollars into precious metals. Like Viking showed with the image of the printing press, we're printing (monetizing) our way out of debt. The wealth of the middle class is being destroyed.

Spot on. You took the words right out of my mouth.

If you create currency backed with nothing it doesn't matter how much debt we are in. Tptb needed a good story for the masses to keep people occupied, and it works like a charm every time. The Casey Anthony story was getting old. Nobody is talking about it in the office anymore, and here we go.

Ponzi schemes *have* to collapse at some point. There is no getting around it.

Okay ... let us play with this latest illusion for just a bit.

2 trillion saved over the next 10 years (I have ignored the details as much as possible but that is what I heard on the news while driving).

Alright that sounds ... big.

16 trillion dollars (depending on who's figures you believe ... perhaps 24 trillion) went to the banksters in their cute little bailout heist. At least 80 years just to recoup that (assuming no interest ... hey why don't WE THE PEOPLE charge the banksters interest???). But I digress.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Okay ... baby boomers are retiring (lots and lots of them) ... or at least their hope was to retire.

Economy in the crapper ... no new jobs unless you have a passion for flippin burgers. Where is all the new tax money coming in for social security going to come from???

Anyway ... just a simple very simple look at how rediculous the situation has gotten.

Granted ... if the whole world shut down the war machine, big pharma, big food etc ... and used those savings to utilize free energy, real healing methods and healthy food with emphasis on local community then there could be some real progress. Feds should contain themselves to posing for pictures (that no one will see) and giving speeches (that no one will be in attendance to listen to).

Anyways, what's everyone's thought on this? good, bad or dont care?

Wouldn't normally care...

They've raised the debt ceiling many times in the past with no 'fear factor'. Its normal. I believe the last time fear was used in raising the debt ceiling was with Newt Gingrich.

This is what they gave us:

1. An initial cut of $1 trillion from the federal budget.

2. The creation of what Obama has named the Supercongress, a 12 person body composed of 6 Democrats and 6 Republicans who are tasked to come up with an additional $1.5 trillion in cuts by November 23rd of this year.

3. The recommendations made by the Supercongress for an additional $1.5 trillion in cuts will be sent to both houses of Congress to receive only an up or down vote. The House and Senate cannot amend or filibuster the recommendations of the Supercongress. If the Congress votes no on the recommendations, the $1.5 trillion in cuts will be evenly distributed between the defense budget and domestic entitlement programs.
If the Congress does not go along with the proposed cuts of the Supercongress, the cuts go through anyway.

Our only line of defense in this coup attempt is the passage of Glass-Steagall. Mobilize for action, call every member of Congress, and tell them that a vote for the debt deal is a vote for treason. Demand the reinstatement of Glass-Steagall, H.R. 1489, immediately.

Yes, by their own fear of being challenged. But this is a change in the actual structure of government itself. And once instituted structural changes never go away, except by violence.
ie this agreement will not allow Congess to debate or reject billions of dollars in cuts. They will only be able to say yes or no, and if no then the cuts will be made anyways. It's like a takeover by instituting an 'uber-congress' above the congress, made up of a chosen dozen.

Hey mbee,

Think positive, maybe if you ran your finances like the government does you would have quite a salary, self employed, vacations and company trips, bribes and payoffs to stash somewhere on an island with independent banking, a few homes and maybe your own jet , etc, etc and just think you could blame all your weaknesses, shortcomings and mistakes on your employees and the people you serve and provide services to and demand that they pay up for your mistakes>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> sounds pretty good so no wonder they are not going to throw the towel in anytime too soon.

What has struck me throughout the process that led up to this “deal” was that it was clearly NOT “business as usual” anymore. I observed the expression of deep divisions and conflicts between various ideologies and factions within Congress as a whole, and those in turn were symptoms of the deep divisions and conflicts between various ideologies in the populace as a whole.

I also observed that the points being argued and fought over still obscured what was really going on within the system itself and did not address or identify anything that was a cause of the present “problems,” but rather focused on symptoms of the problem and made attempts at correction that have to ultimately fail because the underlying causes are not being addressed. This is similar to the approach taken in conventional medicine, where symptoms are suppressed, but causes are not addressed, so true healing rarely takes place.

The present combination of a fractional reserve banking system and a fiat money supply (money that is not backed by anything tangible and is created simply by decree) is simply not sustainable any longer, and the deep cuts in federal spending being attempted are one sign of having reached that point. The population issue is also not being addressed.

In addition, there are growing numbers of people needing and demanding services from various levels of government precisely when decreases in employment are taking their toll on the tax base that governments rely on to provide those services. These are the elements stacking up for the collapse that must come, sooner or later. In many ways, it is already here, and it is my feeling that it won’t be openly acknowledged until the unraveling takes place in a much more dramatic and rapid fashion. (OT)
