View Full Version : The Electric Universe Theory

So I've seen this idea come up lots in various places on this forum, in Wade Frazier's Healed Planet thread, in some of the Pane Andov discussions, and elsewhere.

I realized I would really love to hear some more succinct info, or have someplace to consult for easy-to-find links to good articles on the subject from those Avalonians who are familiar with this material.

So the door is open, who here has the intellectual goods and can maybe post links to good summaries or share your own interpretation of the theory and how it works.

Thanks..... a fellow truthseeker hoping to find a skilled 'librarian' to help with research. :)

I lost my library card many years ago ... but would like to see this topic discussed. Have put out some information and videos in other places. Will start off here with a basic balanced overview.

(note: I did the best I could with the formatting. Better to take the link to have a look for yourselves.)

Electric Universe theory

The Electric Universe theory argues that electricity plays a more important role in the Universe, than is generally accepted (see also "Electricity throughout the Universe").

As a theory, it offers explanations of various natural and astrophysical phenomena, some of which it claims are better understood without the need for various ad hoc explanations. As with any theory, the Electric Universe makes predictions that have been tested, and is published in both peer-reviewed papers, and popular books.

The Electric Universe theory is interdisciplinary, integrating and supporting subject as diverse as the science (astronomy, geology, physics), with the soft sciences such as ancient history and comparative mythology.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the Electric Universe has also become the target of pseudo-skeptics, whose criticisms have consisted of ad hominems, misunderstanding, misrepresentation, and labeling as pseudoscience.

Key points

Electricity plays a more significant role in the Universe than is generally accepted

The Sun and stars are electrically powered by drift currents (see Electric Sun theory)

Planetary surface features such as some craters, dendritic structures and rilles are caused by super-lightning (see electrical scarring)

Certain cosmic phenomena are electrical in nature, including:

Comet tails (See comets)

The plumes of Enceladus

Martian dust devils

Galaxy formation and dynamics (circumventing the need for black holes and dark matter)

Alternative Electric Universe theories

Others have described, or had described, their theories as the "Electric Universe", and while they may share some features in common, may be wholly different too.

In 1903, George Woodward Warder's book, The universe a vast electric organism, included Chapter XV "The Electric Universe is Self-Sustaining and Eternal".[1]

In 1959, Herman Bondi and R.A. Lyttleton proposed of "The possibility of a general excess of charge in the universe"[2] which Bondi referred to as the Electric Universe.[3]

In the 1960s, C.E.R. Bruce:
".. proposed a theory of the evolution of the universe, which will be of interest to electrical engineers. He endeavours to show that electrical discharges have gradually condensed matter from the primordial gas and dust of a general universal atmosphere, first into galaxies, then from the condensed matter of the galaxies into stars. Discharges in the extended atmospheres of stars further condensed the matter, ultimately to allow the formation of planets and satellites"[4][5]

In 1966, James Patton mentioned "the thinking reader who knows that gravitation and electrostatics both involve inverse-square laws of force, but is unaware of ionization, may wonder how stars and galaxies exist in the 'electric universe'.[6]

In 1978, P. C. W. Davies in an article in Nature,[7] described a paper on "The electrically polarized universe" by John Bally and E. R. Harrison in Astrophysics Journal.[8] Davies notes: ""In spite of its Velikovskian flavour, the Bally-Harrison electric universe unfortunately does not lead to any obviously important astrophysical consequences".

In 1998, Dr. László Körtvélyessy's book, The Electric Universe [9] also highlighted the importance of electricity in astronomy, but he does not subscribe to an electric-powered Sun, nor electrical scarring.

One of the more popular books on the subject:

Review

A magnificent description of electricity in space. Authors Thornhill and Talbott offer a sweeping critique of today's popular cosmology. They show that galaxies, stars (including our Sun), and comets can be best understood through the well-tested behavior of electricity the one force about which astronomers seem to know almost nothing. Having now devoted many years to investigating this question, I am in full agreement. --Donald E. Scott, professor of electrical engineering (retired)

On a plane back to London I read The Electric Universe from cover to cover (the light above my seat was the only one that remained on throughout the night). What a masterpiece. Each single sentence is absolutely spot-on and well formulated. This is just such a powerful textbook the potential and logic of the electric universe theory leaps off every page. The omission of mythological and other ancient data from the argument will undoubtedly help to forestall accusations of using 'tales and stories' to bolster a scientific theory. The book also conveys a strong impression that this theory has reached full maturation; it's not the incoherent ranting of someone exploding with a lot of new ideas, but obviously the fruit of many years of careful thinking and making associations. The soberness of tone and the lavish illustrations strike the right chord and I find it hard to imagine a reader who would not find the argument compelling. I have nothing to contend with concerning the main argument. --Rens van der Sluijs

The last 150 years have seen immense progress in the understanding of electrical phenomena. Nevertheless, the conventional cosmology taught today remains essentially a theory of gravity. "The Electric Universe" presents an alternative theory that recognizes electrical forces as the dominant influence in shaping the universe, and a major factor in determining much of our cultural and historical experience. Based on well-understood principles that can be observed and demonstrated in any plasma laboratory, the electrical model also offers ready explanations for processes that continue to puzzle astronomers today. Compelling, highly readable, and superbly illustrated, this book provides a comprehensive introduction to what will surely be the beginnings of a scientific revolution in the years ahead. --James Hogan, science/SF author

Was hoping someone else would jump in by now ... if I spend too much time talkin to myself they might lock me up you know (perhaps not a bad idea at times).

Anyway ... something related to the topic here just came up in another thread and since sometimes that is how the universe speaks I will post it here.

A new crop circle appeared July 29th and we have been trying to come up with what it says. From a very good crop circle site they give their take then below that someone responded with an intriquing (although too short) post.

She suggests 3 books are at the core of what is being shown. 2 of them are regarding the electric universe (one I already posted) and the 3rd a remarkable work from Joseph Farrell.

I am not necessarily endorsing what she is suggesting ... but it is food for thought.

From same site the further comments that pickle referred to and this one is *quite* interesting.

It makes reference to 3 very very important books (links to amazon but they don't work here with the copy).

She forgot to mention the 3rd book was from Joseph Farrell.

I do not know how to get you this information fast enough but here are several references that may be helpful in interpreting this formation. It seems some how urgent that I send you this link to this information.

Thunderbolts -David-Talbott-Wallace-Thornhill and Electric-Universe -Wallace-Thornhill-Talbott

This structure is a scalar wave function and very powerful indeed. It is discussed in this book

Cosmic-War-Interplanetary-Warfare-Physics

I very much think we are being helped with this concept now so that we do not annihilate ourselves. I am unsure how to say this without sounding like Chicken Little.

Review

In Thunderbolts of the Gods Talbott and Thornhill have combined their knowledge and expertise to present solid evidence for a revised view of Earth s history. Their work reveals that the tales, artifacts, customs and petroglyphs of the ancients that have come down to us through the fog of time tell a mutually consistent and powerful single story. Our planet s past has been filled with cataclysmic events some of which were witnessed by our early ancestors. At first, modern scientists claimed these events were physically impossible. But now it is becoming clear that not only the geological record provides strong evidence for these cataclysms, but the emerging study of plasma cosmology also demonstrates how these events could have indeed occurred. Only a few books rise to the level of importance whereby we can say This book truly changed my view of history . In my opinion this is such a book because once you have read it you will never look at art, ancient literature, mythology, opera, history, archeology, anthropology, or astronomy with the same eyes ever again. --Donald E. Scott, Ph.D., retired professor of electrical engineering and author of The Electric Sky

Mainstream astronomy holds that the Solar System has remained stable and essentially as we see it today for billions of years, cycling with regular, repeating motions that can be extrapolated backward to reliably reconstruct conditions in the remote past. The assumptions upon which this belief rests date back over three centuries to the times of Kepler, Newton, and Laplace, which see a cosmos consisting of electrically neutral bodies moving in a vacuum under the sole influence of gravity. Yet space is now known to be pervaded by electrical plasma, and there is strong evidence that the planets and other bodies carry electric charge. Charged objects immersed in plasma spontaneously form double-layer isolating sheaths around themselves that contain their fields and prevent mutual electrical interaction. For as long as planets move without their "magnetospheres" coming into contact, quiescent conditions like those that exist today will prevail, which are indeed accurately modeled by gravitation. But should some disturbance or instability occur that causes magnetospheres to intersect, the bodies involved will experience sudden complex forces immensely more powerful than gravity, accompanied by-if they are at different potentials-colossal electrical discharges between them. In Thunderbolts of the Gods, David Talbott and Wallace Thornhill present a compendium of evidence from diverse sources showing that not only have such events affected the Earth, but they have done so within the time of recorded human history! From as far apart as China, Mesopotamia, Egypt, and the Americas, peoples of ancient times have left records in their myths, legends, religions, and art forms, of skies vastly different from those we see today, alive with spectacles of light, violence, and seeming heavenly deities in conflict that not only battled each other but brought widespread death and devastation to Earth. --James P. Hogan, Author of Kicking the Sacred Cow

Hi Calz
I read what you post with interest.

Sometimes I feel I am talking to my self too re the importance being on any path to enlightenment--- especially now.
However when the obvious is stated people dont see a need to comment.

The link below give some comments on the latest crop circles
Kundalini is mentioned -- that is cosmic energy which live within us all.
The body is electric circuitry =nerves acupuncture meridians -- micro cosmic orbit.
Nothing but atoms --- energy in movement.
For sure God is a mathematician numbers =cosmic law.
So there ar some interesting views.

Thanks for the thread Artemesia.

Question for Calz... Before I elevate those books on the reading list to the get too soon category could you tell me if any of the Authors acknowledge that all that Maxwells equations showed (negative electricity) need to be understood for the theory to have any validity?

Any of us that have done any in depth research tend to find out that J.P.Morgan hired a mathematician (lorentz) to ensure that Electrical Engineering, then in it's infancy was denied access to this information to ensure that Teslas idea of giving everyone free electricity were not persued. In other words which if any of those authors refer to the influences of Scalar waves...

cheers

Happy to have other voices. I am not the one to carry the torch on this topic but quite interested.

As for Maxwell's equations, rather than from the two books mentioned thusfar I can quote from Farrell's book mentioned in the crop circle post:

To understand what Beardon means by "scalar" waves in the medium or vacuum, we must now go further into the history of where public consumption physics went wrong. According to Beardon, it began to make its first massive wrong turn after Maxwell. Maxwell first formulated his equations in a mathematical language all but extinct today, a mathematical language called quaternion geometry. This mathematical language differs significantly from the standard "linear algebra," "tensor calculus" and "vector analysis" in which the standard electromagnetic theory is usually couched in textbooks and physics lectures. In short, the equations one learns in physics textbooks and physics courses today as Maxwell's equations are not Maxwell's orignial equations! They are edited equations. ...

Joseph Farrell, The Cosmic War, Page 40.

As far as the Electric Universe and Thunderbolts of the Gods books, I suggested they were 2 of the more popular. From what I could understand it seemed reasonable material. The reviews I posted from Amazon come from people with related backgrounds and are *far* more suited to evaluate than I.

If anyone can offer better material, sources or references then please have at it.

I am here to learn and am all ears :ear:

Thanks Calz...Farrells book is now on the way to my place...

The subject appeals to me because I tend to subscribe to the theory that the everything is one big field (mind of god if you will) and thus able to cover most, if not all explanations. eg mutliple holographic universes, concsious control of matter/manifestation, faster than light speed communication via quantum entanglement etc...

Of course as always that goes with the caveat I could be completely wrong!!

Chris loves to pound the table on David Sereda for good cause. In one of his recent c2c interviews he gave his "proof" that the universe itself is indeed "consciousness".

I agree with what you say here ... so if we are wrong at least we can cry in each other's beer

I assume you have seen the video for the Thunderbolts of the Gods???

Perhaps there are more accurate or elegant models from other people ... but this one is accessible. At a minimum a nice way to bridge the gap of plausibility for those that have never heard of the concept of an electric universe.

You are quite welcome and in lieu of your significant contributions to other threads/patterns only a small voice.

I was hoping for more qualified voices to lend more substance to what seems (to me) quite obvious conclusions based on what "theories" have been offered.

No expert by any means ... but I have been convinced the "electric universe" is the way to go to try to find answers to the explanations for what is out there.

This one is mostly for a fun reminder of how much we still have to learn about what all is "out there" in space.

I would suggest this might be a shameless bump to entice more posts about the electric universe but ... nah ... I would never stoop so low ...

A glowing bubbly bauble in space

Look, I’ve been around the block a few times. I’ve spent my whole life as an astronomer, so I’ve seen pretty much every big, bright object there is in the sky.

However, "pretty much" != "all". It’s still possible to surprise me, and folks, let me tell you: the Gemini telescope’s observation of the nebula Kronberger 61 did just that!

9164

Wow! [Click to ennebulenate.] It looks like a buckeyball or a soccerball; my wife pointed out it looks like the shape you get when you use a bubble maker to make a bunch of bubbles all stuck together. Kn 61, as it’s called, is actually a planetary nebula, the gas flung off by a star like the Sun as it dies. You can get the details (along with many pretty pix) of how this works in a recent post of mine. In a nutshell, when a star runs out of useable hydrogen fuel in its core, it expands into a red giant and expels a huge wind of gas. This strips away the outer layers of the star, revealing the hot, dense core. Ultraviolet light from that star then lights up the surrounding gas, making these gorgeous nebulae.

The exact mechanisms for this process, however, are still not clear. I studied planetary nebulae (so-called because they sometimes resemble planetary disks through small telescopes) when I was in grad school, and a big question then was how the creation of these things depends on whether the central star was solitary, like the Sun, or had a companion (or planets). This relationship is still not clear, in fact, which is where Kn 16 comes in.

This nebula happens to be in the field of view of Kepler, an orbiting observatory that’s looking for planets around other stars. It’s staring at about 100,000 stars, looking for dips in light from the stars that indicate orbiting planets that periodically block the stars’ light. The central star of Kn 61 — the blue dot in the middle of the cloud — is being examined to see if it’s a binary or not. Professional astronomers have partnered with amateurs to do this, and Matthias Kronberger is a Swiss amateur who discovered this beauty.

The image uses filters that select the light from ionized oxygen (emitted very strongly by such nebulae) and hydrogen. I love the barred spiral galaxy just adjacent to Kn 61; the planetary nebula is in our Milky Way galaxy, but that spiral is probably tens of thousands of times farther away.

The overall symmetry of the nebula is striking — in fact, it’s sphericity makes me inclined to think the star is not part of a binary; the centrifugal force of two stars revolving around each other tends to flatten such nebula and create bizarre shapes (see Related Posts below). The filaments creating the soccerball-like structure are probably due to the nebula expanding into surrounding gas, compressing it (or a faster wind from the stellar core that has caught up with and slammed into the slower-moving red giant wind). I’ve never seen any other planetary nebula that looks quite like this one though. It’s really fantastic, in the sense of the word "fantasy": ethereal, strange, and beautiful.
