Wondering what those odd sphere-like features are in recent STEREO EUVI images?

We have investigated, and determined that these are artifacts caused by an interaction between the high compression factors used for the beacon (http://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/artifacts/artifacts_beacon.shtml) data, and cosmic ray (http://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/artifacts/artifacts_cosmic_rays.shtml) events on the detector. Our discussion of image artifacts (http://stereo.gsfc.nasa.gov/artifacts/artifacts.shtml) has been updated to include this phenomenon. Another factor which has contributed to this issue has been the recent delay in receiving the full resolution images from the spacecraft. This was caused by a server problem at the Deep Space Network, and has now been resolved.

It's obvious. They are hiding the activity around the sun... including those spheres.

I don't believe the image artifact story for one second.. I've seen video of the 'artifacts' moving around the sun.. how does an image artifact do that? ... "comets" larger than Jupiter without tails entering the sun etc.. too many unanswered questions

They don't know what those things are, so they just give some "simple" explanation like, "it's dust in the SOHO lenses", so people won't freak out.

I think only the people lower in rank (so to speak) at NASA don't know what those are... but the "big guys" know. For us doesn't matter that much now... because no matter who at NASA knows and who doesn't... they are still hiding them.
