You conflate euro-scepticism with xenophobia and cultural imperialism. This thread is about Nigel Farage's speech in the European Parliament, if you have concerns about him in general you might consider starting a thread on it. I'm sure some here would welcome your view on the matter.

Seeing that Cymru & Yr Alban want to stay in the EU is this not relevant of Farage's speech? For he is trying to make out all has failed, when in essence all he is doing is promoting his own anglo saxon agenda. If memory serves me right, the original speech was closer to 10 mins.
This is how dis-info is spread by picking the fluffy bits out & disregarding the rest of the picture.

This is an English-speaking forum, so perhaps you mean 'Wales' and 'Scotland'. It is not clear at all that the Scottish and Welch want to remain part of the EU at all, and if Wales' view of an independent Wales is a Wales which kowtows to the will of Europe, then it has a laughable view of independence.
This video is a video about Nigel Farage's speech; if you wish to peddle your views, you may start a new thread about them, do not divert this thread from its celebratory purpose.

From what I've heard from speeches by Nigel Farage, there is nothing "fluffy" about anything he says.
We need his mouth and his courage over here across the pond.
This video is from 2009 but is just what the political doctor ordered.

With all due respect for the job I note you are training to do Oliver S do you think that language such as
if you wish to peddle your views,
is apprporiate for anyone wearing a moderators cap??
It is obvious you feel strongly about the subject matter, but I for one expect all moderators to keep their personal opinions to themselves whilst 'on the job' so to speak. If you wish put forth a personal opinion which in this case, no matter how poor ones grasp of the English language may be, has simply denigrated the views of another member in the sarcastic manner that you have may I suggest you have the integrity to state up front that this is you speaking personally.
To not do so in future will IMHO simply drag the standard the 'staff' try to mantain lower than it really needs to go.
Please think carefully about what I have just said before you respond. An example to keep in mind whilst considering how to word your reply is the recent 'holiday' apparently earned by one 'Lord Sidious' for purportedly calling a moderator a 'Dick'. Obviously unacceptable.
By the same token had he chosen not to be quite so blunt and opted to use sarcasm instead, with phraseology along the lines of "Richard Cranium" by the standard you are showing above he should by rights not be on holiday...no?
Over to you...

Madhatter.....you have spoken upon the subject eloquently.
I am aware of many here that have observed these demeaning kind of statements from certain "mods"...while its off topic to touch upon it here, Anno has opened a thread about privelages being extended to different members. Maybe thats a great place for this topic of discussion.

I would say the Mod in training's tone was definitely unfriendly and very disparaging. A Mod is obliged to, above all, not be taking things personally, particularly when it comes to something they have posted themselves. Courtesy above all is something we must all pay attention to on this forum, and coming from a dispassionate space, not an emotional one, particularly if the emotion is negative.
The other thread that was mentioned is Diplomatic Immunity on Forums
The following is from one of the posts by Carmody on that thread, and is quite relevant here:
"Police yourself, it really is that simple. If one cannot police their emotions, then where is one, anyway?
I can be emotionally interjective , to flavour and color via it, with my posting, as much as the next person can.
However, I realize this essential point, how fundamentally important it is. so I keep that off and out of the forum.
Polite discourse means exactly that. No strong emotional toning of your posts, otherwise you are contributing to the forum's destruction.
If one does not see it that way, then they are in a state where their emotions are hiding this basic truth from them.
If you did not hear me say this before, I will repeat it: A friend of mine was a world class debating champion, in his university years. His prime statement on debating was that one cannot, at all, ~ever~ bring any overt emotion to the information that they attempt to impart in a given debate.
The moment one does that, they may have satisfied the self, but they have lost every single other participant.
Emotional tinging and similar is used to KEEP people in their state of satisfaction and position of view. All it does is massage the ego of the given person who has no desire to change their position or thinking. It is used to hold the line against outside or incoming logic and discourse. That is the realm of Fox News."
