View Full Version : Aussies, it's time to mobilise: Convoy Of No Confidence!

Not happy with Ms Gillard and/or the current Australian Government?

... ... .... THEN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

The Convoy of NO CONFIDENCE is amassing towards Canberra.

Something beautiful is unfolding. From all over Australia, people whose businesses and jobs are being driven into the ground by spectacular government mismanagement are gathering to drive from the corners of the continent to converge on Canberra to demand an election.

Cars, utes and semitrailers are descending on Canberra from all over the country

The productive class may not have easy rent-a-crowds for rallies and chirpy letter campaigns, but they have something that the keen teens do not — they have capital assets — in this case, assets that move.

When it’s obvious money and choices are being poured down a bottomless well, people are prepared to go that extra mile, or in this case the extra 4,000.*

It started with Mick Pattel – a livestock transporter from North West Queensland — who suffered a 50 percent drop in business when the Federal Government banned live exports to Indonesia. According to Beef Central he declared that the time has come for a re-election. The owner / driver from Richmond, who also serves as president of the National Road Freighters Association, started planning a protest convoy to drive from northern Australia to the lawns of Parliament House in August.

“He hopes to generate enough support and media attention via the “Vote of No Confidence Convoy” to convince the Governor General to dissolve the Parliament or to convince Julia Gillard to go back to the polls.“

The central planning for the Convoy is at Just Grounds, though facebook sites have sprung up to feed into it too. Organisers appear to have been astounded by the demand and with so many cars and trucks wanting to join up they are changing plans, adding convoys, and even splitting some convoys to cover different routes. Some people are travelling out to the far reaches so they can join the convoys from the start.

Sort of along the same lines - received a free energy brochure from the gvt today - would suggest everyone marking it 'return to sender' and reposting it.

If you think this is an idea then pass it on facebook it - whatever.

Can't believe the amount of money they've spent on this crap, waste of time campaign.

Julia Gillard is a creepy puppet....but then Tony Abbot is even creepier. If the solution is just change from one puppet to anothter it doesn't seem worth it to me.
Happy trails though :)

A rarity I know, but I must disagree with you on this one Teakai,

Any Protest on this Disasterous Govt. is better than NOTHING at all!

You will be suprised just how many people will partipate, my only wish is the MSM gives it fair coverage.

PS - Thanks for the useful post D-DAY

Time to vote for INDEPENDANTS. Break away from the big parties and get the little people in power.

I urge you to reconsider your statement loveandgratitude,

Independents: Oakeshott, Wilkie & Windsor are the very reason we are in such a mess with this farce of an unelected Govt.

Nothing to do with me, not yesterday, not today and certainly not tomorrow.

Hi Jackovesk. You've misunderstood my post :) .

I want to go to the vote of no confidence rally D-Day posted about. I"m all for it. - The 'waste of money campaign' I was referring to in my post is the carbon tax campaign with their 'clean energy brochure' the gvt sent out in the mail recently.

This seems relevant (someone said something about one side being as bad as the other)

People are stupid. It seems Gillard who ousted Rudd, will herself be ousted by an early election or by a rival in her party. And in a similar way, it seems Obama will be ousted before the end of his term.

But what people don't understand is that ousting a leader or a party won't undo decades of systemic change and global interconnectedness. I remember the same attitude to Whitlam, Frazer, Hawke, Keating, Howard and Rudd here in Oz and of course the same attitude to Clinton, Bush senior and junior, Reagan, Carter and Nixon.

The systems must change, not leadership, not parties but the way we think and create democracy, capitalism, financial systems, fiscal and monetary policy, political priorities, trade and social systems.

These kinds of protests don't change thinking or systems. They change surface level politics and relationships. I guarantee the same frustration will continue, no matter who is at the helm.

The same thing happens in face to face relationships. If someone doesn't respond the way we want, we double our efforts, rather than changing tact. And all that does is create more stress, destroys relationships and lives. This approach is the same thing manifest on the macro scale and will have the same futile result.

Humans could focus their energies in ways that actually make sustainable systemic :rolleyes: change.

Now here is a surprise for you …our PM Julia has a astrological chart pattern to die for! Err well I mean it is a possible assassination ‘politically’. She is running a chart energy that nothing she does can work out well for her.

Hopefully we see that a revolution will take place after a huge convoy of mad people storm the Bastille Gates of the ACT Palace, end of this month. More than one political backbencher or independent will seek to cross the floor and so a double dissolution is quite possible.

We had an election. The independents talked with both major parties. They made their choice. There will be another election when the time for it comes. This is how our democracy works.
This thread is exactly like the concerted campaign by the Murdoch press in Aust. and the radio shock jocks against a properly and lawfully elected Government.
The Murdoch press and s.j.'s support Tony Abbott who is as neo-con as you can get in this country.
I say get over it and await the next election.

Bea..........Did we not vote in Kevin Rudd who was royally booted from a democratically elected position?
