FYI:

An analyst says the ongoing chaos across London and other major UK cities has roots in the country's “collapsing” system which has left many British youths unemployed and stressed.

“[What] you are seeing at the moment [in the UK] is the first outpourings of distress and disorder of a system which is fundamentally flawed,... They (the protesters) are young people who have no prospects whatsoever,” Rodney Shakespeare, a professor of Binary Economics from London, told Press TV.

Shakespeare said that young Brits feel being sold out by an economic system which has failed to provide them with decent jobs.

“If you [the UK government] don't provide young men with work, at some stage you are going to be in trouble,” he added.

The analyst further pointed out that the protesters have been let down by a “crippled London education system which does not teach them to count or read properly.”

The unrest in Britain began on August 6 in the north London suburb of Tottenham, after a few hundred people gathered outside a police station to protest against the fatal shooting and killing of a Black man, Mark Duggan by the police.

Thereafter, violent protests erupted in major cities like Birmingham, Liverpool, and Bristol, contributing to Britain's worst riot since the 1980s. Protest outbreaks were also reported in Leeds, Manchester, Nottingham, Reading and Oxford.

Turmoil is now threatening to sweep across Britain as the mayhem and looting has also spread to the central city of Birmingham, the western city of Bristol, the northwestern city of Liverpool, and south London neighborhood of Brixton.

British authorities say hundreds of people have been arrested as the unrest entered its fourth night.

The country's politicians, from Prime Minister David Cameron to other high and mid-ranking officials, refer to the youth protesters as mobs and thugs and gangs of criminals.
