It was absolutely beautiful here today, So I decided to give myself a late
birthday gift and grill up 3 T-bone steaks! When I went to the store to pick up
my steaks they also had Newyork strips on sale so I purchased some.
( smoked in hickory chips)
Anyway has I was preparing my steaks I was looking at the sky and like I said before
it was beautiful here 75 degrees, one of the bluest skys ive ever seen!
I noticed my neighbor was watching me grill, Finally he started to make small talk with me.

He kept telling me how good my steaks smelled, But then he told me he and his wife and brother had not eaten in the past couple of days! Man It really struck a chord with me
I do not live in a poor neighborhood.I would classify It has a middle income area.

So I cooked them the best steak I could! I know Im far from a perfect person. but It
just made me feel good! Have a good day fellow Avalonians!

I'm so happy for you. That's wonderful. I was reading, the other day, on a website that there are two types of people. STS and STO or service to self and service to others. On the site, it stated that we are here, in 3d, if I recall correctly, to learn how to become an STO. After I read that I realized that being an STO type of person is synonyms with unconditional love. I'm truly happy for you jagman. Hearing your story made me feel wonderful, words can't describe even how wonderful it made me feel.
p.s. I understand that one shouldn't simple assume things without research of their own, but I FELT that there's definitely truth to the words on that website.
Love
Joshua

Yes! Nothing causes me to feel more abundant than having more than I need and giving it away. I love your story.

Knowing the rule of three, this will come back to you when you need it.
Good work.

Jagman- that was a very kind thing you did.

Oh, by the way, can I have your address in case things don't go so well for me. I like filet mignon if you happen to be grilling again.;)

Jagman - you fed them from the goodness of your heart. There's no strings or political agenda behind your act (which is a lot different from Keith McHenry's Food Not Bombs). Kudos to you sir for your act of compassion.

Jagman - upon further reflection, you responded how any one would have responded in the old days. People took care of their neighbors. I used to deliver a plate of food to a retired neighbor who was on very limited income. When I was in Lassen County, there was a poor married couple that the community would deliver groceries too.

What stopped a lot of this is when the poor were given government subsidized housing. When everyone is poor, no one has anything to share and what happens the strongest just take (rob) it. The "community" then goes into a downward spiral.

However, when the less fortunate is integrated with the more fortunate and those less fortunate are not criminals, people find it easier to identify with their neighbor's plight and are more capable of helping. It's a wonderful thing you did.

Loved this!
Nice one.

Isnīt it a bit odd that we call our neighbours strangers?
Hey, I am guilty of it too. I enjoy a bit of anonymity.
It just made me wonder when and why a community becomes so "alienated".

Nevertheless, not to detract from the feel good of this thread, may we all get to know who we have in our immediate surroundings (me inlcluded) so that we can bond together when the SHTF. :)

Big thumbs up jagman.

Sensational stuff Jag, your a stand-up guy you know that!

I too know the feeling of giving away, and let me tell you it's a hell of a lot better than receiving!

I once gave a guy who was going though a rough patch a $1000, I had such a unique feeling sweep over my entire body, I was in a state of.. bliss, I guess you could call it, for the rest of the day!

Glad you shared!

Your neighbors were strangers to you? How do they plan surviving anyways? They must be in dire straits, if they couldn't eat for days.

Something so simple yet powerful can and will resonate throughout our world.... well done. Let us hope we in the UK can have the courage to do the same.... getting back to basics is what it is all about.

DH,
It's so true that it feels better to give than receive. I did similar to what you did. Someone gave me the same amount. I was shocked to get so much. And when I came into some money, I gave 3 other people that same amount. It was worth it to see their eyes light up!
What a world it would be if more people just gave without expecting anything in return....
Jagman, you touched my heart with your story. Thank you....
Good people DO EXIST!
