Cops Confiscate Cameras at Ohio Congressman’s Town Hall..!
August 24, 2011
A congressman from Ohio had cops grab the cameras of constituents during a town hall meeting. Steve Chabot, a Republican, had cell phones and cameras confiscated in order to “prevent an embarrassing from making the rounds,” according to Carlos Miller, who runs a blog documenting efforts by the state to stifle the First Amendment rights of photographers.

See video of the incident below.
Police said the cameras were taken “to protect the constituents.” A local television station, however, was allowed to videotape the meeting and the brazen move by Chabot and the cops.
Think Progress, the Soros-funded media operation, also reported the incident, primarily because Chabot is an establishment Republican and protesters outside the event called for more taxes. The Democrat blog reported:
Media were permitted to record the event, making the ban on citizen cameras all the more baffling. Clearly no “security” threat existed; rather, as one of Chabot’s staffers told ThinkProgress, they wanted to “prevent” people from “making a show” of the event. Indeed, Chabot and his staff were worried enough about citizens voicing their anger at his policies that they only accepted pre-screened questions chosen by the congressman’s staff.
This should not be perplexing – the controlled corporate media can be trusted to not embarrass Rep. Chabot, at least not on points that matter, while citizens cannot.
It is also interesting that Think Progress attributes the current economic implosion to Chabot and the Republicans when Democrat Obama is in the White House and allegedly in control.
In fact, neither Obama or the Republicans control the economy. It is controlled by a Federal Reserve that has doubled the monetary base since last August.

So why did people eventually concede?
Why don't they just say no, arrest me and I will litigate the lot of you into bankruptcy for a civil rights violation?
Plus the torts of trespass to the person assault, trespass to the person battery, trespass to chattels and malfeasance?
This is outrageous.

Probably because the Patriot Act essentially cancelled most of our civil rights.

Yes my Lord, people fear police, they see the uniform, the gun, hand cuffs, the brutality and the authority given to them by the government. So people get intimidated. But rest assured if I see anything like this I would jump at the opportunity to nail them.

Only if you believe it did.

So true.
Last night, I heard what sounded like a high powered rifle shot, near by, .308, or bigger, pointed in my direction, about 400 yards, max. Then, a little later, something akin to a 9mm double tap.
Most people would just get real quiet.
I live on the edge of the woods in a wooded area, on the edge of a city.
I shut the lights off.
I dressed completely in black...and slipped into the very dark night, to investigate.
Curiosity is a strange thing. I'm not fearless, or stupid - only calculated.
According to Bush, the US constitution is only a piece of paper.
In that case, then..so is the patriot act. It's just a piece of paper.
The US constitution was written in blood, blood that earned the right.
The patriot act was written by thieves and insiders of ill repute.
Their value, these pieces of paper.. is in their meaning and core origins. It is obvious which is more meaningful and potent.
I'm one of those people who understands that laws are not for honest people.
Laws are for giving direction to the idea of control of unacceptable behavior within the context of the morals and ethics of the greater group. They are an announcement of lines to not be crossed, with advertised penalties for those who do not possess ethics or neural wiring that pertains to understanding balance for the greater good.
The patriot act is none of those things.

Yes, that is one avenue. The less brave could have just gotten up and walked out/boycotted the Town Hall meeting thereby cancelling it and making it a farce. Talk about avoiding an embarrassing moment.
The people in that hall embarrass me to think I want to stand with them. Hard to do with invertebrates.

I hope there was some audio done.
Is it not a public hearing?

The last thing that ''they'' want is a stack of us ready to make a HUGE scene at the drop of a hat.
They know what I am like here, so they usually don't mess with me.

The video kind of makes it obvious doesn't it, that the government employees and tax paid congressmen *know* they have nothing to fear from the recordings of the 4th estate (which will never see the light of day), only the taxpaying citizens themselves.
Viva the internet.

One thing I became aware of after awakening, followed by many years of deep meditation... is how energy works. In this reality fighting against something simply puts more energy into the battle and causes it to continue. Fighting with something ... against opposition does the same. So... how does one make a difference that will really change things?????
I looked at this question for years, and here is the eventual answer I came to clearly see. The only way to make a difference is to withdraw your energy and support for the conflicts. And this can only be done by becoming aware of them, both internally and externally, then working to dissolve your reactions to them. Any judgement that you have about any of it.... fuels it.
As you become clearer and clearer, and more and more neutral, you will have opportunities come to you to truly change things. These opportunities will arrive as you become aware of how energy truly works on the subtle planes. Once you can see energy on the subtle planes then you can begin to untangle energetic knots which make a true and lasting difference in this reality. If my small note here pricks your interest and you would like to learn more I would like to suggest that there are a few books where a truly powerful conscious being actually tells what they are doing/ or have done in the subtle planes. These books can act like breadcrumbs showing you an alchemical path of power you may follow.
The most recent, and one of the best I've read, is 'Unplugging the Patriachry' by Lucia Rene. From my personal experience I can say that she has done a really good job of attempting to describe this kind of power and action in words (since this is beyond words most beings of power never even attempt to language what they do.)

Another point is that the kind of people who would want to attend a congressman's meeting in the first place (personally I can't think of a less appealing way to spend my free time) aren't likely to be the kind of people to question the government's authority.

At the same time as I agree with what you say, I disagree too.
You are correct in your theory and tactics, no worries there.
However, the other side of the coin, is that there are many people who would not have that ''jolt'' they need without some type of conflict that is put in front of them.

It seems incredible that these citisen, taxpayers would just sit there and let the local authority take their rights, out of their own hand, without one complaint, Wow.
It makes me sad to see these good people lulled into complaicincy by tptb,s insidous food and water programs, and who can imagine what else.
It makes me so damn angry, sorry, I pass that thought.
Maybe, just maybe, we can get through this, time, without any anger, but it seems less likely all the time.

The sign posted on the door to the meeting said "For Security Purposes Cameras Are Not Permitted." What a joke and, as usual, the joke is on the public and the people who came to the town hall meeting. The only security that was being protected by disallowing cameras of a publicly elected official at a publicly funded event for the public was to protect Congressman Chabot from having to explain/dodge whatever lies he was about to spew in the town hall meeting. They can control what the media puts out, but not what the people might publish on the Internet or elsewhere and that's the reason for not allowing cameras.
I agree with 'modwiz.' The people having their cameras confiscated should have stood up, announced that they were tired of having their rights trampled on by a tyrannical government and their Gestapo Police and asked those who were fed up as well to join them in walking out of the meeting and peacefully protesting it from outside (with their cameras recording).
Until the masses wake up and start taking their government, rights and freedoms back, we can expect nothing less than more of the same--and, in all likelihood, much worse.
I sincerely hope Chabot's office gets inundated with thousands of angry phone calls, emails and letters.

If you wish to be nice, and polite too, just say no thanks, when they tell you that you must do something.
You are in honour and also, you make their demand look like a request.
In a way, you are putting them back in their place.

I disagree, Mariposafe.....:).....I would likely attend to hear what was being said and to watch....personally, I'm still trying to catch some of these political shape-shifters via my camera or cell phone. The news feed can always be edited....hard to control what's caught on a personal device. It does make me wonder "why", though. I can't believe it's to protect the identity of the constituents....that's quite possibly the lamest excuse I've heard. If someone doesn't want their identity known in a free assembly...then just don't go.
Another point is that the kind of people who would want to attend a congressman's meeting in the first place (personally I can't think of a less appealing way to spend my free time) aren't likely to be the kind of people to question the government's authority.
